But the S1 only uses 2 right? So the CX500 is tried and tested with the S1?

So whats wrong with the CX500's why pay more for the 750's - are you going to run 2 S1's off the same PSU?
Thanks

So CX500's are good for an S1? What is the advantage of buying a CX750 as stated some people are doing in this thread?

In any event - i have been reading your PSU guide. It is an excellent read, must have taken you a long time to write.
I think i have settled on a Corsair CX500. This was mentioned in your PSU guide, is it any good for an S1? No voltage drop/5v rail problems?

I read this: "like I said you need to power something on the 5v cable so that the power supply can balance the power."

From this thread:

The reason i ask is i am in need of a new PSU for an antminer s1. I currently use a XFX Core Edition 650W for another S1 and it is perfect. But i cant seem to find them for sale anymore, for reasonable shipping costs.

This link explains how its meant to happen:

http://techreport.com/review/24897/the-big-haswell-psu-compatibility-list

So is the CS650 a good choice? I have seen videos of people using them with no problems, but there was a thread somewhere about corsairs switching themselves off...

I have heard the Corsair CS650 switches off because of excess voltage on the 5v, when 12v rail is fully used. Is there any way to prevent this - what device could be hooked up to the 5v line?

Also, is the Coolermaster Thunder 500W any good for an S1?
Thanks

Still no luck. Once it gets working it will mine non-stop but if i switch it off/reboot it - it takes forever to start mining again (many hours).
Someone has to have had the same problem?

Ok. Its just that it appears to start working during 'off peak' hours. This must just be a coincidence.
What happens is when i leave it switched on for over half an hour it starts working. Now i thought this was because at the time i was trying it, the internet has higher latency where i live.
When i ping the internet from the antminer i sometimes get lost packets.

A couple more ideas - would a high latency internet connection cause this trouble connecting?
Also is wifi turned off by default? - i haven't used wifi on the antminer but i heard it could cause connection troubles.

In the processes list it shows cgminer using 24% of the CPU (even though its nor connected):
Code:
cgminer --bitmain-options 115200:32:8:40:350:4d81 -o stratum+tcp://stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 -O XxXScarecrowXxX.worker1:LfDacYac --api-listen --api-network
0%
24%
Another idea is that perhaps my ISP is blocking a port? But i doubt it (the antminer works sometimes).

Yes, sure have. I dont understand why the led is blinkin when i can use the inbuilt diagnostics to ping openwrt.org.
The pool info is correct - because as i said yesterday, the miner started mining again, then i switched it off - and BAM it wont mine again.

So i have double checked things, the antminer is connected to the internet (i can ping from it successfully) but the green LED is still blinking. Why?

So slushs pool hasn't found a block since march?
I am new to mining - i thought the pool found a block every 'round'?

If slush's pool penalizes people for leaving not staying, whats to stop someone joining the round right at the end doing a few Gh/s then getting the same 'estimated reward' as they would if they were there mining all the time on that round? Is that how it works?

Does that mean it will chew up lots more bandwidth?
Also does anyone even use deepbit anymore - on the deepbit web site is says pool rate "222Gh/s".
That is like one overclocked s1.
