Re: "Your soul-mate"

When I was with my ex-boyfriend, I thought I found my soulmate. You know the feeling of being in love, having butterflies, blushing at his message or call, smiling always like an idiot, so on.

Soon, in a span of one month we came so close. We met via facebook. And then it started. I was denying my feelings for him and he had feelings for me since the day we met, i.e. a month post chats and calls. He said that my eyes made him fall in love with me. I know. Too romantic.

But you won't believe I was the first one to confess on having a crush at him. Yes. First move. It was good. Until he said "okay." Yes. He said this. OKAY.

But later he confessed that he was surprised because throughout he wanted to say the same to me. And thus began our so-called love story. We talked. We fought. We laughed. We hugged. We again fought. And this continued. For almost six months.

Is democracy dying, or perhaps already dead? Is it really time to eulogise democracy, or are we rather on the cusp of a new phase in its long and varied life? – Jean-Paul Gagnon, University of Canberra

Controlling Pollution
In December 1997, 160 nations meeting in Kyoto, Japan agreed to cut back emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. While ratified by only a very small number of countries so far, the "Kyoto Protocol" calls for industrial countries to reduce their average emissions during 2008-12 to about 5 percent below 1990 levels. Some countries pledged to go further: the European Union set an 8 percent target, while the Unites States and Japan agreed to cut emissions by 7 and 6 percent, respectively. The Protocol allows some industrial countries to modestly increase their emissions in the near term, while special terms apply to members of the former Soviet Union. Since developing countries face potential technical and economic constraints, the Protocol does not oblige them to cut back their emissions.

Because the proposed targets are likely to impose large costs on the global economy, the Kyoto agreement sets the stage for long and complex discussions at the national and international levels. A key issue is how these costs will be shared among countries. While recent public opinion polls show greater concern about climate change and some willingness to share burdens to curb greenhouse gas emissions, recent events in energy markets provide evidence that the public is unwilling to accept significant hikes in energy prices or other costs. If countries prove unwilling to ratify the Kyoto Protocol in its present form, however, the discussions will undoubtedly continue.

Re: The future of the market

It’s unfathomable to think a company spent 1/190th of the advertising budget of their closest competitor and outsold them by 3X, but that’s just what Tesla did. Mercedes Benz is an advertising powerhouse, yet was outdone by something more powerful, context. While Mercedes Benz was telling the world to buy their cars, Telsa was having a conversation about living fossil fuel free. That allowed them to break through, and drive sales without the need for advertising.

Advertising is designed to distract away from the consumer's task at hand, while context seeks to match it. To see the power of context look no further than Facebook. Each time you log on to Facebook there are over 1,000 posts awaiting you, yet their algorithms only show you the ones contextual to you to the moment. This is why we've seen organic reach on social media decline below 1%. Without context to the moment, there is no way our messages will make it through. Context is the future of marketing because consumers demand it, the new media environment supports it, and it is proving to be a much greater driver of consumer action than advertising.

Re: why bitcoin price fall down?

Despite its positive results in the previous few weeks, bitcoin is taking a hit amid a price manipulation scandal.

The US Justice Department suspects traders are now manipulating BTC prices, an illegal practice in regular markets.

The cryptocurrency world is regularly suspected of facilitating nefarious deeds, beginning its journey to popularity as an anonymous currency to trade for drugs and paraphernalia on the Deep Web.

However, the cryptocurrency market may now be moving to more ‘white-collar crimes’ as a criminal investigation is launched.

DADI stands for 'Decentralized Architecture for Democratic Internet' - it's a platform for web services that offers computing power, database storage and content delivery, etc. to support businesses. In a traditional setup, you will be buying a server or a set of servers (virtualized or dedicated) typically located in one place and as a result are limited in terms of performance because of the further away from the user from the physical location of the hosting, the slower the overall performance. In DADI you are paying for a series of interconnected VPCs, which massively localise your content through the use of distributed nodes numbers in the tens of thousands.

Re: China *slowly* taking over the world?

Yes, as you might remember their officially statement stated that China is going to be the super power of world while Pakistan would claim to be the super power of Asia.

No doubt china is on the way, as US went from 13 colonies to 50 states, and UK occupied many countries like sub-continent by just East-India company, and many other countries. In all over the world UK is the only country having no national freedom day, as all other countries got free from UK.

Now let’s talk about china, like East-India company china has devised this plan in the shape of CPEC and ONE BELT AND ONE ROAD to reach similar goal in more sophisticated way. You might have remember the Sea Port construction and running of Sri Lanka by China later on that Sea Port and territory having port captured and held by China.

The defense mechanism of our body is our immune system and a healthy immune system will ensure we do not contract diseases that are caused due to bacteria, fungus, and viral infections. Nature has many natural ways to help prevent free radicals from affecting our body. Onions are one of these natural ways to build a stronger immunity. The vitamin C present in onions is the reason onions are believed to protect us from many diseases. The phytonutrients present in onions help the antioxidant properties of the vegetable to take full effect.

Whether it's a new city or country, or new restaurant or museum, I'm making this year about new experiences rather than things that make me feel comfortable. First up: I'm taking a weeklong solo trip to Japan this year (two firsts in one!) and can't wait to eat my weight's worth of noodles.

Re: How comfortable are you speaking in front of large groups of people?
by

If I go through an assessment of my comfort before large groups, I would rate myself with pretty decent scores. I hardly stutter before the audience, I manage to keep a steady flow of words and stage paralysis has been a thing of distant past for me.

But reaching this stage has been a journey through all kinds of impediments that one faces while getting better at public speaking. It has taken a good 15 years to reach this level of comfort with the stage. I remember I had my first stint at public speaking when I had to read daily news in my school in 5th grade. Though it does not qualify to be a public speech, yet it was the first time I faced the crowd, instead of being a face in the crowd

Re: How can I quit smoking?
by
FosterSofia
on 02/12/2018, 17:49:13 UTC

Think about if you want to quit smoking. Nicotine is incredibly addictive and it will take determination to quit. Ask yourself if a life without smoking is more appealing than continuing your life as a smoker.[1] If the answer is yes, have a clear reason for wanting to quit. This way, when abstaining becomes difficult you can be clear about your very important reason to quit.
