I no longer open emails from any coin related sites that I use. The subject lines are usually detailed enough that if I deem it important I will just navigate to the site directly myself.
THAT is vigilance!

D&T, I got my first phishing email into my gmail account since I can't remember. It appears to ask me to login to my blockchain.info but actually redirects to blockschain.info Careful everyone the wolves are out to play! FF PS. I'm going to rebuild my Linux dev box and thunderbird the details into a separate thread. PPS. keep up the vigilance!
The death of MtGox (FINALLY !) is great news alone. There are more adoptions, more good news from previous adoptions. I don't see much bad news actually.
The transaction malleability was a minor bug. No other exchanges except of MtGox were affected.
When long-time bitcoiners are not panicking, you can be sure that there is no panic. But check with Proudhon just to be sure!

Has anyone heard of the spaghetti approach? Throw things at Bitcoin and see what sticks... or the "didn'ya kill my brother?!?" Blame Bitcoin users for every malady that affects mankind? Every article that broaches the subject of Bitcoin comes with an agenda or exposé.
This is a Bitcoin forum, we have no interest in picking and choosing what coins are more legitimate than others. Alt Coin specific forums can take on the task of making their own standards.
I'm not talking about this thread in particular, but I'm actually noticing that people "petitioning" against coins are actually just as spammy as the coins themselves. You are welcome to dislike a coin and post a warning about it/your opinion, but please don't post that same warning 57 times like some other people...
As a long-suffering oldtimer, I thank you for your realization that this is all cosmetic balderdash and everyone gets to stand on his/her/its merit. No favorites, no demands, just all to the wall. As in regard to scammers, it has always been proportional and unavoidable.

Excellent recollection, Rob! I felt like each turn of a page was total recall. Stripes to you and what a great effort. Not to add to your workload, but anything you continue to add is very appreciate. Bitcoin OldTimer, FF
Is gutshot saying anything useful yet or is he still up to his regular antics? I put him on ignore like 20 pages ago lol
P.S. I'm still convinced he is taking a rather large position in the IPO and is trying to scare everyone else away so as not to dilute his stake.
ddlink, I'll quote you on that! (shill?) I think maybe Max is up to his old antics? Max, Max Kiester? You really are the biggest ass on forum right now. Please let us know your take on the 1st so you can properly gloat about all the sheeple who dropped investing because of your rants. Bravo, kudos to the tactics and support crew. Your fingers and socks must be sore, take solace in the award of ETH you will pocket on Friday evening.

If I'm a shill, I sure have put in a hell of a lot of work into it:
I was actually using innuendo to describe gutshot5820 and you misunderstood. My apologies, as a canadian, I try to avoid the word sorry, but GS5820 is a real sorry case.
Ddlink, Thank you for anti-trolling and read my blogspot from June 2011 to get a clearer picture why I don't say much on the forums.

They have their purpose: "...to provide a rich base of BS from which the bitcoin community can grow..." Many have legitimate ideas and bitcoin will endure despite any assaults against its integrity. It seems we have a new giant troll population born of the altcoin epidemic. Very amusing posts countering every altcoin to the point of disbelief.

Re: Ethereum: 2nd gen cryptocurrency with contract programming, "dagger" hashing
I like the product, but really hate the price. Its 0.0001 BTC * 1.2 trillion = 120000000 BTC This is insane. I know that not all the coins will be available at start, but its wrong with many many zeros. This way, it is a scam, with a little development behind it.
Let me see... signed up in dec 2013, 27 posts and knowledgeable about mining PoW and PoS. A sock declaring that Ethereum is a scam. Perhaps you, the sock are the scam, please take your trolling elsewhere.

Re: Ethereum: 2nd gen cryptocurrency with contract programming, "dagger" hashing
(also NXT ipo was too short and invisible and maybe was even closed early, that's why price shot up afterwards. Had they waited long enough with high exposure to and broad discussion by the public, price would've been "exactly right" after ipo)
Do you mean it could/should have also been 0.0001 NXT/BTC?
The NXT launch wasn't invisible, not sure why people think that. Also, the goal of Nxt launch wasn't too have some Bitcoin Conference mass marketing IPO extravaganza. It was to get a working POS system launched and let the community take over. Yet many people have misconceptions about it being a scam coin. To me, a scam coin is one that draws hundreds/thousands of btc investment in a pre-sale and then caters to ASIC miners.
It wasn't invisible, but it was cut short with no advance notice to prevent further dilution of existing investment. A week later, they started selling NXT at a 4762% markup (yes, that's over 47X original purchase price).
That poll is so ridiculous i voted for Bitcoin just for kicks.
BitcoinjustforkicksCoin is a scam.. coin.. I would like to get molecular and GigaCoin's opinion on what ETH is all about? Opinions count.

This is an unofficial thread and some details may not be answered by the PR group or devs. I would advise the links provided by OP(tacotime) to forums/additional info be used, and not rely solely on this thread until formally posted by the Founders.

Slasher looks terrific! TacoTime gets a shoutout and thanks! Trolls focus on distribution model and are instant experts... Vitalik, hope to be sending code for testnet as soon as it is up for public beta.
Good work all around, can't wait.

This is not MC2 and I am not involved in its development, but I am closely watching this to see where it goes!
...
I am glad we have the giant distraction of altcoins a'mundo. This is the one to watch... It goes back to simple protocols and a wishlist of many great features. (I hope we can code the superstructure and basic apps before everyone else figures what this "alt" coin is.) For everyone who felt like they missed out on bitcoin's run - get ready, go! PS. I think I'm going to relearn assembly language and get back into python/go...
