It is clear that you have not needed too deep an analysis to reach that conclusion. The bitcoin market has proven to be so complex and influenced by so many factors that I think that starting this year, the normality will be this type of erratic behavior. I think that the big speculative capital entered at the end of 2017 in this economy is in charge of corrupting the foundations of this ecosystem, so that right now the market stopped representing the potential of cryptocurrency technology to become a classic pump and dump scheme.

Re: This is what happening to BTC

Undoubtedly, most people continue to define the value of bitcoin in terms of its fiat price, as if in fact the price of a currency as devalued as the dollar was an important reference to define the true value of bitcoin and its underlying technology.

So let's stop with false speculations and continue to promote the use of bitcoin as a truly functional and superior alternative to all current fiat currencies.

Re: Will crypto solve socioeconomic problems?
by

I think it's time to think of cryptocurrencies as an alternative to the current financial system, or as a replacement for fiat money, but not as a means to solve the fundamental problems of a country such as poverty. For this, state policies are required that go far beyond the simple use of one currency or another.

Re: Does ICO and bounty die?
by

I think bounties have become an important part of the crypto culture, so I do not think they will disappear. However, due to the gradual increase of regulations in the market, as well as the greater existence of bounty hunters and the increasing uncertainty of the investors, I see highly probable that the income to participate in these campaigns tend to diminish considerably with the passage of time. Therefore, I believe that the time has come when we must begin to look for new alternatives to generate income in the cryptospace, since fortunately, after these years of growth in this sector, there are more and more options for obtaining extra income, although maybe a little more effort to obtain the same income as before is required now.

Re: There will be a global cryptocurrency, but not bitcoin says EX Goldman Sachs

No, I do not believe that in the future a single cryptocurrency will dominate the world trade and finance because that would imply a type of centralization that is not convenient for anyone. However, I believe that in the long term only very few cryptocurrencies will be needed to cover the world's economic needs, just as currently only very few fiat currencies are needed to satisfy world trade (dollar, euro, yen, etc.). In addition, we must take into account that the tokenization of the economy is already underway, so countless tokens will be emerging in the coming years.

Re: Cryptocurrency Will Kill Cash ? Is this True
by

on 23/10/2018, 15:45:53 UTC
I believe that cryptocurrencies are called to play an important role in the economy of the future, but I still do not see the potential to completely displace the use of fiat money, as this is the only system that the world has known for many centuries and is unthinkable the world is ready to change this reality overnight.

Therefore, it is more likely that cryptocurrencies can become an efficient payment system, but they will have to live for a long time, perhaps forever, with fiat money, metals and many other things that man has used as a store of value, medium of exchange or investment.

Re: How Brexit will impact bitcoin

Personally, I do not think that the Brexit will bring important consequences in the crypto market, because I remember that the day when it was announced that Great Britain chose to leave the European Community, all the markets of the world shuddered in a very disturbing way, but in the crypto market an absolute calm prevailed. That was the time to measure the possible relevance of this event in the behavior of bitcoin, but once again it became clear that the crypto economy moves in a different lane than conventional markets, so I have always insisted on the uselessness of applying conventional technical analysis in the crypto market.

Re: how about bitcoin of this year ?
by
Freegan
on 23/10/2018, 12:33:52 UTC
Just look at the historical behavior of bitcoin to realize that there does not seem to be a regular pattern over the years, so every moment we must make a great effort to try to predict what may happen next. And I say this because during the last months we have seen a fairly discreet behavior in the market, which leaves all possibilities open by the end of the year, and this could even be the moment that many of us had been waiting for a long time: the moment when Bitcoin's volatility is drastically reduced and it can behave in a way that allows it to be more accepted as a currency.

It is true that the bitcoin has been gaining more and more space in the public debate, and apparently the conditions are given for a greater flexibility of the financial authorities of many countries to facilitate its use, however I believe that we are very, very far from that bitcoin really threatens to displace the use of fiat money in our daily transactions. Even in the most optimistic of my forecasts, I do not believe that bitcoin will represent 30% of the daily volume of economic transactions in the world, but I hope I am wrong and that the future will show me my error.

Re: How do we get the women on board?
by
Freegan
on 21/10/2018, 20:15:26 UTC
Well, in reality this absence of women is not an exclusive issue of the crypto-universe. I have had the opportunity to try my luck in an endless number of online businesses, investment schemes and different technological and financial issues, and it seems that women are not very supportive of this type of issues. Therefore I think it is too much to try to find a cause within the ecosystem itself, or to blame supposed oppressive or discriminatory systems. Most women simply do not care about the topic, nor will they be interested, unless they see it translated into cash.

Re: It can still happen again
by

on 21/10/2018, 19:24:09 UTC
I was just thinking and imagining the bull run that happen toward the end of last year when the crypto market became a cake of enjoyment for everyone. The story is on the contrary now. I am wondering and disturbed that can it ever happen again? My wallet coins are reducing in value daily. I am not completely sure if it can happen again.... somehow I still have little believe it may. Do you think it will happen again?

I think we should begin to rule out the possibility that an event of such magnitude will happen again in the rest of the year. Perhaps it sounds painful for those of us who kept alive the hope of a gradual recovery of the market this year, but there seems to be no solid reason to believe that this will really happen. In fact, observing the historical behavior of bitcoin is difficult to explain how something like that could happen, so we should consider ourselves fortunate to have witnessed it, because I believe that perhaps never again in history will we see a speculative wave of such magnitude in this market.

Re: BTC ROAD TO 5 K$
by
Freegan
on 17/10/2018, 23:10:06 UTC
I tend to think that bitcoin is more likely to stay in a fairly stable price range between $6,000 and $7,000, but I do not rule out that the price could eventually fall to levels even close to $3,000. But this possibility is not because bitcoin is losing its intrinsic value, I simply believe that the market should never have experienced the great speculative wave observed in 2017, and that an organic growth, more consistent with what was observed in previous years, would have bitcoin at a price just above $2,500 at the moment.

Re: Decision in panic!

No, the truth is that after almost ten years of experience in trading, one of the great gains that I have obtained is precisely my emotional control in the face of adverse market conditions, as this is usually a constant in financial markets and the only way to succeed in this business is learning to deal with uncertainty and volatility. That is why we must always depend on an adequate money management, a rational and prudent strategy and enough discipline to stick to it even when the strong storms may panic us a bit.

Re: Is etherium good for long term
by
Freegan
on 15/10/2018, 17:25:06 UTC
After a fall as painful as the one experienced throughout this year, I think that all those who believe in everything that the ethereum project implies should be truly enthusiastic about the possibility of buying ethers at a price as low as the current one, despite the FUD that many are spreading to discredit ethereum. Therefore, despite the fact that I see in bitcoin a safer investment in the long term, it seems to me that at this moment ethereum offers a greater potential for profitability in the medium term.

Re: Both Bitcoin and Ethereum are going to lose
by
Freegan
on 14/10/2018, 20:54:54 UTC
I have serious doubts that ethereum has the capacity overcome the current loss of credibility that has made it fall so abruptly in marketcap. However, despite the emergence of new cryptocurrencies that presume to be more flexible and technologically advanced than bitcoin, this has not only been persisted as the most popular crypto, but in these times of crisis it has been constituted as a store of value resorted by many of those who have invested in this market, so we should not be surprised that in recent months it has consistently recovered its dominance, rising from 30% a few months ago to the current 53%.

Re: Curiosity of bitcoin prices in the future
by
Freegan
on 14/10/2018, 20:47:02 UTC
Will bitcoin prices rise beyond 20k in the future, and whether bitcoin will only stabilize at a price of 8k - 10k and it will be difficult to exceed that price.
I would like to be optimistic enough to think that such a price is possible in the short term, but the current market conditions do not seem given for it, so I tend to be fairly measured when forecasting a price for the end of the year. In fact, we have all realized that the uncertainty in this respect is such that any scenario is possible and we should not rule out any option between a price above $30k or below $1000, however, given the adverse conditions of the current scenario, I would be quite satisfied if this year closes with a bitcoin at $10k.

Re: Simply predict the future of bitcoin
by
Freegan
on 14/10/2018, 20:32:49 UTC
I totally agree that history, and especially the historical performance of markets, is never repeated in a regular and easily predictable way, as some suppose, and that is why one of the most common disclaimers observed in the world of Finance is "past performance is not indicative of future performance", therefore, it is puerile and futile to try to predict what will happen to the price of bitcoin even in the short term. What does seem to me a fact is that the crypto market seems much more sensitive to rumors and psychological and emotional aspects than conventional markets, so it will always be an obligation for those of us related to this market to be continuously informed in order to be attentive to the possible turns that the crypto-universe could give.

Re: What keeps you motivated to Hodl?

on 14/10/2018, 20:19:47 UTC
In fact, time has begun to clarify the panorama regarding the true potential of the crypto market, so I think we should begin to demystify beliefs such as the "to the moon" that many holders assumed a few years ago. We must already be aware of this: even the bitcoin will never be worth a million dollars, nor is it true that buying a cheap cryptocurrency will guarantee us a great long-term gain. And the good thing about this is that it will force us to rethink the true value of cryptocurrencies in terms of their technology and not in terms of their marketcap.

Re: The biggest problem of altcoins
by
Freegan
on 14/10/2018, 20:06:03 UTC
In fact, this dependence so big that altcoins have on the price and behavior of bitcoin should be an extra incentive to focus on the only cryptocurrency that has proven to be the most precious in this crypto-universe, bitcoin, because despite the supposed great advantages and improvements offered by the new cryptos, it seems that those who have decided to invest in them only do so in order to speculate and sell them as soon as they obtain the desired profits, only to buy bitcoins back.

And although that may be harmful in the end for all altcoins, the big winner will always be the King Bitcoin.

Re: How is the crypto industry going to look like in 5–10 years?
by
Freegan
on 14/10/2018, 19:49:35 UTC
At first I tended to be very optimistic about the future of cryptocurrencies in the long term, however we must be aware of the following: ten years ago, nobody ever imagined that something as advanced and sophisticated as bitcoin would come to emerge virtually from nothing, to become the technological revolution that it is today. In the same way, at this moment I think that no one can visualize what technology will be offering us to solve the problems that right now the blockchain can not solve, so I am convinced that in 2028 the technology will continue to surprise us with more advanced solutions than we have now.
