Solution A - Size Increases
Solution B - Side-chains

True Solution
- Will be determined as we approach the true date of settlement in 2016.

Side-chains are far fro "solutions". It needs more development to call it as a solution.

Two known CIA/NSA assets infiltrated in the Bitcoin community - Gavin Andresen and Mike Hearn - have joined forces to push a hastily concocted privacy nightmare/scamcoin, which they call Bitcoin-XT.

It is currently completely irrelevant, owing to an absolute lack of financial, economical, technical or social support.

Are you spamming? Its not a problem to oppose XT but don't spread FUD or disinformation. If you have valid proofs, post it.

I think the most is still too many hackers. Need to be carefull to really feel safe storing btc in web wallet.

Why store coins in a web wallet when you have better wallets? Install a local wallet [1] or buy a hardware wallet [2].

GreenAddress.it wallet is an online wallet. If you are looking for a lightweight desktop wallet, you should go for Multibit HD or Electrum.

It is one of the best online wallet. In fact, I don't think there is any other wallet which is as secure as this. But, recently, some people have claimed that there are some problems. I highly recommend you to first test with small amount and if it is working properly, use it. Don't forget to save the locked transaction. It is needed to recover your funds if their site is down.

If you have just searched "GreenAddress bitcointalk", their official announcement thread comes. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=521988.0

Re: Blockchain split of 4 July 2015

Isnt this causing a systematic problem. I mean if the pool this error originated from now gains less trust, and the miners leave the pool due to lack of trust.

Now the pool can go bankrupt, and the other pools consolidate. Isnt this increase the risk of 51% attack? I think this is the main concern mostly.

As if the mining pools get sabogaged by these things, it can become very easy for 1 pool to gain monopoly and then face 51% attack?

Does anyone have an answer to this? I am more worried of centralization than rather blockchain split Sad

I know that this thread grows fast but please can some1 answer to my question, its really important. I am really concerned about mining pool consolidations. How big risk does this pose?

Almost all pools don't do this because they will loose their block rewards. So there is an incentive for miners to not to do this which will prevent >50% attack. Besides, miners moves their hash power to another pool if this happens like they did when Ghash.io had nearly 50% of total hash power. This is not a big concern unless if more pools start closing down.

Re: Can I have bitcoin core open and star armory too or only armory can be open?

Which version are you using?

I explained in my post that I would rather not close bitcoin core because it seems stuck downloading the "last 9 hours" of the blockchain and if I close it I might get the reindex problem again, so that' why I wanted to open armory, to see if I can check my offline wallets now, but without closing bitcoin core for the reason explained. So I can do it? there's an option in armory?...to uncheck that option I'd have to open armory at the same time as bitcoin core open now. Want to make sure it's ok to do so before opening armory.

Thanks for your reply.

You only need to open Armory for syncing when Bitcoin Core is run as a background process to download blockchain. You don't need to run Bitcoin Core manually for downloading blocks. That is why, I am asking "why you need to run Bitcoin Core and Armory simultaneously?" Why don't you run Armory alone?

Why do you want to run Bitcoin Core and Armory simultaneously? Is not Armory enough?

Usually, Armory runs Bitcoin Core in background. I think if you uncheck that option, you may not get any problem.

Watch-only wallets does not contain any private key. If you did not save private keys, your Bitcoins, if any, are gone.

Edit: It's look like above two were faster.

Follow http://www.stanley-adams.co.uk/2013/12/custom-vanity-bitcoin-address/.

By the way, which part is hard for you?

Everything. I'm not coder and I don't understand it, so it's really hard for me even with step-by-step tut. Let's say I'm asking for someones ready to use binary..

 -snip-

Can't you copy-paste those commands in terminal and click enter/return? Hope errors are not there.

Which version of OS X are you using?

Half of the commands are not working, that's it..

I have 10.9

Which all commands are not working? Didn't you follow those commands in the same order? Changing order may cause problem because of unmet dependencies. I maybe able to help you with this via TeamViewer or similar but more secure software. For this, you will have to trust me because you are giving access to your computer to an unknown person(me).

So for now is risky to make a transaction? Without use core wallet?
I used electrum wallet.

I think only incoming transactions are risky, because they can be double spent easily.

Double-spending transactions won't work because transaction included in the blocks in question are invalid blocks and will be rejected in Bitcoin Core 0.10.x or 0.9.5 and Bitcoin Core <0.10.x switches to longer chain(main chain) which will also make those blocks useless. So the transaction you got earlier won't be there when those blocks are rejected. That's why, you should wait for ~30 confirmations or near to it for making sure the transaction you received is included in longer chain(main chain).

But outgoing transactions should be fine i guess Smiley

No, its not. Like in the above case, if your transaction is included in invalid block but not in valid block, your Bitcoins returns to your address when that chain or block is rejected. You will have to make sure your transaction gets enough confirmation.

Some1 please confirm this!

In other words, wait for more confirmations than usual.

Payers, technically speaking, are unaffected, despite that your payees may require more confirmations than usual

Re: [Need help please] Transaction sent since yesterday not yet confirmed !!
by
Friki Verax

Probably because of low transaction fees

https://blockchain.info/tx/6d18a727d39ec2f59baa065f6094f266e26db7989a16866b8561eb55649e4fe6

But it should take no more than 6hours to confirm.

The issue is, I didn't mess with the transaction fees since I installed Bitcoin Core.

Only to this address the priority is "Medium"

And 6 hours has been passed already, we are entering into 13 hours right now.

There is no amount left to use as transaction fee and hence, the fee is 0.00001004BTC. Wait, that is what is best to do now. Next time onwards, check transaction fee before you send.
