"Finally, there is the question of what happens if other alternative digital currencies also rise. More than a dozen digital currencies are trying to compete with bitcoin. Can you imagine a world in which we all transact with dozens of different currencies every day with different rules? Neither can I."

Frankly I am surprised by Sorkins lack of research and understanding of the topic.  This quote says it all for me.  Does he not understand the current F/X market?  Different fiat systems from various central banks all manipulated for inflation, employment, trade balances etc...by governments financially, morally and ethically bankrupt.  Bitcoin or any digital currency for that matter eliminate these externalities.

I historically give my nieces and nephews silver coins for the holidays.  Usually a Morgan or some 90% dimes and quarters as part of their gifts.  This year...I'm breaking tradition and would like to give them a fractional btc.  Anyone have ideas how I could accomplish this without them having a wallet?  They are ages 16 and under and their parents probably don't even know what a bitcoin is and I'm tired of interrupting their Dancing With The Stars to explain stuff to them.  Am I alone in this thought?  If so, wouldn't be the first time.

Thanks, I was wondering also Smiley

C'mon, I don't read instructions but even I caught that one.  Well kinda.  I had 5 hours and was wondering where's my posting power?   Now I need to add a few posts to this subsection of the forum.  Then...freedom!
