BitSharesX

Solves some pretty big problems IMO:
  • transaction times (10 seconds flat, 5 on average)
  • volatility (bitAssets, like bitUSD)
  • profitable (bitcoin, as a system - operates at a net loss... how sustainable is that??)

Also - poll seems faulty - I don't have the option to vote... I can just see the results

BitShares truly is the 'Berkshire Hathaway' of the crypto ecosystem.  I was incredibly skeptical when I first heard this analogy used but after researching daily since last November... I really can't think of a better analogy.

This platform is the bitcoin killer, and I don't say that lightly.  Think of any problem any other crypto has, and I'd challenge you to find out if its not solved through the BitShares platform.

The 3 MAJOR issues I believe BitShares has solved are:
  • Transaction times - 10 seconds. On the dot. No more of this 10 minute confirmation [ON AVERAGE!] B.S.
  • Volatility - With the coming advent of user-pegged asset markets; one can store their value, cryptographically, in an asset that has relatively low volatility in comparison to bitcoin (i.e. the US Dollar - this will be 'bitUSD')
  • More decentralized than bitcoin by orders of magnitude - there are what, 5 mining pools?  BitShares secures the network through DPOS (delegated proof of stake), through 101 delegates that are elected.  You choose the good guys, the bad actors simply cannot sustain their efforts. [also a hat tip to the US founding fathers...1776]

BitShares is your 'savings' to your bitcoin 'checking' and MUCH MUCH more.  I cannot say enough good things about the core team and their efforts as well.  Good people doing it for the right reasons, not hiding behind pseudonyms, because they don't need to.

Like testz mentioned, check out the bitsharestalk forum and discover your own opinion.  You'll find me there.

I'll also chime in for BitShares.  When I first heard about 'Protoshares' - I was skeptical.  However, I've been researching and following this development for the past 10 months, daily; and am completely blown away.  This platform is the bitcoin killer, and I don't say that lightly.  Think of any problem any other crypto has, and I'd challenge you to find out if its not solved through the BitShares platform.

Re: DUAL snapshot for BitShares PTS!

Great post! (and super intuitive infographic too)

For everyone who isn't familiar with BitShares PTS:
I'll share a couple of great analogies that have been floating around and have helped my understanding how they relate to the market of the BitShares platform.

  • PTS are like the geese that lay golden eggs - for every new DAC that is released, those who already own PTS will get a stake (like Xeldal mentions, typically 10% - but can also be more!  It's all up to the developers of the particular DAC how much they'd like to allocate)
  • PTS are kind of like a heart rate monitor for DAC ecosystem - The market depth illustrates the public perception of the DAC being launched.

I think BitShares X as an investment instrument will prove to be invaluable to situations like what we saw yesterday with massive swings in bitcoin prices.  The ability to store value in crypto assets such as bitUSD, bitGOLD, and many others; that peg prices by a prediction market to the actual assets, will inevitably eliminate the volatility of BTC before price discovery is found.  Which means stability to the BTC market can happen sooner than the mass adoption needed to create a stable price.  THIS is what's going to make BTC investments and holdings stable to the point people will be much more comfortable spending, transacting, and saving - without leaving the crypto ecosystem [vs. having to convert directly to fiat].

  • Domain Squatting
  • DNS Poisoning
  • Long DNS Propagation Times
  • No need for specialized hardware anymore. Just needs to be able to run the Bitshares Client.
  • Eliminates downtime and censorship
f***ing great stuff ...

+1!

It's better to wait some time to see some feedback from more trustfully people than risk.

newbie "G1ng3rBr34dM4n" says download this and enter all your passwords - OKAY!  Grin

Alright, alright - I understand where you're coming from :-P

I get the "newbie" status - if its any consolation for credibility, I spend most of my time over at the BitShares forums, same username.  I also wouldn't have posted my real name if I didn't believe in the product, you can find me on twitter too - I've been tweeting about Pheeva for a few days.

Trust no one.

Agreed, however this was covered as a legitimate project on the Let's Talk Bitcoin podcast - http://letstalkbitcoin.com/tag/pheeva-hot-wallet/

The LTB crowd normally do their homework on anything they cover so in my view this does warrant a closer look.

Thank you lorix.

The Sovryntech podcast I was referring to can be found here if anyone's interested: https://soundcloud.com/sovryntech/sovryn-tech-special-0019-the I love how excited he gets when talking about the wallet!

2. Verify your email / password

Very phishy.

Perhaps "register" or "sign up" would be a better way to describe it..?  In any case, I'm still super impressed how clever their approach is to getting around Apple's bitcoin restrictions.

Hats off to the developers.

I've been lurking for a while, but finally felt compelled to make a post for something that really impressed me;

and that's the Pheeva hotwallet

I first heard about it on Let's Talk Bitcoin! But it finally clicked with me on how it works when I listened to the latest Sovryntech podcast (Texas bitcoin conference wrap up).  Simply put, the devs of the Pheeva wallet have figured out a way to 'hack' the iOS ecosystem.  They created a co-op in order to push enterprise apps through web browsers (vs. downloading through the app store).  Here's a link for their trial membership: http://pheeva.com/comm/

IF YOU HAVE AN IPHONE:
1. Sign up for their co-op here: http://cogcoop.com/
2. Verify your email / password
3. Open the link in your e-mail from your phone
4. Download the app (just click on the link and it will start downloading on your phone)
5. Set up your Coin!D & create a password
6. Set a PIN to initiate a session and voil?, you're up and running.  Super simple interface.

I don't have anything to do with the company, again - I was super impressed of the out-of-the-box thinking of these guys to make this wallet work so smoothly on an iPhone; it truly is easier than using blockchain.info in a browser.

If this works well for you, feel free to buy me a drink - my Coin!D is: Brian Falther (& I'll be sure to pay it forward.)
