Re: Self victimization

This is very very true. And it is getting even more and more widespread. To me, it seems as though liberal politics is the major vehicle driving this. The problem is very real but mostly neglected. I liken the situation to that of the shepherd boy who keeps crying wolf in jest. The problem is that when the wolf finally shows up, nobody will come to his rescue. And this is what is happening today. People are getting more desensitized daily to real issues in the society because some people made a fuss out of something else.

Yeah, as we all know, this is the panic season. Everyone is bothered about the prices. So, we are mostly having the wrong discussions. Too many times I hear people asking if this is the end of the road. And I'm starting to get fed up. We shouldn't as much be focusing on the risks involved. If one knows the benefits of Bitcoin before investing, their reaction to price drops might be totally different. Most panic sellers came in only for the profit; not even recognizing the potentials of cryptocurrencies.

Re: Are we evolving backwards?

There is a very specific context in which you speak. And I think in this context, some things are rather hard to concede. One of them is that man has hardly ever evolved forwards. There's something that bothers me. It is as though the more intellectually we advance, the less morally we grow. And I really do not understand this phenomenon. I believe strongly that it does not have to be so. I know that our humanitarian problems are deeper than what technology can solve. But sadly, many people do not recognize this and are getting even more lost.

This is the usual stuff we now find everywhere. Most of these panic sellers just have the same manner of communication. You simply throw around some random statements that are not backed by any figures. And hope that someone is scared enough to be affected by them. If I could find a detailed report or statistics attached to your post, then I might even start believing you a bit. For now, I beg to differ. Prices might have dropped but they aren't as bad as you claim that they are. Holding on has actually been paying off for me personally. And I still intend to even buy more.

Re: Bitcoin global regulation
by

There are certain facts about Bitcoin that makes it unattractive to mainstream investors. I think it's one of the reasons this year has been a tough one. Surprisingly, in spite of the good news spilling in from some angles, the prices keep dropping. So, this might mean that the problem might be different from what we are used to. And I think this is why we might need a little different approach. More and more people need to be able to trust the market and the currency. This is where government regulation might actually play a role. Many will just feel better investing in something backed by the government. Of course, it may be otherwise with some people.

Re: can bitcoin in the future surpass gold?
by

on 18/08/2018, 06:57:01 UTC
There's a particular point I've been trying to make to crypto market observers. And it is very simple. There's really point in comparing Bitcoin and natural gold. As long as gold is still mined, it will forever remain valuable. Nothing will change that. Bitcoin however is backed by technology. And technology can only keep evolving. But it is we humans that will determine what direction it evolves in. The future has room for both cryptocurrency and gold. There's no need whatsoever to set up a contest between them.

I get asked this question a lot. And the range appears to always be the same. Between $250 and $300. Honestly, this is good money for a solid phone. But the truth is you shouldn't expect just too much for that amount. If you're a very adventurous person, then I would suggest Vivo V9. Beautiful smart snappy phone. But the problem is the customer service. Of course, this completely depends on the country you are in.

Our minds are little houses of their own. So many things live up there. And just like every house owner, we all want some privacy and security. Imagine if everyone could read my every single thought. Then every lady will know if I wanna get in bed with them. Things could go really awkward. But it could mean good too. In few cases maybe since I'm not so very attractive.

Re: The End is near ... Bible fulfillment.
by

There is no good evidence in support of that. If all humans would die, that would not be the end of the world, that would only be the end of all humans and if the earth would explode that would not be the end of the world that would only be the end of earth. There is no good evidence that the end of humans, the earth or the world is near. If you are extremely religious you might think something as silly as the end of the world being near, but there is no rational reason to believe such a ridiculous notion. The world has trillion billion years left, the earth has at least 1 billion years left and for humans. Not sure because of war and the monetary system but i would say at least 1000 years or even millions or even billions of years if we stop using the monetary system at some point in the future.

Re: What is the most ideal form of government?
by

on 13/08/2018, 10:45:12 UTC
If we define ideal as in perfect, then NONE. there is no ideal form of government starting from authoritarian to democracy. democracy has proven to be less damaging than others but this means not that its the most ideal. But if we mean ideal as in suitable, then you can say democracy.

Re: What is the most ethical way to reduce the growth of human population?
by
GG_Maker
on 11/08/2018, 18:24:25 UTC
There is no need “to reduce the growth of human populations”! Human populations are self-regulating and the current population rate decline is happening naturally, concurrent with the growing role of females in the paid workforce and within society. True, some patrioarchical regions are lagging behind, but it’s obvious that the societies that can harvest the creative and intellectual capacities of their female members will out-compete those that limit female participation. (Islamic and Latin American societies continue to struggling with one hand tie behind their backs.). With female participation comes declining fertility and population growth. Today we’re headed toward a more equatable equilibrium of the human population with the resources available (strongly resisted by the retrograde elites in power).

Re: Thoughts on node count for a decentralized network
by
GG_Maker
on 09/08/2018, 10:07:08 UTC
Just a quick reminder that the pure nr of nodes is not the most important thing here. F.ex., if all nodes run on AWS, or run by a few companies/entities, that's still a central point of failure, even if there are many nodes. Geographical location is somewhat important as well - not only to avoid points of failure but also influental on propagation times (although I'm not sure if that's actually true or not, and even if it is, it's probably only about milliseconds).

One could even argue for importance of nodes distribution between different cultural groups, but here we would be already entering some rather philosophical grounds, I guess.

My contribution to this topic is this:
Easily accessible contraception, followed by women’s education. This is working - it’s just something that takes time to work itself out, and most countries are at some stage or other in the demographic transition between high infant mortality, few people reaching old age, and a high pregnancy rate to keep the population stable and high life expectancy, low infant mortality, and a pregnancy rate that is observably low enough that the population will start falling again once the whole thing has worked itself out.

Re: Regulation of Bitcoin
by
GG_Maker
on 01/08/2018, 09:45:09 UTC
There are a couple of ways in which government intervention can influence the price of cryptocurrencies. First, governments can regulate the price of assets, such as fiat currencies, through buying and selling actions in international markets. Second, they can tamp down excessive enthusiasm for an asset class by saddling it with regulations that increase the cost of doing business. An example of this approach is bitcoin regulation being considered across various states in the United States. Most states require surety bonds or an equivalent amount in fiat currency for cryptocurrency exchanges within their jurisdictions. Finally, governments can also make the asset scarce by imposing controls on it. An example of this is the case of gold, which has import restrictions in several countries.

All three types of actions have the potential to fail in the case of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. This is because cryptocurrencies are extra-national and have decentralized ledgers that are spread across multiple countries. Their regulation will require a well-coordinated effort across several economies. This might be a difficult task, given varying levels of interest in cryptocurrencies and their impact on national economies in different places.

Re: SHOULD WE KEEP THE PENNY
by
GG_Maker
on 30/07/2018, 12:34:37 UTC
There's literally no reason to keep the penny! We've seen many, many other countries do it with NONE of the negative repercussions the penny lovers prophesied. Prices didn't go up. Charities didn't lose money.

1. They waste time! (we all hate that idiot who counts out their exact change at the grocery store)
2. They waste money! (it costs more to make them then they're worth. It is LITERALLY not worth the space in your pocket to be carrying around a penny.)
3. You can't even use them! (Try buying anything in all pennies. You'd have to carry around a small bag of pennies just to buy a pack of gum. Most newer vending machines don't even take them anymore! I have literally NEVER used a penny to buy something in my entire life.)

Re: Do you think spanking is wrong?
by
GG_Maker
on 29/07/2018, 12:16:46 UTC
I don't think spanking is especially wrong, per se, I just think it's likely to send the wrong message. When you spank a kid, you're not putting into their mind that what they did is wrong, you're putting into their mind that what they did results in pain.
Maybe some people might view them as one and the same, but they really aren't, and I believe making that distinction makes all the difference. Firm boundaries, rules and, in the event of misbehavior, discussion and punishment within reason. Talk to your kid, make them understand, and then, take away the TV or the video games for a few days. That's what I believe in. That's how I was raised and I turned out okay, after all.

Re: What's the point of democracy when there's only 2 parties?
by
GG_Maker
on 28/07/2018, 07:53:11 UTC
1. For those who don't know the difference: A republic is a state with an elected leader, mostly called a president. It is not necessarily a democracy.
2. Democracy means the rule of the common people - and no, the US are an oligarchy (rule of the few), ruled by the few with money and/or media influence. So are most other so-called "Western Democracies" today.
The input of the people is restricted to voting every so often, after that they can only protest in the streets, and we all know how much impact that has.

Re: Becoming rich and higher taxes.
by
GG_Maker
on 27/07/2018, 09:26:01 UTC
Yes as a matter of social justice the rich should pay more, it's not about penalizing the wealthy but merely a case of helping those less fortunate.

What needs addressing first though is to close up the tax avoidance loopholes that wealthy individuals (and business's) exploit in order to dodge paying their fair share. If the ordinary man in the street pays even £10 short in income tax the inland revenue are quick to hound him yet multimillionaires get away with murder and no-one bats an eyelid because tax avoidance is legal. Let's tighten up the taxation laws and give a fairer system for all.

Re: How do you get over your grief?
by
GG_Maker
on 26/07/2018, 15:06:19 UTC
Here are my points to consider:
Don’t try to fight your feelings. Allow time for your thoughts and feelings, both positive and negative.
Talk to someone you trust about how your friend or relative died and how you are feeling.
Don’t be afraid to cry a lot. Crying is an important part of grief and will give you a release.
If you have to clear out the person’s home or finish off any business they left, it can be helpful to try to do it sooner rather than later. Ask a friend or relative to help.
Remember to take care of yourself. Eat well, get plenty of rest and get some exercise.
Some people find it helps to write down how they are feeling or about their loved one.
Some people find it helps to go to a support group and talk to others who have lost people close to them.
Be patient with yourself. It will take time, and some days will be easier than others.

Re: World population is very small.
by
GG_Maker
on 25/07/2018, 00:58:45 UTC
The world population is way too high! Our earth once was a beautiful place until we started to pollute it. We are creatures that use up a lot of resources and space. Our oil supply is already running low and with our population constantly increasing every natural resource will be used up.
We also are killing animals, more people need more space so we just destroy the homes of others. We definitely should control our population and keep it at the same level.
