I'd love more pics / info if possible on them. I'm interested in running a similar set up, though only starting with two miners and a single dps 1000w psu. What are you making around $15 a day? Only a couple months and they will pay for themselves!

Hello mate

They are hashing at 1950-2000GH using BTCGuild pool and the last 24 Hour Earnings according to BTC Guild is 0.02563142, which is about 9-10USD or 6GBP. Not sure if thats any good?
It's about the same using this calulater https://alloscomp.com/bitcoin/calculator

your profit after electric costs (on the miners alone) is currently ~£50 per month.

wow, whats the cost of running electricity in the uk? My guess is high, because he should be earning FAR more than £50 a month.

Hoping to add to this every month  Grin

Nice mining rig. Simple yet effective. Not just need to turn that laptop into a raspberry pi and ur good to go.

Thank-you all for your interest.
The PSU is a Dell 2100Watt and its quite loud but rock solid, the cables and unit doesn’t even get hot, I made all the cables using 16awg and 14awg, in the end I soldered the cables onto the rear of the PSU because the terminals are tapered not squared, also this will make more reliable connection.

The router is a Cisco 2811 which is modular, allowing me to add more interfaces when required, this is instead of the crappy TalkTalk broadband router from the ISP. This setup is running 30 miles away from my house in my dad’s Pub loft, and I have made an IPSEC VPN tunnel from my home using a Cisco ASA 5505 firewall. This allows me to access all the devices remotely.

Interesting how people are asking "why the laptop", it’s not clear from the picture but the laptop has a console cable plugged into the router allowing me to have a "physical" presence if for some reason the VPN tunnel fails and I need to access the router, also Team Viewer is installed which again is just in case there is a VPN or Telnet/SSH problem (Basically I’m a tinkering bastard and sometimes mess things up).

Quote
a. What's the laptop for?

b. Why don't you put the router/switch just on top/beneath of the S3's?

PS I like your recycling of the packaging material...  Cheesy

The reuse of foam packaging is deaden the vibrations from the dell PSU and Cisco router.

The router does get warm and was concered about warming the ants Smiley

All miners are overclocked at 250 with a total hash rate of 1950-2000GH

PSU costs: £25
Connector block cable and Plugs/Pins = £20
Below is the wiring setup.

You might find this thread I started useful. IMO its much better to use a server PSU then an ATX PSU. 1 its 5x cheaper to buy, 2 your not running at 90% load and 3, server PSUs are made to be hammered 24/7. Only down side is its fecking loud!
When I go to visit the miners next time, I will get the wattage at the wall.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=832616.0

Oh, it is a server psu. I figured it would not be a good idea to run a consumer grade psu 24/7 under hard load lol

that's calculated at 13p per kWh - which is mid-range pricing... if you have business rates it's likely to be somewhere 10-11p/kWh

yes. expensive.

Where the miners are it has Economy 10 which means the rate goes down from 12p to 5p for 10 hours of the day.

that's pretty cool.

Even a pawn shop should be able to test, but they would most likely destroy the casing.  Your best bet is to find a local coin shop and have them use a karatmeter.

Yeah, it turns out that they are fake. Even though I've known the guy that I bought them from for years (wasn't a coin shop), it turns out he didn't scam me, it's just that he himself didn't even know that they were fake because they looked the same, weighed the same, and measured the same as real ones (to the untrained eye).

I hope no one thinks that I was trying to pass them off as real, and now of course I can't afford to buy another casascius coin so I'm going to lock the thread.

When I have the money to afford another casascius coin I'll make a new thread.

If i order Antminer L3+ now , do you know when i will really receive it ?
If wait too long maybe is better to buy used one but it will cost more.

Don't they are scamming by not releasing to March when they know the difficulty will not ROI!  Right now I have 5 L3+ when they were making 1.25 coins a day now they are making only 0.3381664727261184 in 24 hours.  That is for 5 miners that means you will not make no 2 coins by March a month!   Bitmain is out to destroy the Litecoin profit!  Without getting 1 new unit a month you can not stay up with the difficulty and they are intentionally doing this to make sure you do not ROI and they make the money!  I started mining with my 5 in October 1st and now down to not even .4 coins in that short of a time.. There will be no profit by March!  That is .3 coins less every month so add the month of Jan, Feb, and March and I will not even be at .1 coin a day!

They are holding and mining....I have a buddy ...he is getting a mess of (or did) dirty L3+'s with replacement fans..(ya think maybe they might be mining these puppies?)

thus the wait til March....rinse/wash/repeat the ways of Bitmain are the usual 'yawn' evil.....its a grind ...but Bitmain feels someone has to take advantage of all you

prosperous miners of any asic flavor Smiley

(Bitmain:Day to Day Evil: is a grind, but someone has to do it!) (tm bitmain)

What I would like to see is more competition. Bitmain pretty much has the entire market to themselves. What is stopping someone in America with a bunch of money from making their own miners? Is it because the chips have to come from China?

Any local coin shop should be able to test them for you w/o opening the assay card.

Both LC and I have Sigma Metalytics verifiers that can do the job, too...

I didn't get them from a local coin shop so I didn't have a machine to test them with, but the serial number on my bars are definitely not smaller like your website suggests. The first "C" in my serial numbers never cross with the "essayeur fondeur" logo like your website suggests they would if they were fake. I don't know how to explain the other discrepancies but I still doubt they're fake, maybe there is some other explanation? Either way, I'll find out for sure soon, but already one of the details on my bars don't match up with one of the details of the fake bars on that website.

I have several Cas coins I would trade for a fat pile of gold.  When you are done chatting with dazed, send me a PM

His big fat pile of gold is fake. Giveaway is the identical QR codes (real ones are unique per serial #)  Sad

https://www.fakebullion.com/index.php/component/k2/item/44-pamp-suisse-fortuna-1-ounce-gold-bar-in-veriscan-assay-card

Looks like I have more research to do but from what this website says mine do look a lot like the un-genuine pictures.

I'll obviously only now be offering to pay via Bitcoin and not these bars until I get things straightened out.

I believe there is trusted escrow on this forum who can test your bars.

I've already messaged mj to handle escrow as I've used him before for handling physical escrow deals. He said he can't test precious metals but knows a trusted escrow that could for me to use, but now obviously I have bigger fish to fry than trying to buy a Cas coin. Going to get this straightened out first with the man I bought them from. Until then obviously I can't offer these for payment, but I still doubt they're fake.

[WTB] Casascius coins

Looking to get my hands on a couple Casascius coins after I foolishly sold mine a year ago. Message me if you have any that you're interested in selling whilst the price of bitcoin is on the up and up!

Escrow required of course, as I'm primarily looking to do a trade deal for some of my precious metals.

edit: only offering to pay with Bitcoin until further notice, not precious metals.

This is a great setup. However, I'm quite concerned about the costs that you will be making for paying your electricity bills.

Don't be, it only takes a couple of days to pay off the entire electric bill for the month, then it's all profit Wink

I wouldn't have sold the coin if I didn't need to spend the bitcoin, thus I no longer have the bitcoin.

AH. Now I see.

Try not to think in terms of unrealized gains, just imagine if you hadn't had those bitcoins back when you needed them.

Very true indeed!
