[2018-03-21] Ethereum and Stellar? Mobile Messenger Kik Embraces Two Blockchains
by

on 21/03/2018, 14:49:56 UTC
One crypto token on two different blockchains?

While it might sound unlikely, social messaging app Kik has announced it'll be doing just that with its "kin" token, which allowed the company to raise $98 million in an initial coin offering (ICO) in September. After some back and forth about which blockchain the company wanted to host its crypto token on, Kik has decided to use ethereum (on which the tokens were first launched) for liquidity and stellar for transactions.

The decision comes only a few months after CoinDesk reported that Kik was thinking about moving its crypto token fully off ethereum and onto stellar due to high transaction fees and slow confirmation times plaguing the ethereum network.

[2018-03-19] Stablecoin to HODL? Pizza CEO Nets Millions for Crypto
by

on 19/03/2018, 14:36:58 UTC
A fixed price coin whose value increases over time? Only in crypto.

Coming out of stealth mode Monday, crypto project Fragments is revealing that it has raised a $3 million venture round led by True Ventures, with additional participation by Pantera, FBG Capital, Founder Collective and Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong.

Co-founded by Pythagoras Pizza founder Evan Kuo, the project was originally designed as a gig economy token but has since pivoted from that vision to one that addresses a fundamental problem in crypto: the need for a token that can easily trade in and out of government-backed currencies.

[2018-03-15] Moscow's Blockchain Voting Platform Adds Service
by

on 15/03/2018, 14:03:27 UTC
Moscow is extending its use of a blockchain-based voting platform to the city block level.

Announced today, the municipal government of Russia's national capital has launched Digital Home, a service allows neighbors in high rises to electronically vote and communicate on issues like whether to replace the building entrance door or hire a new management company.

The service uses Active Citizen, an electronic voting platform that runs on a private version of ethereum.

Each year, Moscow residents hold five thousand to seven thousand face-to-face meetings on such matters, according to a press release issued Wednesday, but such gatherings are getting harder to arrange in a busy urban environment.

[2018-03-14] What Should Be in an ICO White Paper? Expert Take
by
Giftcoins
on 14/03/2018, 12:30:07 UTC

The rising popularity of Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) — and an accompanying spate of fraud and market volatility — has prompted an overdue debate in Washington, D.C., and around the world, about the proper regulatory policies for ICOs and cryptocurrencies more generally. Some of the most common questions involve the appropriate division of authority between the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and whether their authority should reach deep into the heart of the cryptocurrency ecosystem, the spot market. Still, others contemplate whether or not an entirely new or alternative regulatory regime is needed for cryptocurrency and token fundraisers, not only here but also in Europe and elsewhere.

[2018-03-12] Thomson Reuters Is Using Your Feelings About Bitcoin to Make Invest
by
Giftcoins
on 12/03/2018, 11:08:35 UTC
How does the world feel about cryptocurrency?

Announced Monday, media giant Thomson Reuters has launched a new bitcoin data feed designed to make it easier for investors know that very answer.

Included in the latest release of the company's MarketPsych Indices product, a suite of investment tools analyzing everything from companies to sovereign bonds, the bitcoin sentiment data feed will use AI to analyze more than 400 sources of data, scouring news articles and social media posts in search of actionable insights.

Using metrics such as "greed" and "fear" both accredited an non-accredited investors can identify hedging opportunities or create buy-sell orders when a particular trait reaches a certain level or changes over a certain period of time.

And while Thomson Reuters has long tracked bitcoin prices, and last year made a push into applications of blockchain technology broadly, this week's launch marks the firm's formal entrance into products made specifically for cryptocurrency traders.

Yes i also think that markets don't need so big price like that , bitcoin good price is 3-6k for now . 12k is to much to get moving again to 20k . We need cheap price and a lot of new money and investors to come back here to starting to buy bitcoin again . Also we need get hype back , nobody talk about bitcoin now on TV like before January when every day on TV talking about Crypto and investing in that.

BTW ? Why Mt Gox Needed to Dump the price ?

[2018-03-08] Possible Hack Of Third-Party Tools Affects Binance Exchange Users
by
Giftcoins
on 08/03/2018, 10:36:37 UTC

UPDATE: Binance Reverses Irregular Trades, Resumes Trading Amidst Community Confusion About Hack.

Users of Binance, the top cryptocurrency exchange in the world by trade volume, are reporting suspicious activity in their accounts stemming from an apparent hack on Reddit, March 7.

Binance has stated that the issues stem from third-party tools and that “there is no evidence” of the platform itself being compromised. The only users affected are those who have issued API keys on their accounts.

Reddit user shashankkgg originally posted in the Binance Exchange subreddit that all of their altcoins were sold at market rate.

Another Redditor wrote “My balance dropped by 25%, I now have VIA and 3 of my coins were sold in their entirety. I bought one of them back, only to have it sold again.”

According to their post on Reddit, Binance stated it is investigating user reports of “issues with [users’] funds.”

While Binance is investigating the issue, they have disabled all withdrawals.

Moderators of the CryptoCurrency subreddit recommend several courses of action for traders using a portfolio management tool or third-party trade bots that use Binance API keys. These include disabling those accounts on Binance or the tools themselves, disabling trade access to the API on Binance, or resetting the API key.

That is no point to buy Bitcoin now because its not clearly position of where we are. If price will earn new high and will go upper better to buy there then buy at 10k and don't have any sure that we could go lower and lower at any time . Also is good position to buy Ethereum i am sure it will have good and strong future.

[2018-02-26]COINDESK - Goldman Sachs Latest Bank to Label Crypto A Business Risk
by
Giftcoins
on 26/02/2018, 19:54:42 UTC
Investment banking giant Goldman Sachs has cited its connection to cryptocurrencies and blockchain as a potential business risk, public records show.

In a way, the disclosure echoes one published last week by Bank of America, which warned at the time that it faces both competitive and compliance risks as a result of the technology.

According to the Feb. 26 filing, which constitutes its annual report for the fiscal year 2017, Goldman believes that it might be impacted because of its work with clients and the companies it has invested in. Goldman is an investor in payments startup Circle (which announced today that it had acquired crypto exchange Poloniex) and is one of a number of investment banks that offers its customers access to bitcoin futures markets, as reported by Bloomberg earlier this year.

The company wrote:

"We may be, or may become, exposed to risks related to distributed ledger technology through our facilitation of clients' activities involving financial products linked to distributed ledger technology, such as blockchain or cryptocurrencies, our investments in companies that seek to develop platforms based on distributed ledger technology, and the use of distributed ledger technology by third-party vendors, clients, counterparties, clearing houses and other financial intermediaries."

While no obvious connection was drawn, the risks highlighted - particularly on the cryptocurrency front - may form part of the reason why Goldman has thus far eschewed any closer involvement in the market.

In January, CEO Lloyd Blankfein denied a past report that the investment bank was eyeing the launch of a dedicated trading desk for bitcoin (though he did leave the door open for such a move at a later date).

"We're a prime broker and so if our clients are going to do it, we're going to do it. A principal bitcoin business where we're going long and short, market making, so far we're not," he said at the time.

Disclosure: CoinDesk is a subsidiary of Digital Currency Group, which has an ownership stake in Circle.
