Re: [ANN] ShipChain - Disrupting the $10 Trillion Shipping & Logistics Industry

Good write up on ShipChain below:

Partnership with Purdue Farms - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perdue_Farms - a 6 Billion dollar private company specializing in poulty distribution. ShipChain finished its prototype last year and are launching their pilot program with Purdue during this quarter. And that partnership is just one of many more coming. On telegram the devs confirmed more partnerships in the works that they won't disclose until they're finalized.

Former VP of DHL Global Forwarding is on the team. Not an advisor... the team. DHL tasked this guy to work on a platform project to fix the ineficiencies in the industry, and then proceeded to throw nearly a billion dollars at this project. Didn't work. What DHL didn't realize is that the platform needed blockchain, and thats what ShipChain brings to the table. The fact that DHL committed so many resources to solving this problem is a huge green flag that ShipChain is tackling something that needs fixing. They are trying to distrupt a *multi-trillion* dollar industry.

Now go look up BiTA - The Blockchain in Trucking Alliance. This is an organization that includes UPS and FedEx: http://www.nasdaq.com/article/ups-steers-into-blockchain-trucking-alliance-cm880232
Guess which ICO is a part of that UPS/FedEx blockchain alliance? ShipChain: https://www.freightwaves.com/news/shipchain-joins-blockchain-in-trucking-allliance

This isn't something that looks to compete or rival Walton/VeChain, but to work with them. This isn't for BMW or Wine supplies -- its for the truckers and freight operators that deliver the products that VeChain and Walton will authenticate. I highly reccomend reading their section in the whitepaper on how the industry works now to see that this compliments Walton/VeChain rather than competes with them.

Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments

Greetings fellow Byteball fans,

I'm quite new to crypto, but after much research I've come to the conclusion that this is the project I'm investing in. After much reading, I've come to love the community and the infrastructure that is growing to support this "best of breed" technology. Congratulations to Tony and to all of the talented people that have worked so hard to get things to where they are.

Don't be discouraged by the current price, crypto is a monumental paradigm shift and we are still in the very early stages with a long way to go. I believe that most of us who are invested in Byteball now, understand that it is something special and we are in it for the long term.

The past distribution efforts (which sadly, I was completely unaware of) were an honest and noble effort to do the right things, and thankfully Tony was wise enough to stage it in a way that significant funds remain so that adjustments can still be made from knowledge gained.

My thoughts are that a significant portion of the remaining bytes should be allocated to attracting the best talent to help with all that needs to be done, and allocated to a variety of marketing efforts, including more exchange listings and explaining just how awesome Byteball is for users, merchants and investors (much, much more can be made of Blackbytes). There is so much going on - it needs to be explained in an easy to digest, organized and coordinated fashion, with high quality video tutorials and outreach campaigns. Perhaps it will turn out to be a good thing that the technology be at an advanced stage before making a big splash.

I'm not sure if its been mentioned before, but perhaps another complimentary method of distribution could be to find a way to give new users some free bytes when they download a wallet...

I'm also quite surprised at how the name "Byteball" has grown on me in spite of some initial misgivings - I also like the simplicity of "Byteball" over "Byteball Bytes" as displayed on coinmarketcap.com, Cryptopia and elsewhere. I believe the name Byteball can grow to be a highly trusted and recognized brand. The technology is simply outstanding.

Moving on, I'm hoping someone can help me with a wallet issue:

In my eagerness to get started, I initially made the mistake of choosing the full wallet for my Windows 7 Pro laptop, but as I later learned, this is not a good idea with a typical hard drive. For obvious reasons I'd like to revert to the light "default" version.

However, no matter how many times I try to reinstall the wallet on my laptop (after deleting %LOCALAPPDATA%\byteball and C:\Users\-----\AppData\byteball , as well as C:\Program Files (x86)\Byteball and/or using the Windows uninstall function), I cannot get the light wallet to work. But if after a reinstall, if I choose the full wallet option, it does at least startup and begin the syncing process, although I'm not sure it will ever finish...

(NOTE: I have since successfully installed the light wallet on a Windows 7 home desktop unit but due to Cryptopia withdrawal issues, I've not yet had the pleasure of spending / transferring some bytes or experimenting with the wallet features.)

Here's how it goes:
Initially, after a reinstall and choosing the light wallet option, I get this message: Uncaught exception: Error: failed to write conf.json: Error: ENOENT: no such file or directory, open 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Byteball\undefined\byteball\conf.json'

After restarting the wallet, it shows"Uncaught exception: Error: Failed to switch to light, please restart the app". When restarted, I'm shown the same message again every time.

I cannot find any information about this error message anywhere.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. First time using a forum like this - please excuse me if I mess something up - I'll get better with a little practice.

Was... was that you who just bought the order book?

Page 22 of the whitepaper: "Perdue AgriBusiness ranks among the top United States grain companies. Annual sales exceed $6 billion. ShipChain and Perdue Farms will work on a pilot project to implement blockchain technology through key parts of Perdue Farms’ supply chain."

I looked into this some more. Perdue is one of USA's largest poulty/pork/beef manufactures. THE biggest on the east coast, and elsewhere I believe only Tyson is bigger. Very impressive partnership.

Re: [ANN][ICO] 🚀 Confido - Trustless escrow payments with shipment tracking 🚚
by

How will Confido manage to prevent the buyer from scamming the seller? If for example, the item shows up in working condition but the buyer says it is broken? The sellers only option is to refund the buyer, who is handling the disputes?
Confido has a really clever solution to this built into the smart contract. If you receive a box of coal instead of a ledger, you as the buyer can just freeze the funds in escrow. That way the funds don't get released to the seller. This creates a huge disincentive for fraud from the seller's perspective because they won't get paid, and they waste money on shipping. Once a contract has been held up by the buyer, only the buyer can release those funds to the seller.

But what if the buyer commits fraud - can I just claim I got coal instead ledger to get my money back? No you can't - once you freeze, your funds are in escrow, and you don't actually get your money back unless the seller authorizes the refund. Thus, there is zero incentive for either side to commit fraud, short of pure spite (there is just no tangible/monetary benefit you can receive by trying to defraud each other). For the .00000001% of buyers or sellers that truly are spiteful despite zero benefit to themselves, Confido will be implementing Kleros.io, directly into the smartcontract which is an awesome dispute resolution/voting jury blockchain, as an intermediary.

Sinking feeling that we are being played here. All these articles about Draper... its like a coordinated pump. Freaks me out. Anyone else get this feeling?

To be fair, everyone made fun of the Gnosis ICO and it seems to be doing fine.

How do we make it grow?, coin needs a better site, and mobile app in app stores.

What else? Is there a roadmap?
