Re: is it official?

Official as in approved by ISO, no.

Likely to become official, yes.

BTC is out of the game because non-country codes can only start with an X.

Therefore, currently running candidates are XBT and XBI with rare mentions of others. Before you suggest XBC, it's already taken by European Union (though not in active use any more). Trust me, once you get used to it, XBT sounds quite powerful, definitely more so than XBI. Smiley

A thousand years. I wouldn't be able to access the content of a BR disc even today, let alone in 1000 years when I'm all wrinkled and senile. Cheesy

That would be exactly like saying "I'll wait for major telegraph operators to start accepting telephone before concluding it's going to be the new dominant communication technology." Smiley

Nothing is wrong with me, R2D2. I just tried to follow your advice and avoid using an emoticon to accompany my benign teasing. Since you're yelling back at me I'll take it it didn't work. Cheesy

Now, the question is, have I overestimated the intelligence of you as my reader or emoticons are actually helpful in getting the right nuance of the intended message across?

Speak less. Create more. No one cares about your ramblings. Offer value. Clear and attractive. People will care. And will throw money at you.

Michael, voting is not enabled until you reach the next member rank (30ish posts if I understand correctly). I have already asked the admin to remove this limit temporarily so we can gauge the opinions of a wider user base, not just people who actively post on this forum.

To prove my point on how it doesn't make sense to limit voting in this way - Michael here is an expert with several years of experience in typography and Unicode. He's been one of the most active and helpful members of the Financial Standards Working Group formed by BTCF to come up with recommendations regarding standardisation of bitcoin. And he is not able to vote in this poll here because he didn't complain 30+ times about how low the price of bitcoin is.

Again, @theymos, please help us get this poll right and remove the limit so that Newbies can vote as well. Thank you.

I can only say that if I was the one in the position of extraordinary power (as our current rulers from the shadow are), looking to overcome the market segmentation and rule the whole world, inventing a digital worldwide currency and hiding its "inventor's" identity would be the most logical course of action. To be honest, if  they really did do this, it's a truly work of art move as they made such an anti-authority guy as I am love the bitcoin. But even against all the odds, I am still hoping the romantic, rebellious version of the story ("Satoshi Nakamoto the hero outsmarted the powers that be" and all...) is how it really is.

I wanted to buy it in the iTunes store but it's not available (Thailand). If film author is reading this, please consider offering it worldwide.

So, how do I get the film? (I don't use a DVD player btw so ordering a DVD does not work for me.)

I understand your frustration, but try to stay calm and work on spreading awareness without being pushy. People are generally very protective of their ignorance and are just waiting for an opportunity to label you with something bad. But people are also naturally curious. So if you calmly but persistently emit a certain message or idea, people will soon want to know more about it and will come to you by themselves. People want to get value by using effort rather than accept the same thing by being force-fed. Also, always focus on "what clear and immediate benefit they get out of this" and not how cool something is or how it can change the world for the better. Smiley

Sounds like a good idea. Can't see the video right now as I'm on a dead slow connection but I like the concept described and will likely participate.

One suggestion to the person who wrote advice on how to shoot the video: Shooting around noon when the sun is overhead is a bullet proof recipe to make yourself appear as ugly as it gets. Actually, early morning or late afternoon light is the best for shooting anything, but especially people's faces.
