Re: How divisible are bitcoins and other market/economic questions

Satoshi told us to move the decimal place 3 places!  Cheesy

Exactly . Bits is stupid. Greek prefixes are stupid.
Just move the decimal. 3 places bitcoins revalue at 50 cents each, and the total number available goes up from 21 million to 21 billion.

Easy.

You don't need to rename or make new units and confuse the fuck shit out of everyone in the world.
You smart guys like the Greek prefixes and all that ...I know ... I get it , but if you want bitcoins to be successful , you better think about the dumbest person you know , and figure out the best way to handle it from their perspective.

I mean shit, try telling the average mcdonalds burger flipper you want to rename cents to uDollars and call 1000 dollars a mega dollar , and 100 dollars a centadollar, and 10 cents a decadollar or whatever , yeah I know I used the wrong prefixes, but that doesn't matter because either way their head is gonna explode.

Not sure I understand the question , but the price of bitcoin has never been linked to network hash rate.
The reason the hash rate increases like that is because of moors law, which is constant and exponential
. The reason Btc prices fluctuate so much is because there is more speculative trading back and fourth than actual use of Btc in the economy. Although if you look at an logarithmic curve of the price , the value has actually matched that kind of patten to a degree. You have to understand that the 1,200 price was a tremendous bubble , there was no economic reason to support that kind of price yet. Everyone gravitates towards this idea that the price of Btc should follow supply and demand logic based on its production , ie how difficult mining is ... But that is only half the equation , you have to have economic volume and velocity on the other side , people have to spend it for goods and services , and there has to be a compelling reason to demand they spend Btc as opposed to fiat for that good or device , we don't really have that yet.

Landmarks and flags are not going to help.
Do something useful that has value instead.

One of the immediate steps that needs to be taken is to start dealing in uBTC or satoshis from now on on exchanges, wallets, charting sites etc.
We need to start talking about units of measurement less than 600$, the general public can't takenitbseroously that way.

Re: What should be the Price of Bitcoin in US$
by

God I get sick of stupid people posting stupid questions.
Yes peg it to something arbitrarily like gold. That makes a lot of sense.

The correct answer is that it will be a function of the overal value of the bitcoin economy and the velocity of bitcoins. Maybe bitcoin days destroyed works in somehow for the velocity.
And that will create deflation , which means the price will be forever rising.

Unless someone figures out how to peg a new unit of measuent to Btc on the blockchain which would auto peg the deflating Btc to some non deflating unit based on aforementioned mass x velocity metric.

Either way the price of Btc constantly deflates , just a matter of how to handle it

can anyone suggest what is the best graphic card for mining ??

1 or more graphic card is better ?

GpU can not mine bitcoin now.
If you can spend $10,000 usd budget you can get some ASIC , but you might still lose money, you might get no profit.

Best thing is to buy some bitcoin, price is low right now.

Use winkdex obviously.
And it doesn't matter with the volatility right now it's just as likely tongi up as down in the next 5 minutes.
Just go by winkdex and call it a day, or be a vag and use bit pay to covert to fiat. Although your a sellout if you do that.

Find someone to fund that is a brilliant innovator. Look for projects looking for funding that will innovate applications and services on the blockchain that will provide real utility value on the network, look for the killer apps that will be the Facebook or the instagrams of the blockchain protocol. That is how to truly become wealthy. Bitcoins may or may not last, but the concept of the blockchain / decentralized concensus network is not going anywhere , and there WILL be multibillion dollar companies grown from that technology.

And what exactly do you bring to the table ? A video?
Hahahaha.
What a loser.
We don't need another coin. We need talented individuals  to innovate applications on the block chain that have real utility. We don't need another useless altcoin. You sound like an idiot who just wants to get in on the scam coin scene.  I am more than happy to fund innovation that will further the adoption of the concencus network, I have absolutely no interest however in some idiot who wants someone else to create an alt scam coin for him to pump and dump.
You are a complete loser .

Incorrect . Fewer people in the market is a bad thing. And less fiat flowing in to Btc is bad.

Another newbie mining question.

Is there a meaningful difference solo mining from a windows wallet vs. using setting up CGminer?  I've found tutorials on how to solo mine but none which go into detail about why it's important to set up CGminer.  Does hash rate improve dramatically?

Yes solo mine.
Definantly buy it for $350 that's a great deal.
And solo mine from a wallet.
The best thing about solo is when u solve a block you get all 25 bitcoins contained and don't have to share with a pool

So i ran a quick calculation and it looks like that setup would return approx. 0.0023 BTC/day.....woot!  Its like i would have a machine to automatically run BTC faucets for me lol.  Whatever, sounds like pennies to some people, sounds interesting to me.

This could be a baby step into further investing into btc mining if i like it and understand it

Dude buy it ! Make bitcoins ! That is a GREAT deal buddy.

It's stealing no matter how you slice it. Banks have been doing it for years, corporations thrive on shorting the little guy on damn near everything and the govt has had it's hands in our pockets legally ever since the 16th amendment was passed.

Do it. It's fun and the worst case scenario is you end up not making any money and you are out $350 that won't even be worth $350 in two years.

Let's just say the difficulty levels back down, what sort of results could be assumed that a simple machine makes?  Again....rough guess, Im not searching for hopes and dreams of getting rich quick.
I tried to use a BTC Calculator and felt like an idiot...

Id say when the difficulty drops you could realistically make 10 to 15 bitcoins in that time really depends on the reset in difficulty

Are you actually defending him stealing? Wow, as if his circumstance might somehow make it ok to steal??
You are also a scumbag.

What are my thoughts ?
You will never make 350$ back with jalepeno , and stealing electricity from a business , and or taxpayers in the case you work for the government just makes you a fucking scumbag.
Even if you work for a bank , who is in fact the man, your still a scumbag for stealing.

Wow, some people here are real assholes.

Ain't that the truth. Gopher09 has no idea who OP is or what OPs personal situation is.

OP, if you want to buy the jalapeno, and you can afford to spend the money, my opinion is to do it. Buy it, plug it in, watch it chug away. You seem like you want to get into mining and I think you should. Get into it. Get your feet wet and have fun. Learn all you can about mining and the bitcoin network. Earn some bitcoin and then spend it. Give it away. Buy some, sell some, save some, get active in the bitcoin community. Talk to your friends about it. Talk to your family about it. Spread the word. Get others interested in bitcoin. Just don't expect to get rich mining, it won't happen. Unless you plan on going balls deep and even then it's a risky move.

I see so many people on this forum telling people not to get into mining because it's not worth it anymore. I call bullsh!t on that. Miners secure the network, even the little guys like us. We contribute.

Hi all....please don't bash your head into your desk because this is another "im new to mining, should i do this to make $" thread.  Well, it kind of is.. Tongue

I'm looking to get into mining bitcoin for fun, and any profit would only be a side bonus.  My goal right now is to do mining to make a bitcoin or two down the road, to hold on to them and hope that the price of BTC increases in the years to come.

Now I've done some research by surfing the good ol WWW, especially these forums, and understand the difficulty is trending on only increasing and mining for profit can be expensive if someone is serious....... but I figured I'd throw my scenario out to you guys/gals and see what your thoughts are.

I saw a few Butterfly Labs Jalapeno boxes on eBay that say they can mine at 10-12 GH/s for around $350 +shipping.  From what I've read, these are simple boxes you just plug into a PC and start mining (Im sure with a little set up).  If I'm wrong with that, please let me know.  If it's that simple I was going to click Buy and plug n play with it.  The PC I'll be using is a very standard home PC, Windows 7, nothing exciting about it.  The positive is that I will be running this machine where I do not have to pay for electricity.  No it's not my parents house, it's my office, I figured it's another way I can stick it to the man.

What are your thoughts?

Thank you!  Grin

Instant transfers seem risky to me. Anyone could forge a transaction and your chain would accept without any confirmations. The idea of getting confirmations is to make the network security stronger. You can set confirmations to around 4 and still be pretty safe with a quick turnaround.

But if there are no miners in network, and it is fully 100% premined coins?

If there are no miners then you have created a terrible useless system. The whole Point of crypto currency is to use proof of work (miners) to verify transactions / keep the ledger legitate and prevent double spends ect. What you are talking about is Centralized monopoly fiat money , your basically trying to take crypto currency and turn it back into fiat USD . No one will want your currency. You could just make more, manipulate the ledgers,  spend the same coins 1000 times .
You obviously have no idea what you are talking  about, and te fact that you are talking about creating your own crypto currency when you don't even understand how crypto currency works , at all, is absolutely ludaciss . I suggest you pursue another career , like flipping burgers , honestly. I'm just trying to save you time and money . Because you are wasting your time. And mine quite frankly.

Would like to ask you about new interesting alt coin specifications/

1)If I'll make 100% premine of my altcoin,is it enough just 2 peers(servers),that will be basic of my system?( I'll ise Bitcoin as source)

2)If people who will use my coin, should download the blocks?

3)How can I make transaction,without confirmation,so it will be instant transactions  ?(can i set confirmation = 0 )

Thank you.

Regards,
Apocalipsis

If I am understanding you , which I think I am, you wish to design an absolutely useless , worthless, waste of time centralized electronic Monopoly money? What new board game will you use this useless thing with?

I want to start a btc/ltc bank ,, any offers??

The whole point of crypto is that you don't need banks anymore , what a stupid idea.
Second of all , stop asking other people to do something for you and do it yourself you nitwit.
You say you want offers and ideas , you have nothing to offer in return unless you have capital to invest . Do you have 20 or 30 grand to back an idea ?

I have a couple good ideas , I need to raise about a million bucks for one of them, and I'm only interested in VC money that can put in 100k or more. And no I'm not soliciting , so please don't contact me , I already got most of it lined up anyway.

You nitwit. Did I already say that? Ah well ... Nitwit.
Did I mention also that your "idea" <- notice quotes , was total niwittery( stupid as it gets)
