Re: Will E-shopping sites ever accept bitcoin?

So it is a matter of time before Shopee review the use of cryptocurrency for direct payment as alternative to fiat.

So the adoption is already on whether Shopee is accepting Bitcoin now or not. They won't have choice by the time another big name opens up within their jurisdiction and sells same kind of stuff they do while accepting Bitcoin. Of course they would begin to lose customers.

No business or store will lose customers just because they don't accept bitcoin in their business, while their competitors do. The future and growth of a business depends on their products, services...and has nothing to do with bitcoin. Don't overestimate the importance of bitcoin, as bitcoin is just an alternative payment method if adopted, not the only payment method. It also has nothing to do with the business operations of those companies.

Using bitcoin as a payment method is just an option because it was created from the beginning as an alternative, not a replacement for any system or currency. This will depend on the decision of each business as well as the legality of each country.

Buddy, it is plausible to state as such, that it is possible to say a business outfit can lose customers if they are not in line with modern practices especially where they have a strong competition and competitors within and around them offering such modern practices as it relates to cryptocurrency. Shopee doesn't offer any cryptocurrency as alternative to their payment platform not even usdt. They only do that through third party and buying of gift card through bitrefill. Sometimes it will maybe inconvenient for a customer to always make payment using fiat. They say "variety is the spice of life", including bitcoin or cryptocurrency in the payment platform of a business is not replacing fiat with bitcoin but still playing the role of alternative payment system. After all those business outfit using Bitcoin have not jettison fiat.

A practical example is the cashless system and depending on your country, almost all micro businesses now own POS machine from where they debit customers with their cards or they receive bank online transfer from customer. The simple truth is that the pressure of business success via competition is forcing those SMEs (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) to operate modern tech services. Those that are still depending on physical cash are losing their customers, at least this is a practical reality in Nigeria. So Shopee will not continue that way if they have strong competitors.

Maybe not. Shopee is known for very cheap items and I doubt there will be people wanting to pay in bitcoin. And is bitcoin that big in south east asia? But I thought that if bitcoin gets accepted in shopee, it will be a huge sign of adoption.

https://www.bitrefill.com/sg/en/gift-cards/shopee-singapore/

I think they are still the few online shopping outfit that are yet to accept bitcoin directly for payment. They do that indirectly
through gift card and bitrefill is responsible for that.

What I think that makes a company begin to change or review some of their old policy is competition and I don't think they have such kind of competition that will force them to do away with indirect acceptance of cryptocurrency.

However, we know that Asia wasn't at the forefront of accepting cryptocurrency unlike Europe and US but they are beginning to join in the train of movement and speedily so. For example in Japan, ANAP a fashion company in Japan bought 50.5 bitcoin
Quote
In a headline-making development shared by BitcoinConfAsia, Japanese fashion company ANAP has purchased 50.5 Bitcoin, with plans to acquire up to 950 more within two months. While the move may seem unconventional for a retail brand, it underscores a broader trend of corporate Bitcoin adoption in Japan. This bold step not only reflects rising institutional confidence in digital assets but also positions Japan at the forefront of Asia’s evolving relationship with cryptocurrency.

This is a big progress for the continent of Asia who lately have been making legislation to also use bitcoin as reserve and adoption. So it is a matter of time before Shopee review the use of cryptocurrency for direct payment as alternative to fiat.

Re: Have you been addicted to gambling in the past.
by
Gozie51
on 22/07/2025, 03:22:55 UTC
This question is for those gamblers that were once addicted to gambling and was able to come out from addiction.

How did you go about it?

Was someone there to help you out or you took the bold step all alone?

Well I think I fall under this category because I almost got addicted, so my view will help those that are really struggling to come out of it.

I got to a level where I was chasing back my loses in football betting as my bet will lose and immediately I will restake the remaining games on the slip, hoping it will come out successful but to no avail. It seem as if I was forcing what was not meant to be to happen. So I can end up rebetting a slip until the potential winning will amount to nothing.

I think one erroneous thing there was that I was being over confidence in the prediction sites I followed and another thing was the fear of missing out (FOMO).

So, how I stopped was that I was able to catch myself from that habit of rebetting that same slip. I allowed a lost bet slip to go and not bet again that same day. I saw it as trying a luck that didn't favour me for that day to try again next time. With that I realize I gradually got out of that and this happened within few months, the reason that I didn't consider it as full addiction.

Note: One reason people fall into gambling addiction is using gambling as source of income. So when you chase loses, you are likely to be addicted.

Re: Crypto Betting vs FIAT Betting
by
Gozie51
on 19/07/2025, 12:27:16 UTC
Crypto Betting Platforms basically fall under two categories :

1. Centralized Crypto Betting - like Stake.com, BC.Game etc. globalize betting but pose risk in withdrawals and control of funds by the user.

I believe you have also heard and read of some many allegations about online gambling sites. If you have not then you can read through the scam accusations threads below. They are all passing and experiencing different challenges depending on what comes out of the gambling.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0

FIAT Betting platforms have long struggled with large dependency on payment solutions, trading solutions etc - which just makes the business expensive to expand - destroying the market for multiple sports betting tech organizations who have monopolized the industry.

What do you prefer in 2025?

Not true these days. Fiat gambling sites might have gone through such challenge of paying cash out and winnings to customers in the past because of the manual kind of system but now they have gone digital and with the numerous cashless policies, there are different micro finance banks and apps that have made instant cash payment for winnings and deposit for funding possible just as with cryptocurrency.

Microfinance institutions (MFIs) have added spice to fiat gambling because they can go into partnership with these banks and make even huge winning payment possible either through short or long time loan if the fiat gambling site choose to when and if they don't have enough cash by themselves. In fact, most fiat gambling sites have their accounts with banks from where they transact with customers. So I don't see such payment challenge from what I have seen so far in my country.

Therefore, the difference is quite limited if you are trying to compare cryptocurrency gambling sites and fiat. You can gamble from home using your app and maintaining your privacy both with cryptocurrency and fiat.

Re: point spread + total bet.

It is a random chance to win if you go for higher odds but the probability to win your bet is more if you go for lower risk odds. I do go for higher odds myself if I see most prediction sites giving the team with higher odd chance to win base on their stats against the team with lower odd. I would bet on higher odd for single game but not in a parley because the chances of winning the bet may be reduced if you add more games to it. For example with the Chelsea vs PSG game, at a point Chelsea got about 5 odd before it started reducing to about 4 odd and that was really crazy to give a team like Chelsea such odd, which was why we got many winners from the match form betting on single. But some bettors that added games to it ended up losing. I will bet more on single higher odd.

I guess Op is probably living in a country where there is high cost of living because of inflation but allow me to advise you. See, you don't have to lose hope. It is only the dead that doesn't have hope, if you are living then you have to be hopeful, survival is not easy anywhere even in countries that have better economy.

However, there are people that are still building their homes even in the country you are from. You have to work smart and understand how people are surviving there and to also meet up like them.

Again, I have realised that another solution to own your home is to relocate to a little bit remote area if you are living in a city. You can change location where life is cheaper and easier. There you can buy cheap land and start developing it, gradually you see yourself being a house owner. For example in the past like 10 years ago, I saw some remote areas where houses where built in low key but gradually those areas have metamorphosed to urban area. So you can also move to a remote area where you can start living life, cheap homogeneous setting.

Don't lose hope, even in difficult economy people are still buying big houses, cars and living large.

Re: Start Trading for Beginners
by
Gozie51
on 16/07/2025, 05:16:44 UTC

My strategy is 1/3  so I risk 1% of my balance to profit 3%
If i lose twice that means im only 2 % down
i dont do more than 2 trades per day  as overtrading leads on lost

my 1st live trading was a profit as I try to maintain  the discipline and risk menagment

In trading, risk management is very important.  The amount used to risk for your profit should be lesser to what you are aiming for so that even if you lose that trade, it won't affect your account size and discourage you to go for a potential winning trade. Just as you said 1/3 ratio is cool.

However, emotion is important to be put under check. Trading demo is not same with real trading because of the real money involved.

We also have to know it is very risky trading forex or CFDS. They are highly volatile and you can lose your capital at a go if you don't protect your account by using SL.

Re: Why buying Bitcoin in the dip is not always the best
by
Gozie51
on 15/07/2025, 21:05:47 UTC
I was expecting you would suggest better time to buy because what I have always known is buying btc when the price has dropped and this is same with other physical business, you buy cheap and sell above your cost price for you to have profit.

[quote author=TEBTC link=topic=5549752.msg65580540#msg65580540 date=175244834

Dips May Not Always Recover

Bitcoin price can remain low for  as much time as possible  or even experience a longer time period It's important to be aware that not all dips are followed by a recovery and that there is no guarantee of future performance examples was when the price of Bitcoin fell from $20,000 in 2017 to $3,000 in 2018 a dip that lasted over a year which affected alot of investors which where only concerned about catching in on the short price fall to make some gain if you buy the dip too early you might be stuck for a months or even a years as the case may be depending on how long the dip may last.

[/quote]

This is the point you made here, "if you buy the dip too early". So that is the factor to consider when buying the dip. If you have away to know when price has exhausted it fall then you can buy because it is going to start raising gradually. That's if you know how to identify reversal trend.

Re: Let's talk about companionship.
by

on 15/07/2025, 09:34:12 UTC

Despite the benefits of just gambling alone, there is also the beauty of gambling with other people that is undeniable. In this context, do you still prefer gambling alone?

I would even say the benefits are still far better than the noisy atmosphere of offline gambling. With the nature of online gambling where you gamble in privacy, it still doesn't stop you from meeting people who are sports fans. In fact almost in every gathering or meeting points, joints, social gathering even in religious homes, there are group of people who are fans of certain football club and or have additional kind of sports that they like plus football.

Online gambling in fact is now more affiliating with the nuclear kind of family system. You can live your family life without any interference with any third party, that is also the privacy that online gambling brings. So meeting people of like minds isn't a problem because you are secluded in your gambling activities.

There are people that still discuss with their friends on a certain choice of game of that they want to stake on and how much they want to stake with. Like I know PSG vs Chelsea match that many gamblers shared their optimism and preference before the match. There are also gamblers who belong to betting WhatsApp and telegram groups where they share ideas and betting choice before such game starts and yet they are online bettors. Big winners throw parties, like I know gamblers who won big in Chelsea/PSG game and they had get together party. So online betting doesn't stop physical meeting of gamblers.

With and without VPN, I cannot access.

Only few can access it, maybe the devs can do something about it.

You can check and confirm if your country is not blacklisted. Sometimes it could be network or you use a laptop device. But everything is alright here from my mobile phone including sports betting.

I like the design, interphase and I think they are not starting up as newbie. The unlimited referral bonus is also going to be a big inceptive.
