If you want to change your mind a bit about the last days drama, take a look at my website.

https://lisknode.io

It's nothing fancy but regroup a lot of links in categories and sub-categories all linked to the lisk ecosystem.

I know visual and CSS need some love but I'm a sysadmin and a back-end developer. I have no skills for that.
Please focus on content and not container.  Wink

Hope some of you will enjoy all the information in a one pager.

I maintain over 9 servers for different purpose on Lisk for a year. With all other fees included I took about 4500$ out of my pocket just for that. I also have passed over 1500 hours in the lasts year for multiples things. Stuff like what was metionned earlier and a lot more (alpha test, guides, snapshots servers, alternate explorer, etc) If you count just 10$ per hour, this would mean 15 000$.

You really have no idea whats it can represent to be a good delegate with your "it' only a 50$ a year server"

By the way. a 5$ server a month is the cheaper you can get for entry level vps. This is 1 cpu, 512 mb ram, limited bandwidth, bad latency, no ddos protection, etc. This isn't even enough to run a single low quality server for lisk...

Drop mic...

Hello Shift members!

We just sent our delegates a reward for running their nodes the best they can, and keeping their faith in Shift.
Since we want to say thank you to all our active members, please give us a nice word in the 'friendly channel' and you might be rewarded soon too!

Cheers, Shift Dev Team

Thanxs for the reward ! Servers are paid until October 2017, I'm here for the long run. Best wishes.

We will provide snapshots regular, if needed
Currently manually created, in future automatically

usage:
Code:
wget https://downloads.shiftnrg.org/snapshot/main/rebuild.sh
bash rebuild.sh

Hello Liskers, This week-end I've work on 2 new scripts.

## Script 1 - snapshot.lisknode.io improvement.

Automatically check each 2 minutes for a new snapshot (for now: gr33ndrag0n, mrv or isabella) and update new files latest.gz and latest.txt

Homepage: https://snapshot.lisknode.io/

More Infos: https://snapshot.lisknode.io/README.txt`

Usage Example:
Code:
bash lisk.sh rebuild -u https://snapshot.lisknode.io/ -f latest.gz

## Script 2 - https://lisknode.io/mirrors/ creation and auto-update.

lisknode.io now have an auto-updated mirrors section for high availability redundency.

Homepage: https://lisknode.io/mirrors/

More Infos: https://lisknode.io/mirrors/README.txt

Usage Example:
Code:
bash lisk.sh rebuild -u https://lisknode.io/mirrors/snapshot.lisknode.io/ -f latest.gz

I just worked a couple hours to update a bit an old guide.
After Step 5, I added a full new section: "# Firewall and Ports Configuration (Addendum 2016-12-03)"
Give it a look. It's not perfect but it add a lot of informations...

I did not like the voting system because it's corrupt. This is not what I expected. Developers using its biggest premine have put your friends in 101 delegates. it's a very bad. Centralized scam which controls several persons. I will sell all my Lisk.  Goodbye!

It's just temporary to make the switch to community slower (and safer)

LiskHQ will remove most vote and genesis completly. Check again a couple times in the coming week.

https://lisknode.io web site is progressing very well to be released soon. Today I've worked a lot adding some data to the page. "Services" and "Guides" section not completed but rest should be ok enough for release v1. I'm interested with anyone constructive comments ...

If someone have made a "git project", a "web site" or anything else lisk related that should be listed on the website, please le me know.

i checked https://explorer.lisk.io/delegateMonitor and saw LATEST VOTES. i there a way to see for which delegate the vote was?

e.g. https://explorer.lisk.io/address/6452926849492147101L

You can always read the docs and make an api call to any open api nodes. (I provide one at wallet.lisknode.io)

To make your life easier, an old timer lisker built a very nice website with this functionnality integrated.

It's MrV and his website is lisktools.io

For the address you gave you could use this address:

https://lisktools.io/accountInfo.php?address=6452926849492147101L

thank you very much for the answer. and this site is really great.

Your welcome!

I'm curently finalizing the testnet node security.
Do you want the node to be accesible from TOR ?
I ask because on some of my servers I use dynamic autoban of TOR exit nodes to prevent DDOS by TOR.
I think that active delegate node won't be using TOR, it would be too slow, so I don't see a problem with active delegate blocking those IP. Do you ?

What are the voting intervalls?

Voting is continuous and never stops.  Anybody can be voted up or down at any time.  This is why it is so important to have hot-swap Standby Delegate nodes (at zero reward) ready to go continuously to take the place of a $300K-per-year Active Delegate node that is suddenly voted down.

What could possibly go wrong?

This is where an attacker outside the 101 could DDoS individual delegates until they lose their position and the attackers delegate gets moved up into the 101.

I can't believe for one minute that, if there's enough value involved, this won't happen.

it will happen, just be prepared.

That kind of SHTF scenario is exactly why I'm finetuning firewall/autoban rule today on my testnet box

I guess we will see, sure thing is protection against a dedicated ddos botnet that send thousands of 'legitimate request' is always hard to block whatever the method used ...

vote for me (on testnet) !

It's only for a test purpose.

As soon as the node if fully configured up & running, it will be a pleasure.
There is a good chance I will ask you the same in time ...  Grin

Thanks, voted for you (nik009, right?) and also for Gr33nDrag0n !

Thanxs guys but this one was created on the https://login.lisk.io/ implementation.

I will ask you again later for my real stand alone node that I'm currently building. It take time because I want to build a fully secure container with DSN Entry for future monitoring SSH Key auth, firewall, brute force resiatant, etc And once I will my 'recipe' I will build the MainNet node from that 'Recipe'

DO you think it worth it to make the node PCI Compliant ? Like real world banking servers.
