Re: ARK - DPoS 🔹 New CORE v2.6 🔹 ARK Deployer 🔹 IPFS 🔹 Staking on Binance 🔹

All this development and bright new shiny features are great. What's not? The desktop wallet client. It works fine for you? Well good for you.

I however get the "transfer transaction could not be created" from time to time. With no hint or explanation into the actual cause. And then it suddenly just works. This code should be much much more robust, or you could at least give us more detailed error descriptions. Thank you!

Hey, Totscha can you update Desktop Wallet to latest release and see if that resolves your problems (https://ark.io/wallet v2.9.1 at the time of this post) and make sure that you are connected to the healthy peer (cloud icon) when you start to interact with your wallet. You can also join our Slack (https://ark.io/slack) and post your error in our #help channel there. One of our developers will be able to help you out or help resolve the bug or alternatively, you can also open Github issue: https://github.com/ArkEcosystem/desktop-wallet/issues/new.

Hi. I do have the latest client (2.9.1) and i did refresh the peer a bunch of times like it was suggested by the kind people of the interwebs. I guess I just got lucky after 10 minutes and found a good one. Smiley

I have two problems with this 'feature':
1 - In case of an error I have to:
    - close the Send dialog
    - go to the cloud icon to roll the dice on a new peer
    - open a new Send dialog and enter all the data again
    - cross my fingers and send
2 - When I connect to a new peer, all I get is the latency. There is no way to check if the peer is healthy.

Am I the only one who finds this UX design problematic?

If you are having that big of a problem I think it's abnormal and you may be running into some other kind of additional issue. I've only had a bad peer maybe 2-3 times in 2 years.

The ARK Wallet doesn't force you to connect to a centralized peer like most wallets. Due to this, sometimes you can end up with a connection to a bad or outdated peer. Usually in that situation, updating the peer with the cloud icon will solve it. You can also select a dedicated peer from the community and set a custom peer with the cloud icon to help avoid it.

Can anyone TL;DR for me what is ARK About and what is it for?

Thanks

Ark allows decentralized networks, storage and database systems, and currencies to secure themselves and safely communicate with each other and their users.

Thanks alot, so basically is a decentralized platform which allows storage and dbms to secure themself and have safety communication?

I think the key thing to focus on, if you only focus on one aspect of ARK, is the SmartBridge. We are building a method to bridge otherwise separate blockchains and allow them to communicate through a special vendor field and programs we are calling encoded listeners that can take a specific action when they see data in the vendor field. We have specific use cases we intend to build to highlight just how powerful the SmartBridge can be and all of our use cases will have the ability to communicate between the bridged chain and the main ARK blockchain to do some functions that previously weren't possible.

There are several community projects that are already available, or will be soon. There are wallets and delegate trackers already in the app stores, and it looks like now we have another promising community wallet app, which is really exciting. There is also a community built lite wallet, developed by FixCrypt, that will announced very shortly.

I am trying to work up a blog post to cover the community developed websites, scripts, and software so everyone can see all of the cool stuff that is out there! The Lisk community is very active in chat.lisk.io.

I think basing your votes on peoples current productivity on a broken client version testnet that forks for some people every 3-4 hours isn't necessarily the best or only criteria that should be followed. I appreciate Mal's work and efforts to push all of our names, but much more has gone into this than just current testnet productivity ratings and it doesn't tell the entire story.

My productivity on testnet is very low, but that is because I publicly acknowledged that I'm not even running a node right now and wanted newcomers to get votes over me. I was voted into the 101 without me even requesting votes, and so my node is not forging any blocks because there isn't even one running atm. This is my own personal decision to not run one on testnet right now, which I am fully aware some may view as non-dedication, but if that is how you view it, I think your priorities are in the wrong place.

I would recommend anyone who wants to run a node at any point and has not had an opportunity, please ask to be voted up on testnet so you can get some practice and exposure. I wish that the 101 testnet delegates were honestly no one currently in the reserve top 101 on main net and were others getting experience setting up the software. Even then, it will be a very frustrating experience until the forking bugs are fixed in the next version, but that is GOOD experience for anyone new to delegating.

There is much more to all of this than is evident and a lot of it is carried out in other chat channels and forums, which requires much more vetting and thought when casting votes. Voting for delegates is one of the most important aspects of Lisk and something everyone should take very seriously. Do your due diligence. Use what Mal has posted as one factor, but please look at the whole picture and make your own decision based on the criteria YOU feel is important. These are your representatives to the Lisk network and are responsible for it's security and well being.

Come in Lisk Chat and get to know everyone. There's a lot going on outside of BitcoinTalk. I would say 90% of what is happening with Lisk is happening outside of this forum.

Keep in mind, http://lisknation.com is a work in progress that I have just started. Still working on a logo and finalizing the design, elements, etc. But I am going to start posting articles and get some mini breakdowns up for previous news that isn't much out there, as well as a list of integrations and important stuff. Just give me some time to get it solid. In the meantime, let me know what you think about the articles as I get them up!

Depending on how the smart contracts were built and how the DAO was run, you could always have the decision making and investing process be isolated to an actual team of expert advisers who know more about venture capital and then allow voting rights on an annual or bi-annual basis on whether or not to retain each "adviser". This would have the DAO token holders functioning more as a board, but retain the ability to have the money in the fund managed by professionals and not up to the whimsy of a bunch of juvenile internet trolls.

Yeah, guys, please remember to add in the transaction fee. The client doesn't automatically account for it. So, if you try to send your entire balance, the transaction won't be allowed because you can't pay the fee. This is something that could be fixed through a tooltip or something in a later release. I'm sure we as the community can bring up a solution at one of the community meetings.

Thanks so much Grexx for all your help here, you are really wonderful person! Smiley

NP, we are all just trying to help out where we can so the team can focus on fixes and getting everything running smooth on their end.

Grexx I know you are genuine as I was able to transfer my lisk from here https://lisknode.grumlin.com/ to bittrex but someone posted this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9aLA0XJyHA and he said not to use any links with grumlin as they can steal your key.... please can you ask someonoe from the lisk team to confirm if not everybody will not use grumlin even its safe and genuine as Tai Zen said not to...

No one can verify 100% that Grumlin, the official wallet, or any other doesn't have some form of logging. It would be impossible to know what they were doing on their server without direct access.

However, in an SSL connection, it is much harder for the person to pull the passphrase from your sessions.

You can read about SSL here: http://www.symantec.com/connect/blogs/how-does-ssl-work-what-ssl-handshake.

Grumlin has been in the community for a while and has been working to be a delegate for months. I believe he means well and I personally don't believe he is pulling any passphrases, but I cannot guarantee it as I said in the original post. That being said, I would be shocked if he did anything to hurt anyone here. He has done a lot in testnet to help the community.

NOTE: Keep in mind, if you use a site without SSL, meaning you connect to an HTTP:// website and not HTTPS:// website, your connection to the server will be sent in the clear, i.e. it sends your passphrase over the wire directly to the server without any encryption. In this case, a simple network sniffer can pull your passphrase with very little effort. DO NOT connect to an HTTP:// server with your passphrase. This is the bare minimum precaution you can take.

Again, from my perspective, the network has been running great aside from one small hiccup this morning that Isabella already fixed. We have seen huge volume on the network and it's still running and pumping out blocks. The ONLY problem people have run into is the main wallets being down or not properly synced. The issue here is that once they are out of sync, it can take a while on a reload to sync back up and if you are seeing huge connection requests, it's just slowing those nodes down.

Multiple solutions and community run nodes have been posted here and as long as you are using an HTTPS node, that means the connection is using SSL and the connection is encrypted prior to sending your nodes information. Does it mean you are 100% safe, probably not, but it is considered by the industry to be standard encryption practices and generally safe.

You can use the network monitor here: http://explorer.lisknode.io/networkMonitor to see active nodes on the network (even if they aren't in the 101 it's OK). You can try accessing port 8000 on those nodes and see if they have SSL enabled, and if they do, they should be safe to login to for limited use while you wait for the official nodes to be repaired and get through whatever is happening.

We also have several trusted community members who have offered up their servers for access, here is a current list of some available wallets copy/pasted from Lisk Chat:

Keep in mind some of these are not at the correct block height or are stalled, so check the blockchain within the wallet to see if it is moving and if it is at the current block height. You can get the current block height from the top section of http://lisknode.io/ . If a node isn't synced up to the current block or is forked, your transactions either won't show, won't go through, will never get to the exchange, etc. The node has to be synced to the correct block height in order to have the transactions work smoothly.

The best explorer to use right now is here: http://lisknode.io/

Bumping the updated list to include https://lisk.host/ another trusted community delegate.

I am however a supportive community member and have been around this community and the Crypti community for a long time. I totally get the nervousness and understand if you don't trust people here, it's a good practice to uphold, but I'm here to help.

The community delegates listed are all running SSL on their servers which is about as secure as we can get right now. It's the same setup the official wallets are using. I'm not saying it's 100%, there are always weird loopholes and zero days no one knows about, but they are more trustworthy than a random crap shoot and are part of the delegate group I am personally voting for to run the entire network.

Thanks GreXX which site can I use now for the non technical people to access my lisk as https://login.lisk.io/ when i click the send botton is not working

I would say start with Grumlins as he has been around the community a long time and many have had success with his node.

The official wallets appear to be hit or miss right now.

Note: Remember to account for the transaction fee of 0.1 Lisk per transaction. The network / GUI doesn't automatically account for this and if you are getting an error in regards to amount of funds in your account, it is most likely because of this. It seems like funds from the advisor fund have moved and probably sold. Intentional or account compromised?

My guess would be that they had agreements with some of them to give them a portion of the adviser ICO funds in exchange for their assistance leading up to the launch. This is common practice for startups. They probably sent the agreed funds to whoever helped them. You should be able to see where the funds went in the block explorer and determine if they went to the Polo wallet or not.

Fucking LISK scammers.

I told you so … all you idiots who bought into the nonsense of a zero experienced 24 years old student, a shithead, UK based, inexperienced, software developer and a dishonest Garman lawyer who assisted this scam. Which legal professional in his right mind would assist such blatant scam like LISK is?

DDOS attack is my ass.

These wankers couldn't even put together a fucking centralized system, so it has just failed over. Having said that, a continues DDOS attack would be the fair treatment for these scammers, for luring money out from all these idiots. It's maybe time to mobilize the open source community to DDOS the shit out from these scammers. They are cancer in crypto and they must go away from crypto - to jail.

Send me the name and personal details of this wanker, UK based developer Oliver, and I will report him straight away and his epic LISK scam to UK law enforcement. Enough is enough. I stopped the Bitbay scam. I reported the Moolah scammer Ryan Kennedy to the police and he was prosecuted. I pressed charge against the Banx scammers. I reported the IOTA scam. Send me the details and I will report this wanker LISK scammer Oliver as well. More these scammers are jailed the ecosystem will be better.

Thank you, for Your support!

No problem. What's the details of this Oliver wanker? Post here or PM me, and I will forward it immediately to the UK police fraud unit.

I just have this one info, like everybody: https://lisk.io/team     There you will find twitter and linkedin links as well as foto.

You guys do know the network is up and purring along nicely right? It has been since launch. Also, you do know a whole bunch of people made a shit ton of money yesterday selling on Polo and other exchanges right? I mean some may have made less than others, but I think from looking at it, everyone with half a brain made more than the ICO price. Also, anyone who took five seconds to listen here or get on chat like we mentioned multiple times got help and got access to their funds.

The only problem at launch was that the main login sites got hammered with requests and got taken down. They had something like 50,000+ concurrent session requests. It probably could have been avoided, but they definitely aren't the first company to have such problems at launch, billion dollar companies have the same problem. When Batman Vs. Superman tickets went on sale Fandango was down for like 6 hours.

Haha I feel like this is a hilarious new phrase that should stay with the Lisk community forever.

DDOS attack is my ass.

Just take it on it's own, it's pretty fucking hilarious.
