Re: PhoenixMiner 5.6d: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux)

The new beta version is finally ready. You can download PhoenixMiner 5.7a from here:

PhoenixMiner_5.7a_Windows.zip (GitHub)
PhoenixMiner_5.7a_Linux.tar.gz (GitHub)

The new features in this release are:

  • Added lock core clock
  • The problem with the missing GPU temperatures on Nvidia GPUs is fixed
  • Added native kernels for AMD RX6700 GPUs. These are faster than the generic kernels and produce a lot less stale shares
  • Increase the max supported DAG epoch to 550 (should be enough to about Jan 2023)
  • Full support for setting clocks, fan speeds, voltages, and memory timings of AMD RX6900/6800/6700 cards
  • The specific hashrate is now shown in the form of kilo hashes per joule (kH/J). Example: if a GPU has hashrate of 30 MH/s with 100W power usage, the specific hashrate is 300 kH/J
  • Added new command-line parameters -ttj and -ttmem, allowing automatic fan speed control based on GPU hotspot (junction), and memory temperatures respectively. Example: -ttmem 83 will keep the GPU memory temperature at or bellow 83C by increasing the fan speed as necessary. These parameters can be combined with -tt, as well as with each other. These options are supported only on AMD GPUs that report junction and memory temperatures
  • Added new command-line parameters -tmaxj and -tmaxmem, allowing to decrease the GPU usage when the GPU hotspot (junction), or GPU memory temperatures are above the specified thresholds. These options are supported only on AMD GPUs that report junction and memory temperatures
  • Added support for AMD Windows drivers 21.3.2, and 21.3.1
  • Added support for AMD Linux drivers 20.50.x. Use this drivers only if you have Polaris or older GPUs, or the latest RX6x000 GPUs. WARNING: Vega, Radeon VII, and Navi GPUs won't work with these drivers!
  • Turn off the zero fan feature on AMD cards whenever a fixed fan speed is used (e.g. -tt -40), or when an auto fan with min fan speed is used (e.g. -tt 63 -minfan 35). To disable this feature, add -fanstop 1 command-line parameter
  • When -mcdag 1 is specified under Linux, the miner will not wait for the daggen.sh script to finish before starting to generate the DAGs. Instead it will for a fixed 7 seconds. This allows you to do all the following in the daggen.sh: turn off the overclocking of Nvidia GPUs, sleep for 30-60 seconds to allow time for DAG generation, and then re-apply the overclocking of the Nvidia GPUs
  • Other small improvements and fixes

The support for -ttj, -ttmem, -tmaxj, and -tmaxmem for Nvidia 3090 and 3080 GPUs is not yet ready for release. We hope to have it ready for the final 5.7 release.

For more robust integrity check, you can use our GPG public key, which was verifyed with ETH transaction from our main devfee account as explained here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2647654.msg56755869#msg56755869.

Re: Decentralized Exchanges

Decentralized exchanges do not have enough volume, but this is due to popularity. When decentralized exchanges become more popular, then the problem with small volumes will be solved by itself.

When everyone understands the advantages of decentralized cryptocurrency exchanges, and the exchanges themselves will have a more friendly and understandable interface, then the question of volume and liquidity will disappear by itself.

Hopefully we get there soon. 90% of the value of a DEX is that they are non-custodial. The other 10% varies by DEX, but users should figure it out soon!

Wow looks nice UI I will probably try this Im looking for a faster decentralised exchange unlike the most common FD its kinda slow while trading I dont know how this plasma thing can make in this new platform but looks like they are seriously building a fast and new decentralized platform in much more improved speed and security.

ice18 come check it out at live.leverj.io. There isn't much to trade today, but you can tryout the super easy login and see how fast the exchange is.

By that time i am not fan of this alts but because i trust my friend and i read some informations about thia even i am not a fan of this kind of technology i think this time im gonna love it. Just saw the thread reading some new and old good coins and boom i've found this. Great job Leverj Team.!

So basically, you are promoting LeverJ here, right? Why not compare it with known DEX, put a name on it? So it is easy for the user to really check the differences.

I have avoided naming specific projects because their models are ever-evolving and some claim to have solutions in the works that are not addressed in their own whitepapers. And there are so many shades of gray that the table would be massive. That said, it is probably a good project to build out that table.

And yes, I am trying to get the word out.

The Many Different Flavors of DEXs.
by

Often I hear that the confusing part for people is the "EX" of "DEX". i.e., what constitutes an "exchange".  The "D" is not without its controversy as well...as in the degree of decentralisation to qualify for being a DEX. Mostly they are all non-custodial (they don't hold your funds).

There are a number of decentralized exchanges on Ethereum that have come on the scene in the past few years. With a variety of different models, they span the spectrum of on-chain matching, orders, and settlement versus off-chain matching and order management.

Below is a table that compares competing models.

Wanted to follow up to help people understand the differences in the flavors of decentralized exchanges (DEX). Without all the security traders are exposed to front running, skimming, and more.

Surprising, there are so many DEX I never knew. Out of this massive list, I only use Crypto Bridge and Allbit. Often I try to avoid DEX for its slow loading process, limited listed coins, and small trade volume. I think we need a clean and faster DEX for everyone so it gets more liquidity.

Idex and etherdelta are the most common decentralized exchange I use especially when I want to buy erc20 tokens or when I want to sell it. For regular trading, I still use the centralized one since I mostly trade in btc/fiat pair. Decentralized exchange is good at one side but centralized exchange still better at some points.
Advantage for decentralized exchange is you can trade anonymously and you can take advantage buying on dump tokens from bounty hunters.
I use IDEX over Etherdelta  because it's more popular now and has a cleaner interface compared to Etherdelta but I think there will be a big decentralized exchange that is soon to come, which is the Binance Dex.

Relevant news about this one has a latest publication today.

New Binance DEX Testnet Launches in Less Than 24 Hours: Here’s What Users Need to Know

Thanks for the update. It is a good development. This is one of the DEXes that many are anticipating will be the biggest. At least, it will create a lot of competitions among all others.
By the time the Mainnet lunches, i will do the update.
I have been waiting for it.

Saw this on Twitter this morning, "The Binance "DEX" is as much a DEX as JPM coin is a cryptocurrency. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯"

This might also come from you. Therefore, if it is genuine and reliable, i will also add it. Thanks for your anticipated contributions.

wonder how customized plasma technology will do to a crypto exchange?
btw your gluon plasma paper is well-written in a technical manner, as expected.
but can you publish your team members on your website?
this kind of innovation needs faces so we know who are we dealing with...
Bharath Rao is the team CEO, there is a lot of youtube videos with the team if you go to the LeverJ youtube channel. Here you can see his face https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMq8KtxidyU Smiley

but it would be nice if they can publish the team members on their official website, right?
that is like their forefront where everybody is checking them out.
not all people want to watch a video at first look of the project. they will do that if they become interested to see more about the project.

I do agree with you, maybe this is something they might add in the future.
The team was under constant phishing and other attacks. Took down team page to quiet the noise.

Congratulation on the mainnet launch today, this is really exciting step forwards for the hole crypto community. A Dex that can work just as fast as an normal exchange and is more secure is defiantly the way to go. What will be the next steps for the Leverj-Team?
There is UX improvements that are coming very soon. From there we will be coding the fraud proofs. Learn more about them  in the Gluon Plasma paper  page 24. Then the coding of the leveraged exchange!

Interesting. A fast and easy to use DEX sounds almost unreal... Is it possible to get an idea of what the exchange can carry without drawbacks?
If the paper on the Gluon Plasma is explaining this then my apologies, it goes way over my head.

Is it possible to use the exchange without MetaMask?
Today you need to use MetaMask, in the future you will be able to use MyEtherWallet and hard wallets.

Not sure what you mean by "what the exchange can carry without drawbacks".

Base on your detail explanation, other cryptocurrency exchanges are not decentralized exchange platform? If they are not, then why do they classify themselves as being a decentralized platform?
The confusing part for ppl is the "EX" of "DEX". i.e., what constitutes an "exchange". All are non-custodial. (The "D" is not without its controversy as well...as in the degree of decentralisation to qualify for being a DEX). So there is a broad spectrum of what constitutes a DEX. Like LEVERJ is going to be a hybrid DEX, non-custodial, but with centralized order book and matching (secured by fraud proofs). https://blog.leverj.io/gluon-plasma-security-9d422180ade9

I am very particular about my identity and data being exposed to hacks and for this I am more secure trading on decentralized exchanges than their centralized counterparts.
There is always disadvantages beside various advantages. Yes it is true that decentealized offer a more secured way of trading there is no middle man but it also sacrifice the speed, simplicity and many more.
This is all changing. Leverj.io will have high speed, liquidity, and centralized feel for UX. Do your own research. Check out educational videos here https://www.leverj.io/education.html#videos
The speed of DEX depends on the blockchain and how the decentralized exchange site can determine how fast it is? The fact any transaction that runs on the dex just like sell and buys order will be pegged to the blockchain. But it looks interested to see that. It will be similar as idex

Except the LEVERJ exchange is going to run on Gluon Plasma, a side chain that will allow high speed trading and a UX similar to centralized exchanges. And other advantages, think of being in control of your coins while trading without these hassles:

Gas fees for every trade
Gas fees for every cancel
Signing every order manually
Confirmations needed for orders to be accepted
Confirmations required for fill before you can exit a position
Front running by miners
Front running by exchange operators
System unresponsive when network is congested.

Bonus: Liquidity.....

in General, they have great advantages in the fact that managers who leads these exchanges, as well as managers, just now a lot of deception divorced in the market, unfortunately there are people who are not conscientious, who are ready for different tricks, so in this case, such exchanges have great advantages
Leverj will be provably secure using fraud proofs. Do your own research. Learn more about fraud proofs at https://blog.leverj.io/gluon-plasma-security-9d422180ade9
