You have some basic understanding of an ASIC manufacturers "game".

Think more deeply/sinister and you might get closer to the real game.  Wink

Cyberphunk principals:

Privacy is a fundamental human right.
Everyone should have control over how his personal information is used.
The use of Strong Cryptography is essential for protecting privacy and securing data/property/money.
Decentralization of power and authority.
Unrestricted Access to Cryptographic Tools: Open-source, transparent software/hardware are key to this.
Activism through Code. Build better tools to create lasting change.
Development of systems that enable Anonymous/Pseudonymous Transactions, allowing people to exchange value freely.
Resistance against Censorship and Surveillance. Encryption + Good Opsec help counteract these practices.
Self-Governance and Personal Responsibility are absolutely critical to maintaining privacy and security.

And "hard" money !!!

BTC fulfills the most important parts of these principals yet there are some projects bettering it, that is:

Decred !!!
Monero
and some thoughts/parts of Zac and Firo.

Decentralized Mining (cpu/gpu/hdd) is a very important part especially!!! in the ISSUANCE PHASE after that ......

99.9999% coins are just gimmiks and even ETH is just a gimmik coin for me.

Once again ETHW and many other forks are done by the asic conglomerate.

 Wink

If they are done by the ASICS conglomerate why are we still seeing less than 300 T as a network difficulty for this coin specifically ETHW?I think that ETHW is created by a group of miners,Chinese enthusiast miners from what I heard and the reason is they did not agree with ETH moving to PoS so that is why this was created.

If ASICS were behind this coin we would see a lot of hash rate behind it.Nevertheless the new E9 looks profitable as it makes about 350 dollars monthly so I would buy one if I wanted to started mining right now in a very aggressive way.

You don't know how difficulty works?

More hashpower doesn't mean they make anything more ...
They would compete with themself ...

I don't see many ASICs

This chart has other data, but we will see the arrival of ASICs.

ETHW like DCRN or RVC is forked/created by the asic companies themself just so their machines can keep on hashing aka free money machines.

You guys fall for this over and over again since 2012.

I like PoW but the ASIC companies treat the community like shit, the only answer for a fair Pow algo is:

ProgPoW or RandomX

or

Precomputed hashes saved on HDDs (PoW with HDD space).

The only ASIC distribution that works half assed is for Bitcoin itself (sha256d),
for everything else you get gamed.

So let me ask you a question: How can miners (plural) gather behind eg. ETHW when ETHW is 99% mined by a single entity aka the ASIC manufacturer.
Sounds like an oxymoron.

Re: Mining Ergo and Ravencoin for 2024
by
Grim
on 08/12/2022, 07:55:12 UTC
Do you love hot algorithms?
I have always chosen those coins, the mining of which heats up video cards less and has less electricity consumption. Ergo miners have been mining for more than 3 years and the mining algorithm does not overheat video cards much, but I don’t know which coin is better.

Do you like shooting your own leg?
Do you love to compete with "hidden" hardware like fpgas and asics?

In order to achieve an egalitarian algorithm you actually WANT your given silicon to be used to its fullest ...

... that means YES the algorithm needs to use as many transistors and memory as possible ...

... which means YES the chip will heat up ...

... which means ProgPow for now is the ONLY way for gpus to stay relevant in mining ...

... which means GPUs, FPGAs and ASICs would run with very similar efficiencies (=egalitarian algo) ...

A low power "GPU algo" will ALWAYS fall victim to fpgas and asics.

Has nobody ever heard about photo synthesis ...

Also does nobody know what a greenhouse does/is ...

Yes I am all for reducing environmental pollution but blaming CO2 that is exhaled by humans and animals (also methane) is the beginning of taxing humans ... it is an agenda AGAINST LIFE itself.

Since cryptos are anti establishment/system it is an absolute necessity to run it, and by far not only for that reason ...
PoW has its own right/advantages/security over other consensus algorithm and therefore it is a crucial part for humans to let it run.

Nothing in the world upholds financial-freedom louder than cryptos do, your kids and grand kids can thank this generation for this crucial foresight.

The real communists (bolsheviks) sit in europe since years, you guys have it 180° wrong, and the propaganda is way superior and on a very high sophisticated level in europe/western countries these days beating the russian propaganda by a huge margin.
War is never the right answer but it seems like putin/russia felt really cornered in.
I am from central europe myself and I can tell you the war is wanted and fueled heavily by our "western" goverments.

The smartest move would be for ETC now to fork to a ASIC neutral more egalitarian hash alorithm eg. progpow.

ETHW was solely created for the reason to give all the ethash ASICs more breathing room (or a prolonged life).
That is why it is all in chinese, China totally dominates the ASIC sector (monopol).

Yes, you actually want an algorithm where a lot of devices achieve similar efficiency and ethash was a step in that direction.

It just so happens that progpow is the next evolution of this thought to achieve even better (asic) neutrality.

While with sha asics could achieve efficiency factor of 100000x

scrypt lowered it to 1000x

ethash lowered it further to 10x

and progpow lowers it to 1.1x

Why are gpu miners trying to keep ethash alive? This is a loosing battle since asic devices are already up to 5x times more efficient.
At the moment it is still a transition phase for ethash asics but gpus are on the loosing end.
Once asics saturate any given ethash algo its over for gpus to compete.

It makes absolutely no sense as a gpu miner to support ethash anymore.

We need to switch to the next best asic resistant or better yet asic neutral algo.

Progpow algo is the closest to asic neutrality people came up with so, yes, it makes truly the most sense for gpu miners to support this algorithm.

It boggles my mind how short sighted you gpu miners are ... you guys actually shoot in your own foot and pretend it is ok supporting eg. ETHW

If the price holds, 2.5%-10% of the ethereum hashrate will move to ETHW, and creating the largest gpu minable coin in the world.

It won't be gpu mineable because of asics my friend ...

The shit storms nearing us. I have 7.5gh in eth mining and 2.5 gh in etc mining.

I am hoping EthW goes on exchanges I use and mining pools I use.

coinex
coinbase
binance.us

viabtc.com mining

I will move more from my eth mining this weekend.

This might would work if ETHW uses a new algorithm like eg. progpow but with ethash there is only room for asics.

ETHW was solely created by ethash asic mining farm / asic manufacturer who don't want their "business" taken away from them.

They recently did the same with Decred because Decred changed their distribution model from 60% / 30% / 10% to 10% / 80% / 10%
PoW / PoS / treasury.
The Decred project changed the distribution because they realized that their mining was very centralized due to an asic monopol.

In order for asic farm/manufacturer to continue their blake 256 machines (you could hardly every buy ones) they forked Decred (DCR) to Decred Next (DCRN).

While I truly support decentralized mining (best achieved with gpus) I am absolutely DISGUSTED by the ETHW or eg. DCRN project.

This isn't a new home for miners at all and sadly ETC hasn't realized that "issue".

I wish for a future for gpu miners (way higher decentralization than asics), so please don't fall for the ETHW or similar traps.

And Ethereum Classic does not plan to change the size of the dag file so that this coin can be mined by more miners.

The contrary will happen though because this network will be overrun by the current ETH ASICs.
Since asic distribution is very centralized so will be the mining of ETC. So it will be mined by less miners.

For GPUs (better decentralization) you can hope for progpow algorithms.
