Hi Sampey, I have a question regarding the interface for C.A.T.

It seems to me that c.a.t. cannot be navigated using only the keyboard; am I right?
I ask because I was thinking of automating some operations I do frequently on CAT via scripts, so I can do them easily without much input from my part. But it seems the mouse is needed.

It's been a LONG time already since miningsweden collapsed; it should be moved to the "collapsed ponzi" list.

I would consider miningsweden to be collapsed already. Payouts stopped a long time ago now.

Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread
by

Thanks for your input but that's way too vague. I was looking for first hand experience by users that have actually been invested in Hashnest for a long period of time. Numbers, charts, excel spreadsheets, screenshots: In short, your journey on Hashnest - that's what I was looking for. I'd love it if some of you would share their wisdom .. at least a little of it : )

Thanks!

hey lechatelier, sorry I don't have enough time to get charts and all that, but I can tell you my experience. I purchased more or less 1.5 TH of S5 shares since shortly after their launch (was it a year ago?), until the shutdown of S5 mining recently. I got ROI and a little more (around 20% profit) but that includes also profit from trading shares on the market.
As you probably know, hashnest deducts the cost of electricity and manteinance from your mining earnings, in dollars. So when the price of bitcoin goes up, the manteinance cost is a small fraction of the payout (as few BTC equals more USD), but when BTC goes down in price or difficulty spikes too much, your earnings get smaller. This happens until earnings are almost zero at the end of a miner's lifespan (when difficulty is too high), then hashnest offers you the choice to redeem the machine(s) physically (but who would like to pay for shipping of a heavy and noisy heater) or sometimes will offer you some kind of discount coupon instead if you prefer. Unless you somehow have free electricity and live close to china, I don't think shipping the miner is worth it.

You can always trade those shares representing hash power on their electronic market, but it can be hard to decide if you want to sell it for instant gains, or keep the hash to receive mining income (like stock "dividends"). To make those decisions, you should make your own calculations like "price per GH/s", how much more expensive or cheap it would be for you to just buy or sell btc, or buy a physical miner, etc, and also time needed for ROI in case you would prefer to just "buy and hold". To calculate ROI time, this link is useful: http://nextdifficulty.com/

It will show you the time for ROI at current difficulty, for the kind of shares you have.

I know it's weird, but I think this cloud mining isn't so good as an investment, but more as a way of forcing you to spend your BTC little by little, since you get it back in drops until ROI, lol.

Good luck.

Any fresh news about MiningSweden payments? Where we can find official informations about that or users complaints?

Yeah; on that news link above, the latest news are that Mining Sweden will cease mining operations at the time of bitcoin halving. If I get it correctly:
-Mining operations will stop at the BTC halving
-Until then, existing users will receive some payouts, but not twice a day as before (I'm guessing weekly or monthly?)
-Mining Sweden may keep on existing but without the "mining" aspect.

Miningsweden stopped paying more or less a week ago if I'm not mistaken.
Not saying it's proven to be fake yet (maybe they just have some problems) but I think it's important news for this thread.

They said they will have to write their payout scripts again and should fix it by next week.

Anyone have a list of what USB hubs these will run correct speeds on? Really want to get these little frustrating things working.
Mine run OK with an Orico 10 port metal hub. I also run a couple of gekkoscience compac on the same hub.

if I adjust the voltage or the clock speed it seems to go randomly sick. I'll buy one of theese HUB's and then t'll try again.
Does "Sick" mean to low power?

AFAIK "sick" only means that it has spent too much time without bfgminer detecting a share. It can be normal, if the pool is rejecting low difficulty shares (as the miner takes a long time to produce high difficulty shares). It will stop showing "sick" when the miner throws a share over the pool difficulty.

Some pools adjust difficulty and lower it down to your stick miner; others don't. Try just leaving the miner running for a while and the sick might go away when a share is submitted, then declared sick again if much time passes without a share.

another coin would be nice  I am on 3 exchanges just to do the coins here.  I think I am on 6 or 7 exchanges . Hopefully I do not need another exchange

If I may ask, do you use the exchanges as "wallets" to receive payouts from this pool, or is it necessary to have separate wallets (and software) for every coin?

I've been thinking about using the pool.

Thanks for the info, I will see of cranking back the clock speed will help.
When I had a similar problem as you, playing with different settings of clock speed and voltage ended up solving it.

I don't want to have IP detected over network.

Have you considered using 3G? That should solve your problem I think

Another improvement in my cooling shelf:

I've cut a 80mm opening in a 100mm PVC pipe and I use it as a fan duct:

I'll adjust/finalize it when I take averything apart when I replace the stock heatsinks with the new one I posted earlier.

i still have to find someone who will drill/thread them properly as I don't have the equipment to do it.
It looks like you're having lots of fun with those compacs zOU  Grin

Thanks for the info! Do you know if you have to be a permanent resident to legally receive an import? My friend there is only passing for a couple of months.

Note: I was thinking of just asking by PM but I think this info may be useful to someone in the future who has the same question

Import taxes for antminer S5 in australia?
by
Guruclef
on 03/03/2016, 05:32:25 UTC
Hello all. I wasn't sure where to ask this question:
I'm not from Australia, but have a friend there. So I wanted to know if it may be cheaper to import an antminer S5 there from China?
Actually I'm not thinking of buying one, but of maybe redeeming one from hashnest when it becomes unprofitable. I guess it will be seen as an import by customs anyway and I will have to pay an import tax.

If you know the answer or where to find it, it would be useful to make a decision. Thanks!
