Bitcoin is just like the offline currency or Fiat but the only difference is that it is digital currency or online. You can use Bitcoin to buy things or goods especially to those who are accepting it,  just like in Fiat it can be use as means of exchange. And this Bitcoin in the future will be use as a digital currency.

I really agree that bitcoin is better than cash especially today we live modern society and people are almost using technologies. I believe that bitcoin can make the society  into cashless society. THis digital currency is more convenient and it makes the transaction fast. You just need to be careful with the hackers. Governments are afraid of legalizing because they might afraid that it would dominate their currency and for there protectionism they not are not allowing it and some governments have banned it. Bitcoin also can be used for illegal activities and transactions that is why they are afraid of legalizing it. And it is very hard for them to regulate this kind of currency.

Both of them are good for profit, hold or trade. But its up to you what you should prefer. Both of them needs an attitude of being patience and it acquires also skills.
