I see that people support that altcoin suits better for day trading, and not for holding. I just don't get why.
It's more for gambling. Such a low liquidity is not something most professional traders are willing to deal with.

Re: If Bitcoin dies does altcoin die?

Not all of them, but more than 90%. The reason is that the vast majority of altcoins are a copy of Bitcoin, with a few modifications. And most of the time these modifications bring more insecurity and instability than benefits to their network.
I'm developing an altcoin that is based on social sharing. What foundational technologies are going to make it the most valuable? What makes an altcoin valuable? I'm wondering if it is just how much people hear about it? Thoughts?
If you mean coin with real value, and not inflated by hype and empty promises, you have to create something that people are going to use. And for that the coin has to bring features that will solve people's problems.
Lately, what I've seen is that users have been looking for something that brings anonymity and scalability. If you manage to innovate in that area, you greatly increase your chances to succeed.
You can pay with Bitcoin in several stores and even restaurants here in Germany. Are we the only one who have this?
wow That might be awesome. I think Europe is the leading in terms of Bitcoin acceptance. Besides Germany, I think Denmark and Netherlands are good examples of Bitcoin acceptance. Outside of Europe, we have Japan, with a wide variety of stores accepting it.

Re: So what's stopping china from banning bitcoin mining?
Hi I think just before a month we saw china banning ICOs and taking severe actions against bitcoin exchanges which led to the shut down of almost all the three big exchanges. We could clearly understand that chinese government is totally against bitcoin.China has the largest number of mining farms in the world.
But still china has not banned mining. So,what's actually stopping china from banning bitcoin mining totally there?
Kindly shed some light on this topic.
Maybe because that would not stop mining, but would transfer mining operations to the black market.
I also have a theory that they prefer to have these mining operations in their territory, so they have a chance to exert influence over Bitcoin in the future.

If I had bigger capital available, I would. I see Bitcoin as a great long term investment, but I don't think the timing is good for quick profits.

ICOs are a joke. What's the logic behind it?... giving millions to someone before he delivers the product, not even a prototype of it.

Re: Is it more wise to invest in Bitcoin or in Ethereum for the next 5 years?
I would say to split your investment, Bitcoin if you want a steady growth and Ethereum if you want a fast growth but risky. Bitcoin is the most accepted cryptocurrency as of right now, there is no sign of any cryptocurrency taking over Bitcoin anytime soon. Ethereum on the other hand is revolutionary blockchain technology which may be used for many of future use.
TLDR; Bitcoin = steady growth, less risky Ethereum = fast growth, more risky
It depends on the type of growth you're talking about. If you refer to the size of the blockchain, yeah, it's growing fast

Good tech and compound interest incentives were not enough to prevent this from happening. In fact there is much to be learned from it.
Maybe something in the distribution, as you said, or crypto is not yet mature enough to foster certain types of innovation.

When it comes to altcoins, I like innovation and fair distribution. With this regard I consider Byteball the best altcoin. That said, I put Bitcoin as number one, Byteball as number two, and I'm still looking for a number three.

What is up with the ETH hype? The coin is half of the market cap of Bitcoin, and their tech is not enough for what they are trying to do. I've seen reputable people saying that Ethereum is ten times worse than Bitcoin in terms of scalability. Even Sharding and PoS may not solve their problems.
About the list, I think Antshares. Anyway, you should add DeepOnion Coin, it will win a good value over this year.
Why OP did not include DeepONION which is the most popular new coin? It definitely needs to be on this list already worth 0.0001 BTC and rising each day! Also STOX is going to rise big this year for sure.
I suppose DeepOnion was only recently listed on exchanges. The list is a bit old... And why would you recommend Stox? People really need to add descriptions to their coins.

Re: Do You Think Bitcoin Will Replace Dollar Soon?
Do you think it will be true? Are you positive towards bitcoin's future status?
I'm not sure that bitcoin will replace Dollar Soon. the government will verify, analyze & discuss hardly with the parlement before take an important decision. cause it effects to the economy, politic of the country.
Such a decision would not come from governments, by the simple fact that this would be giving up too much power. If people want to change society, people need to mobilize themselves
People fall into the misconception that Bitcoin is very expensive. Maybe because the price of a whole Bitcoin is high for them, but that's the result of a misconception of the basic principles of economics. It does not matter if you only have a fraction of something, what really matters is whether this something is scarce or not.
Jaxx has some serious security issues, better use Exodus in that case.
Could you be more specific about it? Because I see to many people recommending Jaxx wallet for altcoins. Although it is something new, Exodus is also being recommended by users. But what's special about it?

I'm pretty sure Bitcoin will still be here. Quantum computers are something that already exists, and will be more present in the future. But quantum cryptography is something that also already exists, and it can be implemented in Bitcoin.

Re: Bitcoin Cash surge - reasons for the increase?
I guess more than $ 1000, I think and hope will be up to $ 3,000 following the BTC price, because the future of BTC BCH highly profitable.
that would be a freaking disaster for all crypto. a $3000 bcash would shit all over the idea of it being a secure store of value if any asshole can copy and paste a coin. no real people would go near it ever again.
what's up with the near 10% difference between bittrex and poloniex?
+1
Don't forget hodlers give this thing value. I'm not saying dump it now. But I'm saying probably dump it. Isn't it?
I agree, i dont understand why people keep hyping bitcoin cash, it is an useless coin, i dont get it. Why people wants it to go up? there is no logical reason for that. It will probably fall in the next days, as it happens always with every coin
Yeah, what happened to the days when tech was the driving force in these markets... There are probably many greedy people coming in. But in the long run, if something is not useful, it can't sustain itself
