Reading this and other stories in the past, I feel very fortunate that during the most active part of my mining "career", I only had one serious close-call incident. The psu which I got originally with BW-L21 miner was a bad quality one with shitty dc side wiring, and I woke in the middle of the night to my smoke detector alarm when the wiring failed.

Remember the basic rule. If something seems too good to be true,  then it probably is not true.

You are asking about altcoins, sinne with PC it makes no sense to mine btc. Btc mining nowadays is only carried out with ASICs.

I grabbed one of these from distributor which was listed at Canaan.io (Mineshop)!

I see this one as a very interesting continuation in 800-1000 W power area home miner. Previous very common one in these was Antminer R4, and a lot of time has passed after that.

I may even do a write-up for this,  which I haven't done in a long time.

Also found this info about Avalon 10 series.
After the 10 series it seems that they have stopped updating their public git at the Github.

Please take things like this with grain of salt, and very carefully.

Based on what I've seen here, doesn't give me reliable feeling yet.

I found few C19 -> Type F 3x2.5mm2 cable options.
They are a bit special and only mining operators use them.
For "regular" server guys, the 1.5mm2 cores are usually enough.

Sorry for a late reply, I'm not too frequently active here nowadays.
Can you post your Cgminer API log? And I mean the full log one (there was a tick box or something to choose less or more detailed log).

Choosing favorites from all generations and manufacturers and models which I've tried... Oof that is a tough question!

I'm gonna reply with my current gut feeling and say Antminer S2 and Avalon 841!

Is the switch device and ETH cable in ok condition?
Have you tried another device in place of the A1246 to see if same problem occurs?
