@bensam: When OCing memory, make sure you do so for P2 mode. I think afterburner will only do P0.

How do you do this or what do you use?

I haven't found anything about gigabyte specifically yet, so please report here if you decide to give it a try.  Wink

Do you have a reference design card or the triple fan windforce? I remember to have seen a youtube report for a reference design card where the guy drilled a hole into the fan and applied some oil there. Not sure if that's really necessary though.

I have two gigabyte windforce gtx 970 cards, but don't want to touch them as they run really well.

For the HD 7950s, I always remove the three screws before disassembling the fan (in contrast to the guide above). Found it easier to handle this way, and the fans sometimes sit really tightly. If you do it make sure 1) not to break the fan blades, 2) not to damage the fan power cable, and 3) not to injure yourself.

I am gonna try another oil today, as the mineral oil I used before did not yield optimal results at high fan speeds (still some very minor grinding noise, but I want it to be perfect). Got an oil from a friend which he uses for his bikes.

Oiling the fans should be the cheapest and fastest option, and will fix them in most cases.
oiling ? most of the fans are sealed...

Depends on which fans you have. For my Sapphire HD 7950 for example you can pull off the fan. Peeling the sticker won't help. Fortunately there is the option, as almost every single card had developed horrible rattling over time at least once, most probably due to the low quality lubricant Sapphire uses for their fans. I usually take them to my lab and pipet 2 µl of mineral oil into the hole (although there are certainly better and more suitable oils/greases for this).

Here's a small guide:

Hi just tried release49 for X11 and getting occasionally a few booooos due to low difficulty shares. Cards not overclocked.

Sapphire has most certainly by far the shittyest fans ever. I have to oil my fans on a regular basis, otherwise they start rattling as hell and spin slower so that in the worst case the cards may overheat. I believe Sapphire uses very cheap grease for their fans. Almost all of my cards had that problem at least once. However, once properly oiled, they work well again. Would recommend Gigabyte instead, no problems at all there.

Have been testing DRK mining at coinotron for a while now with release34, and the pool is underreporting hashrate. Haven't tested previous releases there in detail. Unfortunately, coinotron does not draw nice graphs AFAIK, but the hashrate reported is always an average of the last 60 minutes, so it should be quite accurate. I checked several time today and it was always reported between 14.7 and 15.2 MH, while it should be at around 17.5 MH according to the miner.

Just tried release34 for my GTX 970 @1500/7000. No change to previous releases at pools with vardiff.

However, mining at pool with low dificulty leads to hashspikes when shares are found quickly. So the hashrate is still at 8.5 MH, but occasionally spiking up to 10.9 MH, which leads to an average of about 8.8 MH. I guess this release is best for heavily overclocked GTX 980 cards mining at a pool with the lowest possible difficulty. Good luck with testing everyone.

Edit: Values for X11 algo

Release26 seems to be a tiny bit slower than 25 for me (GTX970, X11).

Tested release25 now, I think we're getting there! Hashrate is now recognized correctly as far as I can tell, fluctuates around the real hashrate as it should. Awesome job SP, here's the graph:

Tested Coinotron with release24. Unfortunately there are no graphs there, but logged in regularly and the hashrate was always between 14 and 15 MH, instead of the anticipated 16.7 MH. AFAIK Coinotron does not have vardiff, in contrast to coinmine, so I'm getting shares quite frequently there.

Hi there, just tested release24 and it started off well and pool reported good hashrate, but after a short while it dropped down again. Hash should be around 16.7 MH. Pool is still drk.coinmine.pl, just the lazout changed. Will test another pool for comparison soon.

Good job as always SP! Lyra2 hash is a bit better.

However, same issue as with x11: Pool does not report the full hashrate. I think this is a ccminer 1.5.x related problem. For the original ccminer-Lyra2RE, pools show the correct hashrate as it is displayed in the miner. Would you mind to include the Lyra2 improvements into djm34's ccminer-Lyra2RE release?

I have done some fixes in x11 , is it still underrepporting in release 21?

Lyra is currently only finding one solution and the throughput is big. I will add 2 solutions soon.

I am considering to change the fork to the DJM34 fork. Clean it and replace all the kernals.

1. Less crashes.
2. Fix the problem on some pools.

But will lack some features like the API etc..

Hi, hope you guys had a good Christmas! As promised earlier, I have tested X11 with release21, and the hashrate is still not fully recognized by (some?) pools. Here's the graph for 16h of mining.

Haven't tested x11 with release 21 yet. Am away over Christmas for a few days but will check that when I'm back.

Lyra2 on release 21 has still some very occasional hw.

Btw, has anyone already figured out how to overclock memory for gtx970 above 7000 mhz in P2 state? Could be eventually quite useful for Lyra2 mining, at least everyone overclocks memory and underclocks core on AMD cards.

New exe file to test. Compiled with compute 30,35,50,52

-faster lyra 12% (Most of the improvement done by Klaus_t)
-faster quark 10%
-fixed HW errors in x11
-fixed compute 3.0 cards.(untested.)

x11, x13, x15 a little bit faster. (Optimized Skein)

The 21th public beta(windows executable) is available here: (21-12-2014)

The sourcecode is available here:

committed, I changed the integer type for the target and forgot about it... sorry about that.
should work now

here the windows binaries with latest version: http://ge.tt/5zIW3972/v/0?c

It's faster 875 vs 1000 but I get a lot of rejects (Hash above traget)

could you try to add --difficulty-multiplier 2 (I used here a difficulty adjustment of 256).
However what is strange is that on the pool I tried (verter and supernova), I didn't see that at all.
share above target are not submitted (or are not counted as rejected)

Hm strange I have the same hash above target issue, and adding "--difficulty-multiplier" : "2" to the sgminer.conf file does not help for me. I am surely missing something here, but can't figure out what exactly...  Huh

Givemecoins can also be added although I left there due to connection probs, and also got only 66 coins even though I found 4 blocks (but that's eventually just bad luck)
