Re: Bitcoin Core 22.0 Released
by

Are there any plans in the core development to at least allow users to run the core software without having to download and process the entire blockchain?

This would be great and I would be happy to support this!

With the current regulations it turns more and more into digital gold. Hope the US will make more sensible tax laws to enable bitcoin us for purchases again.

Usually animals are quite efficient in converting food into kinetic energy. So it might actually work.

it's amazing how bitcoin has been uploaded lately:
0 $ -1000 $: 1789 days
1000 $ -2000 $: 1271 days
2000 $ -3000 $: 23 days
3000 $ -4000 $: 62 days
4000 $ -5000 $: 61 days
5000 $ -6000 $: 8 days
and still does not stop surprising us. It has been very marked the rise in the last month could be the result that it has become more popular and reliable for users. so it still has to climb

That is called benford's law:

Re: What do you see for the future of social media and its affect on mankind?
by

This video got me thinking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzLtHqr1qjA

There are an insane amount of hurdles for humanity to jump over if we are to ever explore the visible universe. Elon Musk is doing his best, maybe not in the most ethical of ways, to get us there. We need a cultural and political shift in order to solve our immediate issues which seems to be happening at a steady pace. However, there seems to be significant issues with misinformation disseminating through social media channels further dividing us as people. How do you envision the evolution of social media in preventing misinformation, "fake news", etc. from continuing to divide and separate us into echo chambers?

Another good and relevant movie is hypernormalization:

As long as the news come from multiple sources it should be fine. Just use some common sense.

No, the hard disk speed should not matter for synchronization of your client. Faster processor and more RAM would help.

Will bitcoin change the distribution of wealth in the world?

Does anyone have information whether bitcoin would distribute wealth more equally across people than the current wealth distribution?

Or would the distribution be even more unfair?

Why do the supporters of 2X want to risk there on Bitcoin with no replay protection.

Somewhere I feel this is a hoax of some sort.

You can take precautions to that not happening.
If you split your 1X and 2X coins onto 2 different(!) wallets/addresses you are fine.
No replay protection can only be exploited if those 1X and 2X coins are lying on the "same" address (to be exactly: on the same private/public key pair; since it can't be the same address when its on another network).
And as long (after the fork) you didn't send any coins, there is no Transaction which could be replayed on the other chain.

Are there any automatic tools around to split your coins. Or any guide?

Re: Bitcoin hits all-time high

Time to invest? Bitcoin tops the $5,000 mark

Well to honest i would say that YOU HAVE MISSED IT , and you should Never Ever try to chase your entry , as it is not a good idea to take positions right now at the resistance which is against the thumb rule of investing, Never buy near the resistance. So it is better if you enter at new dips or wait for a pullback in the trend and then enter your trade with strict stop loss. Now breaking to new highs, $5000 will act as your new support, while your next target would move to $5500 to $6000.

My expectation is that bitcoin will hover around 5k for a while. In the past it always crossed all the important values at least 3 or 5 times.
