Why this time? It's good to take risks with meme coins if you kno what you are doing but this time is not good every crypto movement looks so uncertain and as we know it meme coins can lose their values pretty faster than top altcoins in the market, be careful

ICO came and the hype was huge which results in big money making opportunity so was Defi, IEO, Meme coins, this is something that can never stop in crypto space, more new opportunities will be born and the old ones shall fade away unless they are really needy, more new ideas will be born

Is chia mining worth it at all? That's what I want to know 😂 the major problem with chia is the plotting part that requires high end components like CPU with higher cores and thread and also faster hard drive, these costs much and the reward is low compare to GPU mining

Re: Why continue mining in loss

If free electricity is available it's good to keep mining and hold the coins, when market turn greenish you will sell for higher price but make sure you mine the good coins

If there is "free" electricity, you're not mining at a loss...
But, however you look at it, i don't believe in the myth of "free" electricity. Somebody is paying for it, it's just not you (yet). Either your boss, your landlord, your school, your country,... is footing the bill. And if you're not carefull, the costs might end up back with you in the end: you might get fired, your rent might go up, your school might kick you out, your taxes might rise...

But back on topic: there are people who believe that mining while at a net loss is smart because they believe the price of the coin they're mining will rise in the future... This is completely wrong...

Let's make a very simple, fictional example between 2 guys:

On one side you have Bob, he's a miner who continues mining at a loss.
The coin he mines costs him $1000/coin in electricity to mine, but the current market value is only $500. In the course of a month, he mines 10 coins, so there's $10.000 out of his pocket and he has a coin value of $5000. In the next month, the coin value explodes to x10. He now has $50.000 in coin value, and he spent $10.000 to obtain these coins, so his net profit is $40.000.

On the other side, there's Alice. She's the smarter of the two.
When the mining became unprofitable, she turns her miner off. Instead of spending $10.000 in electricity, she just buys $10.000 worth of the coin on an exchange. Since the price is $500 per coin, she buys 20. She has the double amount of coins that Bob has!!!
In the next month, the coin value explodes to x10. She now has $100.000 in coin value, and she spent $10.000 to obtain these coins, so her net profit is $90.000.

In these scenario's, Alice's profit's were MORE than double of Bob's. So if mining becomes unprofitable, but you really believe in the coin you're mining, the smarter thing is to use the money you would have spent on electricity (and even mining gear if you don't expect mining to become profitable again) and buy coins directly.

There are 2 reasons i can think of to continue mining anyways:
  • You REALLY believe in the coin, and there's no market to buy these coins, or no liquidity...
  • You won't sell the mining gear anyways and you're heating your house with electricity anyways... So why not just run the mining gear and let it convert electricity into heat to make your house nice and warm. Do be carefull: it's not a good idear to buy mining equipment for this purpose!!! A "normal" spaceheater is much cheaper than mining gear, it's safer, it's not as loud.... So if you have to buy mining gear to mine at a loss for the sole purpose of replacing an electric stove, you might end up losing money...
You do have point, what I meant by free electricity is using wind power or solar energy since this is how I've been powering my rigs for over a year now and I've made back my ROI already, I don't believe there is free electricity from grid power too

Its a mediocre exchange just like p2pb2b exchange but it's safe to use, the only problem is most tokens and coins on such exchanges don't always have good liquidity and volume in fact I prefer pancake swap (Dex)

Its not worth mining anymore, years ago xmr is the best coin to mine with CPU until they change algorithm to randomx which changes everything, it's better to buy GPU and mine oh some are talking about raptoreum coin which is another CPU mineable coin you can check that out

Trading takes time to learn it even depend on your brain capacity to truly understand how trading works, it's better to engage in both trading and investing, I have a close friend who do this and use the trading skill to survive pay bills and others then still be able to buy few BTC every week now he is in a better state financially

Plan to hold something new, since meme coins are already popular it's too late to make huge money from them in future, whales and influencers are smart they will look for something that lacks hype and hype them up, have some patience I'm not building any portfolio for now till a year to next BTC halving

The early birds that decided to hold are the true winners in crypto space, with time a good altcoin will always grow so when planning to build a portfolio always find the new gem and buy them at good price mostly in ( bear market ) then wait patiently for a good season

Re: Anyone with 6500xt numbers?
by

on 21/01/2022, 06:47:25 UTC
Apparently it should be doing around 13-14MH/s at 28-30W ethash (ETC). I dont think it looks so bad the efficiency is very simillar to 6600 XT. Obvioously its not a beast but I can see it used as cheap, very lowpower second gpu in a gaming pc for example. Ofcourse only worth if price <= 200, which can be done atm
Maybe efficiency in gaming you mean? 6600XT performance in mining is way better than 6500 30MH isn't a joke and power consumption of 6600 deserves this exact hashrate, buying 6500 for mining is like buying 1050 for mining in 2022

Don't ever buy such cards they are worst for crypto mining, they can't mine a single PoW algorithm, the only reason to buy such card is for video editing or graphical design works

Hope you aren't using MSI afterburner? Sometimes this software will glitch and keep reapplying your old settings even if it crashes your PC, I suggest you uninstall the software you use for under clocking first

Someone predicted that doge coin will reach 11$ by 2025 i think it's a topic on this forum as well, here is my own opinion, Dogecoin have surge significantly thanks to Elon for that, also shiba have created so many millionaires too, if I have to judge by their utilities shiba inu wins here hands down but better investment for the future? I'd go with shiba inu cos this could easily be another doge coin for another day

Re: Is it just me thinking about this NFT craze this way?
by

NFT will have a negative impact on crypto in future because this use case is really not needed, it has nothing to do with better money or making payments and now billions of money are been spent on them, the most confusing ones are art NFTs just for collection purpose only, why spend money on them
