No new News?

Price crashing??
I don't see anything new around here. Yobit someone is selling for dirt cheap. We need to regroup and get back to some exchanges. It is my opinion that with everyone locking their coins we just dont seem to have enough trade volume to keep these exchanges happy. When we first got everything sorted out people were buying like crazy, now everyone's coins are locked up awaiting the 256 day interest payment. I think we need to find a way to encourage trading more, and also keep new interested party's coming in for profit. I watched us ride at 600 650 for a good long while, I watched as someone loaded with btc pushed the price lower and lower and lower until the floor fell out of the price. I sat here looking into the computer wondering if I should try to intervene. I was told not to, to let the free market take place. I dont think what I saw happen was free market. I also think the type of coin this is Long term hold goes against us when it comes to Volume and trading. I know most of you all know this I wanted to put it out there in hopes we could start to form a plan to overcome some of these obstacles. I would like to thank Presstab for being a great Developer. I challenge the rest of the community to come up with some ideas to fuel this fire. Fish

I don't see how everyone locking away their coin is causing the price to go down, on the contrary, there are less coins on the market.
The way I see it is there is simply lack of demand for the coin.
So I think the main way to get back on track is to get more people interested in the coin.

I don't have any ideas really but maybe some smarter ppl here do?

Does this idea mean stake % will no longer be by block age?

Yes wouldn't you love to have a coin which you can change all of the parameters on the fly with no need to hard fork and get everyone to update?? Sounds amazing to me, so I have started some preliminary development on it. Unfortunately it is a very very busy time of the year for me, so can only do limited work right now.

Unfortunately, today I'm in a hurry. But the idea is fantastic.

It would even be superlative if you could add, not only changes of parameters, but also
correction code and hotfix during operation, without need of manual intervention.

But I think this self modifying code is a kind of taboo. And with good reasons sometimes.

But now I am going too far forward.

Better a safe step at time. Wink

Yes first step will be really abusing the new system on testnet.

The remark that this coin is one for the Old boys is nonsense. The reason I got a solid chunk is because I traded aggressively once I read on bitcointalk that there was a talk about a take over. Something that everyone could read at that time. No inside information or whatsoever. I bought a large chunk as I like the community developer and coin.. If you like a certain coin you need to trade proactively rather than wait until others make a move and grab coins in front of your nose.

Same here.
I had mined some coins when it was still under original DEV but once I read about the take over I sold other alt coins I owned and went all in.
No inside info or anything of the sort.

I haven't had the greatest "luck" with staking either but I understand it's because I haven't played around with different block sizes enough Smiley

Anyway, I love this coin and it's community and hope more join in.

Is it possible to add the option of locking per staking bracket? it could be maybe with a drop down list with options ranging from unlimited to the current brackets - 256 days, 128 days etc
and of course once it reaches the max locked days it will automatically unlock and be ready for staking.

what do you think?

A kind of "lock until", as I understand it.

I seem to recall that of this it had spoken in the early stages
with PressTab, but maybe at that time was not a priority.

PS:
Hi!
I am another of those who write about very infrequently.  Cheesy

Definitely an awesome idea, and would be a cool feature to have. Shouldn't be too hard, just modify the coin selection code to only select coins of a certain maturity. I will look into this when I get back in town at the end of November!

That would be great!

Hi all,
Been really busy so didn't have to much time to comment but I have been keeping updated.

I had an idea about the coin lock feature.
Currently you can select what coins to lock but you need to manually select when to unlock them and if you have many locked coins it can be a full time job Wink

My pi is the 2nd gen, and it works for me.

If there are any issues I'd be happy to hear.

Does HedgeHog01's bin not work for the 2nd generation pi?? I always assumed it did.

I'll try to get Raspi version compiled in the next few days.

Thanks presstab for your great work!

New release is out!! v2.0.0.4
https://github.com/presstab/ratecoin/releases/tag/v2.0.0.4

Changelog:
coinlock RPC call - allows for the locking, unlocking, and viewing of locked coins via RPC.
MultiSend - allows you to set an address, or array of addresses, to automatically send a portion of your stake reward to after the coinstake transaction confirms.

I will see if I can get some builds for other systems added to the release page soon. Thanks friends!

guys any advise why im getting following error after a fresh compilation of daemon as per wikia instructions. though i havent downloaded bootstrap just synincg it from scratch also i had emptied entire .HyperStake folder except wallet.dat but same thing. im using raspberry pi

Code:
pi@raspberrypi ~/cryptos/HyperStake/src $ ./hyperstaked
HyperStake server starting
HyperStake: Error initializing database environment /home/pi/.HyperStake! To recover, BACKUP THAT DIRECTORY, then remove everything from it except for wallet.dat.
pi@raspberrypi ~/cryptos/HyperStake/src $

I had it numerous times, it has nothing to do with BerkeleyDB (libdb, which is used only for wallet.dat, blockchain is stored in internal binary format). It happens when filesystem on sd card gets corrupted (happened to me many times when downloading blockchain or just anytime, sometimes during system setup on fresh installation, sometimes after few months).

Reason could be unstable power source, overclocking, weared or faulty sd card.

I've recently abandoned sd card as storage (made it read-only) because it's not 24/7 reliable and moved raspbian to USB device (could be usb3.0 pendrive - require less power, or external hard drive). So far so good, no corrupted files.

Rule no 1 : Remember to make frequent backups of your coins' blockchains and wallet, so you don't have to resync from scratch if crash happens.

Well, on the same raspi the old wallet worked great and only the newly compiled one had issues so not sure SD-Card is to blame in my case at least...

could you be more specific, please

which part ?

i tried to compile headless client on raspberry pi, followed instruction as per wikia; but whenever i did run wallet i got above noted error msg. thn i emptied entire ./HyperStake folder, left wallet.dat, tried to sync with bootstrap but every time i got same error msg. so i quit for time being till weekend.

Hort suggested about flux connector engagement, about which i have no clue what it is!!!

i suggested to do something like what jc12345 did for paycon, one click install with the up-todate bootstrap. especially for raspberry pi users (to save long compilation time)

Sorry I don't have a raspi so I am not much help here. I do know that Hedgehog01 had this same error when he built the XRA wallet, but he sorted through it somehow. I will see if I can track down some details.

Indeed I had the same error on XRA.
Previous versions I compiled had run fine but when I tried the new version I got the same exact error.
I'm no expert (far from it) but I think the difference in my case was that between the successful attempt to the broken one, I had tried to compile other coins and installed other packages and I'm pretty sure that is the cause.

while I was trying to remove the other packages I corrupted my raspi system and ended up reinstalling the whole system from scratch and then compiled the XRA wallet and it worked great.
So to sum up, if you have been trying to compile other coins it may be the cause and you may need to remove/update some packages (but be careful Smiley)

Good luck.

Re: [XRA] RateCoin | PoS | Unique Generous Rewards | Low Supply Inflation

Hedgehog01

Summary

RateCoin (XRA) is designed for long term oriented minters. XRA uses Proof of Stake to secure its blockchain and is designed with long term sustainability as its primary focus. Stake rewards are generous enough to encourage holding and minting of the currency, but are low enough that inflation problems should not emerge. RateCoin gives incentive to long term holders to take coins away from exchanges and stake them long term, in theory this should create an upwards pressure on the exchange rate between XRA and BTC or other currencies.

XRA is also designed to scale long term. Small time intervals between blocks creates blockchain bloat and can lead to a nearly impossible chain to sync after a year or two of operation. Large blockchains take lots of resources such as disk space and memory. RateCoin is designed with a 3 minute block target, meaning that approximately 480 blocks are added to the chain per day, 175,200 per year. Compare this to coins that have a 30 second block time that add 2,880 blocks per day, 1,051,200 blocks per year. The problem is that when a node syncs it has to scan and store every block. It is fairly easy to download the blocks, for example getting them all in a bootstrap.dat file doesn't take too long, the problem is scanning all of the blocks which can take days for certain nodes if the chain is too large. A large chain can prevent an exchange from implementing the coin and can make users hesitant to run the coin. RateCoin is designed to avoid these problems and easily scale over a long period of time.

XRA's Reward System

High Rewards for Long Term Holders: XRA calculates stake rate based on the age of the input that is used in the stake transaction. The reward rate starts at 0.25% for any input that is less than one day old. If the input is over 1 day old the stake rate bumps up to 1%. For every doubling of days the stake rate moves up by 1.5 times (up to the top bracket of 25.6289% after 256 days).

Minimum rewards given to ensure the network remains competitive: If XRA only gave generous rewards to those that lock away their coins for long periods of time, the network difficulty would be very low and there would not be enough available outputs to stake to keep the blockchain moving. For this reason XRA gives a minimum reward of 100 XRA to any stake input no matter what the size. This means that if you are able to stake an input of 100 XRA, you will get a reward that doubles your input. On the other hand if your input is old and large enough it will well exceed the minimum reward and default to the normal age based rate brackets.

I added a new write up to the OP for anyone having a bit of trouble understanding the concept behind XRA.
  Very nice write up Presstab.

Yup!
Sounds good to me Smiley

An update on the new wallet progress:

I was able to fix a few bugs such as the lock/unlock not returning to the correct state after sending a tx, themes are fully functional, and I have now added the ability to lock/unlock your individual coins in coin control in bulk with the normal checkboxes so that we won't have to right click on each individual output and click lock/unlock.

Now I just need to wrap up a few more tweaks such as adding stakesplitthreshold, and the wallet build will be ready Smiley

Waiting for new wallet too. Who was in like me since the beginning? Smiley

Love the fact that a lot of the addresses on the top 100 list have been claimed. Almost as much as Hyperstake in such a short period. Goes to show how strong the support is for this coin and claimed address indicates long term holding and staking.

There is around 2.3M XRA left on the sell side on Bittrex, average decrease of ~350K daily. geee, I wonder what will happen when the supply goes bellow 1M  Wink

Claimed addresses account for ~33 million coins out of total of 75 million, and most of the claimed addresses are intending to hold long term and stake Smiley

@kenny

Stake Age = Min. 1 day
But my guess is that day is timed by blocks produced.
So it may take 10 'real' days before coins are ripe for staking.

Diff is at o.ooo24 (so in theory low weights should stake quick too)

Dust for anyone that posts an address.  Get this chain flowing.
Cheesy

But why are there no blocks being produced?

What we need is some DEV who will help fix the wallet and bring it to speed
