UPDATE 3/5/14:
One of the devs is in the hospital; work a bit slowed because of this. We are truly sorry for any delay of progress why we look out for him for a little while, but human priorities come first.

....What are the active nodes? - Probably the most important thing from any of this
This coin still has potential, I am okay with it being traded this low because it just means cheap coins haha.

Nodes in standard config

For those saying dead, we arent active 24/7 as we have normal jobs and university to attend to. We are around, we are working on getting exchanges and other services on board. We have not walked off with loads of bitcoin, everything minus bounties has been paid for by one of the team's small mining rig.

The coin has huge potential, we saw that when it launched, and we want to keep working on it and making it bigger to realize its true potential. Smiley

We are available at our contact email or by forum message whenever.

Launching a coin is difficult, no doubts about it.

No requests/votes for these exchanges: poloniex, cryptsy and mcxnow?

We love SHA-3 coins, we love Helix,
https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQQfOLx-GFDUnpIL8ATTGU8x-bRpb70yjt11uiO0RfAqAlExJqG

We have contacted cryptsy in hopes of getting it listed, no word on that yet.
Due to the nature of mxcnow it is unlikely we will see the addition of much anything there, even doge has taken a long time. That did not dissuade us from trying!
I'll send poloniex another email making a case for the coin, because we love sha3 and we love helix!

Anything the community can do to help is great!

For those that are saying it, we have NOT abandoned this coin!! We like SHA3 too much, and want to support what we think is a good name. We want to see sha3 progress as the healthier alternative for people that have to use rigs, or just like keeping it quiet and cool!
We will not give in. We will not give out. we will not give up!

With a coin based on PoW, the miners ARE important. Without happy plethora of miners, 51% attack occurs. Without the right crypto, there's also threat of the market crash from  ASICs.

Miners are also the people actively involved with the community, and buying/selling. What in the fuck are you smoking bro? Roll Eyes

Yes, of course, in your sense miners are important for EXISTENZ of coins, but the REAL VALUE of coins depends only on "normal" users and investors.
See on doge-community, who were not miners, but they had an idea, enthusiasm. the same with bitcoin/litecoin, it will be accepted overall because of distribution in real world for people.

The basis of a successful coin is the ideology!
If only the miners buy/sell, it leads to fail of coin. Many coins die just because the miner-community do not understand the importance to bring the coin into the real life!

One thing we might be able to do is connect more with the reddit community, but how do you break that barrier to entry is the hardest part of the endeavor.

I find helix is a nice coin. It just needs to come out to the "ordinary" mankind. It may be the only narrow area, but the own one, where the people use it.
Are there some ideas here?    Roll Eyes

From the technical side we'd try to assure the attractive distribution of the whole hashrate to be shown to the best advantage for the investors.
DwarfPool got some more than 50% hashrate, I cant exclude the existing users from my pool, but if it will depend on my pool, as soon as more miners come to helixcoin, I'll think about how to bound the new members on the technical level not to keep more than the permissible share.

We tried to keep that a fair distribution and what ended up happening was just another hash reduction. We will add more informative help on how to mine SHA3 to help get more people.

We would love to see more practical applications become available for people, and would love to assist people making them.

On a non-technical side, it would be advantageous for people to think about the state of coins. How many scrypt coins are their. And how many coins arent. In the future, perhaps the perception really should be a top three mentality. The top three of each algorythm are the coins that really matter in the long run. For miners, SHA3 is superior. For people investing, superior algos make sense as people move into them and increase difficulty.

We want the community to grow, value will follow, especially if we can keep adding exchange support and configs for those who just want to get in as an investment. Sha3 and Helix are better from the DNA level!

What the direction of apps are you thinking about?

Sorry if I'm wrong, but it seems to me, you change the definitions, miners are not "people". Miners do not deal with value of coin at all. They do not make the value of coin, but "normal" users do! People (not miners) also do not care what the cryptoalgorytmus based the coin on! no matter if there are sha, scrypt, keccak.. they are only interested in using of coin in real world.

That means, the sense of advancement of coin is to awake an interest of normal people but not miners.
For instance, to find a nishe interested in cryptocoin: online games, anime funs, porno etc..

With a coin based on PoW, the miners ARE important. Without happy plethora of miners, 51% attack occurs. Without the right crypto, there's also threat of the market crash from  ASICs.

Community is anybody who likes it, mines it, uses it, shares it, talks about it, anything!!! No confusion about that from us.
We need to grow all branches for a truly successful coin, and in its current state it seems somewhat hard for those who want to trade it to do so.
We are open to community thoughts and strongly encourage people to share ideas that hey think can help all of the people involved, which obviously includes miners!

i'd solomine if it weren't so complicated :|

jsmal said it right. Simply run your wallet and set your miner to -o 127.0.0.1:9504 easy peasy Smiley
Default user is helix, password coin

Best of luck Smiley

Even with increased CPU usage i have noted power savings and definitely lower noise because of less heat.
CPU use worthwhile trade to avoid the countless scrypt coins and save power+noise+heat.

That was an oversimplification, yes

Mind you, Sha3 is different from scrypt and i can confirm that the cpu usage is from the sha3 cgminer and not a wallet with setgenerate turned on.

I couldnt tell you exactly why sha3 uses cpu like it does, but there are no negative impacts observed by the dev team, so we quite like the algorithm

What I'm saying is that I get essentially 0% CPU on the sha-3 cgminer.   If you're seeing high CPU then something is wrong.  Smiley  Are you seeing this issue on Windows or Linux?

Seems exceedingly common on winderps. Dang amd drivers some of the time....

All the data movement shouldn't even be a blip on your CPU usage. I think I get about 0% to 0.7% CPU usage on cgminer on a low-end Celeron.

If you're getting high CPU usage then something is wrong. Make sure "gen=0" is in the helixcoin.conf file.  If you're on Linux make sure it's using the libOpenCL from the fglrx install and not the broken one from the AMD APP SDK (this might apply to Windows also, I have no idea). The broken SDK libopencl causes an irq storm.

That was an oversimplification, yes

any ideas how to disable cpu while mining with gpu in random helix pools. It seems to me that with every pool while mining, cpu pops to 100%, only dwarfpool used just gpu so far. Others used gpu+cpu, but cpu was not visually shown in cgminer

I have experienced similar high cpu usage. On an i5 with 2 r9 290s the cpu was pegged at 60%, and for 4 r9 290 the i5 100%.
The CPU is not directly being used by the miner, it is indirectly impacted by all of the data movement. Despite this, the overall power use is still less than scrypt.
Ive also found that you can use the miner like a pc when mining at full tilt, which is another benefit of sha3

Please can somebody tell me how to get my wallet syncing. Dunno wots going on here
The config file that should be in the same folder as your wallet needs to be moved to your appdata\roaming folder for Helixcoin. For some reason Maxcoin and Helixcoin both were done this way, requiring the manual moving of the file to that folder.

at some point today I intend to add more lines to the automatic configuration script so that it will be a non issue for users not that familiar with coins Smiley

Ps, seems that the OP post has broken ahref link (forgot to close it).
Cause all the info after halfway turns in to an empty link.
