Re: 22 European Nations Form New Blockchain Partnership
by

on 14/04/2018, 13:14:53 UTC
A group of 22 European nations has formed a new blockchain partnership aimed to exchange information on the technology.
The countries, including the U.K., France, Germany, Norway, Spain and the Netherlands, signed a declaration establishing the new group, dubbed the European Blockchain Partnership, according to a release from the European Commission, which led the effort.
The collaboration is aimed to avoid "fragmented approaches" to the technology by sharing technical and regulatory expertise among member states, as well as creating ways to promote blockchain applications across the EU-wide Digital Single Market.

JAPAN plans to become the Bitcoin capital of the world as the Asian country continues to welcome cryptocurrency investment

Last month Japanese cryptocurrency exchange Coincheck announced it would have to pay back more than £300m to customers after their system was hacked, affecting 260,000 customers.

However, unlike their neighbours China and South Korea who are clamping down on the use of online money, the risks have not deterred Japan from their mission to be the first country to widely use cryptocurrencies as legal tender.

Re: What's your biggest problem with Bitcoin
by
Hitesh Ohri
on 14/04/2018, 12:26:38 UTC
i think there is a problem which assumes bitcoin should be a widely adopted currency, used by the mainstream . This problem is large, but solving  is easy. Most people only need to know how to use it. All currencies are complicated, like dollars, but once you use them a few times it feels like second nature. People will be a bit awkward using bitcoin at first, but they will get the hang of it. Most people don't know how U.S. dollars work either, they just know they can spend them, how to spend them, and if they are lucky, how to make them.

Another big problem is that governments can't control bitcoin like fiat currency. They can't print it up to go fight wars whenever they want (could be a good argument for bitcoin bringing peace). This is a problem because it's made bitcoin even more volatile, made bitcoin out to be a house of cards that the government flick over with one finger. The government is the elephant in the room full of bitcoin.

Re: Criminality and Bitcoin
by

on 14/04/2018, 12:15:28 UTC
Bitcoin has become the currency of choice for cybercriminals. Its distinctive characteristics of decentralisation and pseudo-anonymity are also attractive to criminal actors in general, and yet Bitcoin has been assessed as representing only a low money laundering risk. In many respects, cryptocurrencies are still viewed as an unfamiliar, marginal phenomenon restricted to the purview of specialists.

As South Korea cracks down on bitcoin, countries including Singapore and Malaysia are backing the technology behind it to drive technological change in areas as far afield as electoral rolls and health care records. It seems party of bitcoin is over now.But as it is not sure that its price would not rise . It can come in healthy way.

Re: Why bitcoin is not supported in some countries?
by

Nine years since the birth of Bitcoin, central banks around the world are increasingly recognizing the potential upsides and downsides of digital currencies.
what to do, if anything, about the growth of the private cryptocurrencies that are grabbing more and more attention for a host of reasons: security concerns after a $500 million exchange hack in Japan, volatile price moves and in the case of Bitcoin, at least  their introduction on regulated derivatives exchanges. The second question is whether to issue official versions. So these types of reasons some countries do not support Bitcoin.

Re: End of road for Cryptocurrencies in INDIA?
by

on 07/04/2018, 16:35:29 UTC
The Central Bank (RBI) issued its third warning, reminding the investors of its earlier concerns.  the RBI said that the creation, trading or usage of Virtual currencies or VCs as a medium for payment are not authorised by any central bank or monetary authority. "No regulatory approvals, registration or authorisation is stated to have been obtained by the entities concerned for carrying on such activities," it added.
there are five points listed RBI those are:
1.The RBI says that virtual currency being in digital form are stored in digital-electronic media that are called electronic wallets. Therefore, they are prone to losses arising out of hacking, loss of password, compromise of access credentials, malware attack etc.
2.Payments by virtual currency take place on a peer-to-peer basis without an authorised central agency which regulates such payments.
3.There is no underlying or backing of any asset for virtual currency. As such, their value seems to be a matter of speculation.
4.Cryptocurrencies are being traded on exchange platforms set up in various jurisdictions whose legal status is also unclear.
5.It has been reported that usage of digital currencies are largely for illicit and illegal activities.

So these points show government and RBI are trying to make end of road for Cryptocurriencies.

but some countries like Japan promotes cryptocurrencies.

somewhere you can say that digital currency will replace paper currency like bill payment etc. but we can't 100% say that it will be replaced like in the case of routine household items, penny expenses etc..
