I have just gotten my faucet up and running again, using a different API (I was an Inputs.io victim). It's In Bitcoin We Trust in case anyone is interested. Feedback is welcome.

Not that it's a significant amount, but I thought I'd add my little story. I had an inputs account for my faucet, and had like 0.01 BTC stolen (which was like 3/4 of what was in there). I emailed the contact address, and was told it would get reimbursed. I thought this was strange since nothing was mentioned about how or why it happened, even though I asked. I assumed someone had hacked my faucet or something. After a few days, no reimbursement of course. I emailed again yesterday, and was told to "see the homepage", and saw the hacked notification. So was I the first or second wave of hacked accounts? Who knows.

Re: Website Preview: BITADS.NET. Now Pay-Per-Day!

Is it normal to receive the default "Your Ad Here" ad on every single placed ad space? I would absolutely love to use this, but there's no point if I'm not going to get a single ad. Is there some waiting period or something?

Ads are only shown if advertisers buy one for your site. If they don't, you will not be earning money.

It's not an ad network like Adsense; it's like BuySellAds (ie. the advertisers manually choose which sites to advertise on and how much they want to pay).

So is there any general rule for how long this might take for, say, a Bitcoin faucet? Other faucets with similar amounts of traffic have ads, so I assume it's something that a bit of patience can cure?

Okay, I figured it out. There is a "decode key" option on the Strongcoin website that decodes the key into a standard format. Armory is now scanning the blockchain to get the funds from this account. Thanks for the help!

Just tried to import into Blockchain.info and it did not recognize the key. So that won't work Sad

I found an error in the error-handling code, which causes that "Ok" button to do nothing when you enter invalid data.  So it should've notified you that the data was invalid, but it doesn't change the fact it was invalid!

I'm not familiar with the data format that Strongcoin produces.  Do you think you could give me a sample that doesn't have any money attached to it?  Then I can see what it's expecting.  But is it only a single private key?  Does strongcoin only use one address for your account?

The numbers that the paper backup give are "Private Key Encrypted", which looks like this:

R2DsdHSkY2/1ohess4WwA2DW5gxHtg+
gfjPNiWSpiPJdNS1TAWzS29sdcASfq5o
Sl1TH5SKRA4jsJ/dWRAzAnGgbHeQajVAR
fps8c2PYbH=

It also gives a checksum, which looks like this:

43543452c78b9c360f847f08dddd42cc

Other than that, it gives you your balance, public address, and password hint.

And I will try and import it into a blockchain account and see what I can do.

Importing Strongcoin backup into Armory

Some people might have heard about Stroncoin's security leak, which caused some people's Bitcoins to be stolen. When I discovered this, I went to take all of my Bitcoins out and transfer them to another address. To my surprise, I was not able to do so, since the website is having some sort of issue. I emailed the support email address, got a couple of replies which were simply questions, but have not been replied to since answering the questions. That was almost a week ago, so I am trying desperately to find a way to get my coins so I can stop having to deal with Strongcoin. Anyway, I have my Strongcoin paper backup, and am trying to use it using the Import/Sweep Private Keys function. I entered the private key into the box, selected "single key", and can only select "Import These Keys" since "Sweep" is greyed out. I hit OK, and nothing happens at all. The OK button looks like it's being pressed, but nothing else happens. Is there something I am doing wrong?

Alright thank you, I will try btcquick. I completely forgot about Paypal fees and was willing to foot the bill for the escrow fees (which is apparently only 1% for BTCrow

I am having no luck with BC Changer because people are slow. So, is anyone interesting in selling to me using Paypal? The Bitcoins would be put in escrow using BTCrow.

Hmmm for some reason it seems to only do this when I use the [Q]uit command, and not when I press the X button in the top right corner. Very strange, so I will continue to use the button method in order to prevent this from happening.

CGMiner giving BSOD!

CGMiner works fine for me up until I hit "Q" to quit. When that happens, I get the BSOD, the computer dumps the memory, and this is what I get when I log into Windows again:

Code:
Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
  OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48
  Locale ID: 1033

Additional information about the problem:
  BCCode: 3b
  BCP1: 00000000C0000094
  BCP2: FFFFF88005A751F9
  BCP3: FFFFF8800898C7D0
  BCP4: 0000000000000000
  OS Version: 6_1_7601
  Service Pack: 1_0
  Product: 256_1

Files that help describe the problem:

My system is as follows:

AMD A10-5800K 3.8GHz Quad-Core
ASRock FM2A75 Pro4 ATX FM2
Mushkin Blackline 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Sapphire Radeon HD 7750 1GB

I have been dabbling in overclocking my GPU. The stock is 800MHz/1125MHz, and I have it up to 900/1225 right now. Even if I reset my clocks to the default, it still does the error. On the blue dump screen, before it restarts, I can catch one line that has to do with "atikmdag.sys". For the record, the GPU temps do not exceed 55C even when put under almost 100% load for hours on end, so that's not the problem. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks for the info guys. I managed to figure out the basics of how to add accounts and whatnot. Something annoying, though, is that I cannot figure out how to get it to save my account info so I don't have to enter it every time. Is there a file I have to edit in order for this to be possible?

CGMiner noob help
by
Hitman10666
on 26/10/2012, 03:46:16 UTC
I just built myself a new computer, and want to mine with it. I used GUIMiner on my old computer, but that doesn't want to work for some reason (connection errors). So I tried out CGMiner and got it pretty much working so for using these instructions. Even though it's working, I have no idea what I did or what any of those steps meant. All I know is that I compiled the program from source code. I also have no idea how to use the program aside from entering the information for one of the pools I use. My question is, is there a guide somewhere for noobs who want to use CGMiner? I mean noob noobs that are very much not used to command line interfaces. Also, how do I make it so I can enter the information from other mining pools I am a member of? Is there a GUI or something that can be used in order to make CGMiner somewhat palatable for someone like me who comes from a very GUI computer experience? Thanks in advance
