Look at the 3 digit number on the top.  That tells you the ohms rating.  For example, the unbroken one in the photo has 204.  Thats 2-0-0000 ohms, so 200000, or 200K ohms.  Then just find a pot that is the same size to fit where the broken one is and solder it in.  Unfortunately, you'll need to know what it was adjusted to.  I can't help you with that, you'll need to find a schematic or something.  IF the broken one hasn't been accidentally changed from handling it, then you may be able to measure it with a DMM and adjust the new one to the same setting.

Hello and welcome.

Regarding your hope about wrapping your mind around the inner workings of the bitcoin, I often feel the same way about many technological things.  I think I've gradually come to a philosophy that anything that is large and complex enough to hold the attention of a great many people is probably too big for any one of those people to completely understand and master it.  You can spend many days and nights reading and working on it, just to feel ever more inadequate in your understanding.  Everybody has their own understanding, and somehow it all comes together and works, like magic.  It's the Bitcoin Magic.  It will consume you, and you will thank it.

Well anyways, good luck out there.

Nice to meet you.

I'm currently using a similar setup for mining LTC.  I have 2x 7970, using cgminer on win7.  I am also patiently waiting on  a Butterfly Labs miner that I pre-ordered.  When that comes in I'm thinking of maybe selling my gpus, mainly because of their power usage and heat.

I'm also interested in how you are mining on your tablet.  I had a heck of a time finding a cpu miner for my intel/windows 7 laptop and ran it only for a few days before I gave up on it.  I can't even remember what software I was using, I think it was guiminer with a manually configured miner, can't recall which one.

Is your tablet a Droid? If so, what kind of software are you using for it: mining, wallets, and whatnot?  I've thought about getting a droid phone so I can do some bitcoin stuff on the go.
