The weak hands selling need to calm down.

Evan is a human. He's either asleep, or working hard on the coin.

No other coin offers what Darkcoin does. No other coin is putting up a tangible anonymity system for you to use RIGHT NOW. Dark is the first, the best, and these growing pains are a good sign. It means this coin is going places.

In medicine we say that a crying baby is a happy baby. Because if a baby is crying that means it's able to breathe and it has enough energy to be angry.

Just because Darkcoin had a hiccup yesterday doesn't mean anything. It's like the crying baby, sure it's not pleasant at the moment but it's ALIVE AND WELL.

The new logo is making it very geeky and immature. I think we're too old for playing transformers. Aren't we ?

I guess this is what Lims called "modern design". You guys are cute. I'd be interested to know more about the creator esp age and background/situation. That guy have evident 3D skills but it looks so very much.. antisocial. Same goes for the majority of bitcointalk registered members. Typical coders and geeky people aren't so famous for their fashion sense and aethetics, nor necessarily communication experts. But this is really getting caricatural !

The identity choice is bad and I'm not hoping for an improvement from now. I hope Darkcoin anonymity feature will be enough to make it rocking on long term. But it's a risky bet.

Not meant to hurt just the sharp truth. As I've been always successful in my own ventures and tired of BS talking, I wish you guys personnal success. If you can work as much as you like to argue and pretend knowing things, I'm sure this will be easy for you.

Just my 2mil..
Good luck.

Piss off. You proclaimed your "last post" several pages back. Please save your incredible talent for some other venture.

Just putting this out there in light of Limlims stepping back:

My background is in psychological operations with the US Army, which is um. ..well marketing, in a certain sense.

If it would be useful, I'm willing to take over (or at least contribute to) what he was doing in the interim until we find a pro marketing firm/individual.

Just PM me if I can be of any assistance.

Chuck out some suggestions and proposals mate so we can mull them over. Don't worry about getting anything wrong, you can't hope to compete with me on that! Wink

Seriously the more ideas the better, preferably with some actual plan to implement them.

Off the top of my head:

  • Have this thread locked to all but eduffield and internetape, because it's basically a goatfuck at this point.
  • Move all conversation to darkcointalk forums.
  • Stop putting every little thing to a community vote.  Consider community input carefully, but lead.
  • Recruit "inner circle" to float ideas past before they're presented to the community.  Off the cuff comments or ideas from devs or anyone even loosely associated with the devs MUST be carefully vetted before going public from here on out.
  • Contain official discussion pertaining "marketing and branding" either to a closed or heavily moderated thread on darkcointalk.  Stop discussing these things in public until they're better refined and thought out.  Too many cooks in the kitchen - good intentions all, but very few who know what they're talking about.
  • Contain official discussion pertaining to major changes to the coin or anything tertiary (eg foundation, bounties) to a closed thread on darkcointalk.  Present ideas to the community only after thorough vetting.  Stop discussing these things in public until they're better refined and thought out.
  • Designate or recruit specific individuals for specific tasks - stop crowd sourcing.  Nice idea in principle, chaos in practice.
  • Three different types of information campaigning: white (we claim responsibility), gray (responsibility is ambiguous), black (make it appear as though someone else is responsible).  Each of these can be put to extensive use for this coin.  Leave it to your imagination, but this is one reason marketing must be a closed discussion.
  • Identify target audiences, tailor marketing for each, create products, vet, disseminate.
  • Stop kidding yourselves about how this coin will be used.  Without condoning or condemning, engage all potential target audiences.  Tailor marketing accordingly.
  • Stop entertaining new ideas in regards to logos and branding.  The decision has been made.  Own it.  Get it off the goddamn table as the foremost discussion topic of discussion.

I completely agree!

I just want to say that I think the arguing going on in this thread is very unprofessional and is hurting the coin. People interested in Darkcoin come to this thread first, and hop to the last page to see what the scoop is. What they're greeted with is chaos, which in turn gives an uneasy feeling about the coin and turns them away. God knows, when I come on this thread myself and read all the B.S. in the last few pages it makes me question whether i'm doing the right thing by holding my DRK.

Please use the dedicated darkcoin talk forums. Please use the proper sections/threads within those forums. Polluting this thread with arguments is not helping our cause.

Huh The discussion in the last pages about the foundation is very interesting.
Unlike you I think that it is healthy, the coin is alive and encourages people to share their ideas (some good and some bad).

I'm largely referring to all the bickering about the branding.

I like how Darkcoin's chart pretty much resembles Bitcoin's chart, meaning there are no pumps and shocks particular to DRK. Looking forward to the days DRK grows higher than BTC's fluctuations.

In the future when Darkcoin is more established, it would be great to see a company like Coinbase springing up which only offers DARK>Fiat conversion. Then we could really move beyond BTC fluctuations.

This already exists. Vault of Satoshi in Canada is adding (or already has) DRK -> USD and Canadian.

Hello, Community,  I almost do not post in this thread but have been following DRK since late January. I am an adult, an investor and have so far invested around 30K USD into DRK. I love the product and if it is to be succesfull it will be based on its merits of offering value to its users, being Darksend and anonymity the most attractive feature and I hope there are more added in the future.

I am investing in the integrity of the DEV team, in the added value proposition of Darksend and in future additions like messaging, etc. The value of the coin is not in giving it away to miners as they see fit, the value is in offering benefits that bitcoin does not already offer to the intended end users, people like me, who don't mine.  This is in my opinion the only altcoin that is offering something BTC does not to regular users.  Other coins like Vert offer something to miners but it does nothing for me as an end user that BTC doesnt already do. So please DEV team, forget about complaining teenagers, show some respect for the people backing up this project and lets focus on adding features and benefits.

I am trying to mine this coin ever since sph-sgminer came out with X11 OpenCL GPU mining support. And it proved to be really difficult to do it effectively and reasonably. But I think I am on track now, only small tweaks might come from here.

And now I just realized that my 3x290 + 1x290X rig (used to be one more 290X but that one recently burned out Tongue) takes out 1/15 of the whole network speed. Cheesy
I guess I could easily mine it directly without the help of a pool (may be I actually will, just because that feels better for me for some reason I can't shape into words). And now I miss my 5. card even more.

Scrypt ASIC is on our doorsteps and Litecoin doesn't wish to adapt (follows BTC which I think is very ironic after it's main feature was to get rid of the BTC ASIC, but now it welcomes it's own ASIC...).
Vertcoin tried but also failed in my eyes (their N factor scaling it still too light, it won't take too much time and effort until a scrypt ASIC will be able to mine that as well).

And even if it will prove to be comparably easy to create an ASIC for X11, there is still something about DarkCoin which I think will make it unique between these third generation (post- SHA2 and Scrypt(N)) coins. Not just DarkSend, or DGW, but the whole feeling around it. Cool

I think this could easily be the next most popular coin in the BTC, LTC/DOGE, DRK/?, VTC/? line in less than a year. So, I think this coin will be the first after BTC which I won't immediately exchange for BTC or EUR but keep (most of it) on a paper wallet.

So, if you are on auto-sell, don't worry about my 1/15 claim of the net speed just now.

So then my 2x290x rig must make up 1/30 of the whole network speed right?

Lawl. Nub.

So I have a question for the community here about X11 mining on Darkcoin:

I'm mining with two sapphire R9 290x Tri-X cards. I run SGminer 4.1.0 and use a .bat file to start it and CGwatcher to keep things going.

Usually I set my --gpu-threads value to "2,2" but recently I tried setting it as high as "10,10". When I do this then in SGminer I see my hashrate go up to about 3.5 to 3.7 MH/s per card (from my usual of 2.7). This is awesome, however I start getting boatloads of stale shares. On the dashboard on my pool (lotterymining or coinmine, either one) I see a super low hashrate of like 1.2 to 2.0 MH/s, when it should be up near 7.0 MH/s. Does anyone know why I start getting all these stale shares when I put the threads up?

Bump--anyone?

No, this coin has long-term potential.

Well in did it has! But this might be very hard to keep it on the right tracks!

I hope nothing bad will happen to it!

What are you talking about?

Im finding now that if I have the threads up at 10,10 or even 8,8 on my pair of R9 290x I get a ton of stale shares. Anyone else having this?
