I think I'm ok now with this.  It is loading much faster now than it used to.  I may have been trying on some bad days for the exchange.

Thanks to all of you for your help and advice.

Ok, I found that Chrome will work if I leave it long enough to load the page.  Some times this is instant, some times it takes several minutes.
Everything seems to work after this time.

However, the chart for EMV looks ............different  (as soon as I work out how to insert an img, Ill show you)  instead of candles like other charts, it show dots!

Any ideas whats happening?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, I can't find an 'exchange' thread anywhere.

I am thinking about buying a coin which trades on Etherdelta.  But, I can't get the platform to work properly.  It's almost like it's dead........not doing anything.
Is this a common thing with Etherdelta?  Can I be doing something wrong?
I have tried with IE and Chrome (Chrome is better but still completely unusable.

Thanks in advance.

1-Transfer fiat from bank to Coinbase/GDAX.  Once there - buy LTC or Ether on GDAX with limit order (it is free).
2-Transfer funds to an exchange of your choice that has the alt-coin you want.  I use Kucoin, Binance, and Bittrex.
3- HODL until you have met the conditions you set at the outstart to sell (ie 2x, 10x, moonshot, whatever)
4- Trade back into Ether or LTC and transfer back to GDAX and do the reverse of step 1.

Alterative step 4 - use one of the vendors that accepts crypto and spend Eth or BTC.

Cheers pal, very helpful.

The buying process

Hi guys.  I have received a lot of help so far, and I'm just starting to understand different parts of the process.
It would be really useful if someone could describe the process as a whole.
So from me having my £100 (for example) in my high street bank, buying some coins (alt coins), selling them again & transferring the money back into my high street bank.

It would be really useful in a step by step guide eg:-

1.      Buy BTC from places such as xxxxxxxxx or xxxxxxxxxx
2.      Join an exchange such as xxxxxxxxx or xxxxxxxxx
3.
4.
5.
.
.
.
.
.
.
15.    Sell coins and transfer money back to high street bank using  xxxxxxxx or xxxxxxx

Any help is much appreciated.

Can you buy crypto, and sell it 5 minutes or so later?
Is there a problem with the time it takes to show in your wallet after buying?

Thanks

Great stuff guys.
Thanks for all the advice.  Particularly  '..............how to keep your moneys value, when the price drops........', sounds like a good concept.  I will endeavour to find some info on that.

Welcome to the forum @Hopelesser

You don't have to download "their wallet" I have never seen an exchange website having their own wallet and to be honest I surely wouldn't trust the whole website.

1) You have to download your own wallet, such as "Electrum"
2) Then you go to the website and buy some bitcoins or any other altcoins, as you wich
3) Then you move the coins from the exchange to your wallet

If this is the path you want to follow, consider the transactions fees.

Thanks for the quick response.

I have looked at some exchanges but, it looks like they want you to pay in Bitcoin (or some other crypto currency), I want to pay in GBP.
I will take a look at the 'Wallet' section of the forum.

Is it just this simple?

Hi guys,

First post, so thanks to everyone who has provided help/info on here.

I want to buy some crypto currency (using GBP), and keep it until I think it's the right time to sell it.  I don't want to mine, buy or sell physical items, swap one crypto currency for another etc.

Is it just as simple as going to the website for the currency I wish to buy, downloading their wallet..........and buying some coins?  Then selling (using the same wallet) when I want to?

Thanks in advance.
