The newer BIOS supports a new RAM type. Some cards that came with the new BIOS will not work with the old BIOS; vice-versa also seems likely, although I have not observed this myself.
Is the RAM still Hynix?

What makes you think its the fans? Is there a sound from them? You may try to replace thermal paste. If the fans are failing, replace them with 2 usual 80mm fans.
No they sound normal, just the cooling degradation. Does the paste fail?

Sapphire 7970 11197-03-40G. I think that I have a fan failing on this card & I wonder if any of you found a way to replace these fans. I noticed some oil on the pcb. Would that be from the fan motor? It no longer cools as effectively as it did. Thank you.

13.9 worked well for hashing. Win 7 Pro 64. 7970 Sapphire.
I want to try this on my ivy bridge 3770 integrated gpu and mine with two 7970 cards. I read that the 7000 series cards don't require dummy plugs. There should be no software needed to run integrated graphs under Win7, right?
No cards need dummy plugs. It's bollocks, and has been for nearly 2 years. People who even think dummy plugs are the dummies.
As I said months ago in this thread that I'm running a pair of 7950 for mining and the HD4000 video out of my i3-3225. Set the BIOS to assign priority to the Intel video, boot in to Windows, install the Intel drivers, then the ATI drivers, job done.
Tested with three different motherboards (Asus P8B-WS C206 chipset, MSI B75IA-E33 B75 chipset, Asus P8H77-I H77 chipset) and three different CPU (G620, i3-2100, i3-3225).
Thank you!!

Re: Setting up GPU mining with cgminer on Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS
Over on IRC, cgminer author Con Kolivas himself (!) kindly suggested using AMD SDK version 2.7 and the AMD Catalyst Driver version 12.8. Both can be found on the AMD downloads area. This worked. Following the cgminer "README" is essential.
I experienced two wrinkles.
1. Installing AMD's driver required first uninstalling the version of fglrx from the Ubuntu repositories (sudo aptitude purge fglrx, sudo service gdm restart [or just reboot], sudo rmmod fglrx).
2. The script "Install-AMD-APP.sh" supplied by AMD in their package didn't seem to do everything that was actually required. I followed the instructions in the cgminer README describing how to install SDK version 2.4, but changing "2.4" to "2.7". After this step, it was possible to compile and run cgminer.
Thank you for this. I used your advice to get my 7970 recognized but I get an error trying to start cgminer 3.3.1. The error is cgminer command not found. Do I need to reinstall cgminer?

Re: Walkthrough: Raspberry Pi/Block Erupter mining rig setup with autostart and vnc
hot plugging works perfect in 3.3.1 and you don't need -S anymore, also I'm getting a bunch less hardware errors. And was easy to get it to boot up and run at init without having to check for ttyUSB's. I'm sure there must be other improvements with keeping up with the latest versions.
Excellent. Is there a guide for this setup? Many thanks!
