Where is TradeHill ?
by
Houdini
on 21/03/2012, 22:21:31 UTC
I had some money left over on my TradeHill account when the latest series of disasters struck (first they announced they were stopping trade and returning everyone's money, then they announced on the blog that the site was down for a short while due to some server attack or something, then I read they lost ownership of the domain of the new site they said they were going to open - bitcoin.com or something like that). Anyway I've been trying to get that money out, but the site is still down, I've sent them messages but still have no response (it's been about a week from the first one I think), and no news lately it seems.
The blog has had no updates since 06.03., at the beginning of this month Jered from TH claimed the money would be refunded using e-mail and wire transfers very soon but hasn't mentioned this since 11.03., his last post was on 14.03. and his last activity on 19.03.
So if ANYONE reading this has ANY NEW INFORMATION please share, and if you read this Jered please say something, at least an estimate on when we can have our money back, if it's not gone into the wind, because I NEED THAT MONEY !  Cry

Has anyone here managed to get any money out of Tradehill lately ? Are they still in business at all or have they gone bankrupt ?
I still have money in Tradehill I want to get out, but now I see their site isn't working, and they haven't posted on this forum in two weeks (and they used to regularly), and it seems most people have already left this forum as well as the bitcoin world (which leads to exchanges shutting down due to lack of traffic volume).
I'm going to send them a message now, but don't expect a reply quickly, so please someone if you have any info on the status of Tradehill tell me now, is there a way for me to still get my money out ?

right for the night anyway Smiley
Yeah but I doubt we've reached midterm bottom yet... But who can tell really with things this crazy...
All I know is I could have made 50% on my investment in the last 3 days had I known exactly when these 2 big growths were going to occure (not even counting the several ultra-short spikes !) and instead I lost 12% !
I wish I had a bitcoin market chart from the year 2012. !  Sad

The price just spiked from 6.5 to 9.5 on TH and back down to 7.5 almost instantly ! And to think I sold at 8, damn it ! Someone could really have made a killing, buying at 6.5 and selling at 9.5 ! Only the spike was too fast for non-bots (humans) !

No kidding.  If anyone really things that any business is ever going to adopt bitcoins as a payment method or that regular people will start using it, they are delusional.  Every couple of weeks you hear about hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of bitcoins being stolen with absolutely no recourse for the victims.  Yep, that sounds like something that businesses and regular people want to get involved with.
+1 on everything, just change weeks to days. Seriously, how many in 50 days ? Not even counting the numerous small frauds on this forum alone...
Boy, I wish I was a genius hacker, it seems it's a really profitable profession these days. Though I despise stealing from the poor, and that's what most hackers do since the rich are too well protected (try hacking into the account database of a multi-billion-dollar bank !).

So they aren't crooks, instead they got hacked. This is not really great news.
How many major robberies have there been in the bitcoin world in the last two months, I've lost count ?

Maybe I got that sentence the wrong way around... Anyway the guy who sold 30k of btc is not an idiot, he's either a genius or very lucky to have amassed so much (I wish I had 30k BTC !). Only he should have sold at 30$, not at 7$.

If you know where to get a 20% interest rate on a $1000 deposit please tell us.
Simple, find someone really desperate and loan 1000$ to them. Then a little later get 2000$ back from them. If they aren't inclined to pay up, incourage them by breaking their legs. If they don't have any money sell their furniture, their car, their daughter, or their organs. There's always some way to collect the debt. Just don't let the law find out.

London Bridge is falling down (and other things too)
by

on 06/08/2011, 23:56:35 UTC
London Bridge is broken down,
Falling down, falling down.
London Bridge is falling down,
My fair lady.

Build it up with wood and clay,
Wood and clay, wood and clay,
Build it up with wood and clay,
My fair lady.

Wood and clay will wash away,
Wash away, wash away,
Wood and clay will wash away,
My fair lady.

Build it up with bricks and mortar,
Bricks and mortar, bricks and mortar,
Build it up with bricks and mortar,
My fair lady.

Bricks and mortar will not stay,
Will not stay, will not stay,
Bricks and mortar will not stay,
My fair lady.

Build it up with iron and steel,
Iron and steel, iron and steel,
Build it up with iron and steel,
My fair lady.

Iron and steel will bend and bow,
Bend and bow, bend and bow,
Iron and steel will bend and bow,
My fair lady.

Build it up with silver and gold,
Silver and gold, silver and gold,
Build it up with silver and gold,
My fair lady.

Silver and gold will be stolen away,
Stolen away, stolen away,
Silver and gold will be stolen away,
My fair lady.

Set a man to watch all night,
Watch all night, watch all night,
Set a man to watch all night,
My fair lady.

Suppose the man should fall asleep,
Fall asleep, fall asleep,
Suppose the man should fall asleep?
My fair lady.

Give him a pipe to smoke all night,
Smoke all night, smoke all night,
Give him a pipe to smoke all night,
My fair lady.

From 14$ to 6$ (and still falling) in a week. If this were stocks or real money people would be throwing themselves out of the window right now.
I've lost some money in the fall (no money invested right now), a pretty sum that will be missed, but I must say I'm kind of having fun right now watching the graph go down and all the panic here... Morbid fascination you might call it, like people watching zombies in horror movies ripping people's guts out...  Grin

Re: Newbie Trading Basics 101
by
Houdini
on 04/08/2011, 04:40:54 UTC
If you want to manipulate the market you throw down a huge amount of Bitcoins on the Ask side so you literally flood the market with coins thus making an "ask wall". This will (in theory) drive the prices down so that you can then buy-in artificially cheaper and reward yourself on the way back up when people follow.
Aha...
Why don't you also mention the reverse possibility of people throwing down a huge amount of bitcoins on the bid side to drive the prices up so they can sell at a high price ?
Actually why do all your post seem to be trying to rise the price of bitcoins ? And masking that as a "newbie helper" ! A bull in sheep's clothing !

P.S.
All you people thanking Flip for the advice bear (no pun intended) in mind he has his personal interests in manipulating other people's opinion, just like 99% other people here. Belief makes prices, not reason, and who controls belief controls prices.

Just watch it go right back down... Your wishfull (and greedy) thinking can't help the fact this will probably settle around 10$ for the next few days (until it goes lower probably). I could be wrong though, but we'll see.
I mean, your milking the cow is really becoming boring. You and Edward50 post one identical post after another, he just tries to convince everyone btc will fall and you try to convince everyone btc will rise...

Re: damn... just sold all my btc for 8.7 and now it's 9.5
by

I don't think the miners will ever sell for a loss you are crazy. Most miners are barley breaking even at $8...
Not everyone is a miner, and everyone including miners will sell if they think they're not going to be able to get anything for them later.
And you are obviously a self-promoting miner who is trying to manipulate public opinion to suit his own interests, just like many others in this thread are trying to manipulate public opinion to suit their own interests (especially that Edward50 or whatever guy whos EVERY post is about bitcoins falling !)...
And if you want to help miners, you can just quit the business ! The less miners there are, the lower the difficulty and the more they earn. So if you're such a self-sacrificing miner-crusader, go jump off a cliff for the good of other miners !  Cheesy  Grin

I've stopped mining at $15. At that price and difficulty I can only make $3 after electricity costs. That's with almost 1 GH/s, too.
Electricity costs now don't matter if you believe bitcoins will be a lot more valuable in the future.

Now what would happen if we all just held the fort down, and instead of exchanging our Bitcoins for dollars or euros , we spend them within our growing community https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Trade,
Selling BTC for dollars or buying goods with them is the same thing when it comes to the effect on the bitcoin price, because all traders immediately sell the BTC they get. So you'll crash the price in one way instead of another.

Your up now  Grin! This will be one epic rally folks.
Nope, I'm thinking it will hover around 10$ for a few days. Even then the longterm bottom may not yet be reached. It may drop to 5$ before starting another longterm rise.
