Well, it finally happened. My daily payout is officially lower than my electricity costs (at $0.35 kWh). I understand the variance, the market slump, but ... I'll give it another week. If the trend continues this will be power-off for me. Pity, it's been a lot of fun.

Bit the bullet, jumped to Wafflepool. MC's 8-9% reject rate is a bit higher than I'd like to see, perhaps my slower cards are not suited for MC's fast coin-switch setup. Didn't bother me when direct litecoin mining was the only alternative, now I can choose between several multipools, so ... Same reason I didn't go to clevermining, higher profits on paper will be lower when you take into account the reject rate, which is high there as well (or so I heard). After half a day waffle shows 1-2% reject rate, which is nice. We'll see, might come back if waffle underperforms.

Good luck to those who'll stick around Smiley

Has anyone had any luck with BAMT and wireless USB? I got the Ralink drivers install properly for the Tenda units I have but keeps switching off as if USB ports lose power. Going back to UBUNTU but hate the hassle there too.

I have BAMT 1.3 running with EDIMAX EW‑7811Un. I managed to install it under BAMT 1.2 - with too much hassle I must say. When I upgraded to BAMT 1.3 I had wicd installed (and network manager deinstalled) following some advice from this thread and it was much better experience. No disconnects so far.

SMOS 1.3 is not very good for the older 7950's. You're better off with SMOS 1.0 with the older CGMiner 3.2.1.  SMOS 1.3 works better for the newer R9 series cards.  In fact a lot of the newer updates like Kalroth's CGMiner fork and SGMiner tend to like the newer R9 280 and 290 cards.  I'd stick with the ancient but working CGMiner versions for the 7950's.

I've got 4 MSI 7950's running between 680 and 710 on SMOS 1.0 with CGminer 3.2.1 using the undervolted .962 bios and Lantis' scrypt bin files:

1. what is SMOS?
2. how are your GPUs @ 40-50C?? how cold is it in that room? lol.

SMOS is a fork of the Scrypt version of BAMT (Mining linux distribution).

This rig is in a dedicated Mining Room I put together in my detached Garage.  I'm in the NY Metro area, so it's pretty cold lately.

Video of the rig(s) here:

jedimstr,

Just a suggestion - you don't need to run your fans at 85% when your GPU temps are around 35C.

Have payments occurred today yet?

Nope but balance is going up. It is 239 right now.

I've already gotten my payment. Bulk of the unexchanged didn't change though. But that means tomorrow payout should look good right?

Got mine too. Weird, none of the reports reflect the transfer yet.

Shaping up to be the best payout for me so far, ~0.02BTC/Mhs or so, despite higher than usual reject rate. Higher rejects are regrettable, especially on a good day like today, not sure if there is anything more I can do about it on my side.

Ah, I see why. The unexchanged not only being exchanged as usual by EOD, but their level will hit all-time low as a result, almost the entire balance is being converted.

Unusually high rejects for me too. It's normally around 3-4%, today it's closer to 6-8%. No changes on my side.

Great payout though.

With the pool difficulty at 1024, this should also lower the bandwidth required on the user side as well correct?  Most likely setting up a rig "farm" on a farm, and the best internet they can get is 3Mbs.  How many mining rigs might this support?

Stratum bandwidth usage is pretty low to begin with. Submitting work less often lowers that number even more, but it hardly matters at this point (I saw someone mentioned 1kbps per rig). You can easily calculate how much traffic goes through your rig with and without cgminer running and get your own results. So yes, for a single rig probably even a dial-up connection will suffice, for a multi-rig setup - a DSL line.

I do have failover -

Primary: useast.middlecoin.com:3333
Secondary: MIddlecoin.com:3333

Which is why I am asking?

I am pretty sure your cgminer crashed/froze. Perhaps when you get home you'll see what's wrong. I have failover set up and it is been working today.

...skipped

Use middlecoin.com:3333 as a failover.

"pools" : [
        {
                "url" : "stratum+tcp://useast.middlecoin.com:3333",
                "user" : "xxx",
                "pass" : "xxx"
        },
        {
                "url" : "stratum+tcp://middlecoin.com:3333",
                "user" : "xxx",
                "pass" : "xxx"
        }
]
.....
"failover-only" : true,
.....

If your cgminer completely freezes and is unable to fail over I would suggest looking into CGWatcher (if you are on Windows). I had it installed and set it up to restart cgminer after 30 minutes of no submitted shares.

Good luck.

Thank you for the response!  Is that what I type into my bat file?  I guess I just have not seen commands like that when looking into setting up my bat file.  In that case would it be wise to add a 3rd server there like west?  Thanks again for your help - eventually will have quite a few rigs running with a friend and want to make sure they will require as little maintenance as possible to save labor time.

Here is the command-line syntax, just add it at the end of the command :

--failover-only -o stratum+tcp://middlecoin.com:3333 -u YOUR_BTC_ADDRESS -p YOUR_PASSWORD

replace YOUR_BTC_ADDRESS and YOUR_PASSWORD with your values and you are good to go.

Question - I have had 4 different computers connected to this pool for a couple weeks now.  The first week-week and a half there were not issues whatsoever.  100% connection, everything running fine.
The past few days have been a different story.  Multiple times a day now one of the computers (completely random on which one will do it when) cgminer gives me one of 2 errors:

either "Stratum connection to pool 0 interrupted"  or "Pool 0 stratum+tcp://useast.middlecoin.com:333 not responding!"

Then the last line says

"Waiting for work to be available from pools"

After that it just hangs and does not do anything.  A few times it took me a few hours to find out it was not running, one time it froze right after I headed to bed so it was down all night.   Typically my other computers chug along just fine to the exact same server without issue, or at least hang at a different period of time.

I know when I used cudaminer for my old nvidia cards before my 280x cards showed up, if it was disconnected from a server it would reconnect again after 15 seconds, or at least try and keep trying after 15 seconds.  .  I am not sure what is going on here in cgminer, and if it has a similar auto restart feature that would allow it to reconnect again after losing connection.  Maybe it does and it is not working?  Anyhow I seem to have a LOT of down time the past few days.  If I notice it and then I close it down and restart to the same server, it seems to start right up again no problem.

I have tried useast and uswest as different bat files.

Also, is there a way to add multiple servers in the bat file to have it switch to another server in a case such as this?  I am just trying to figure out what I need to do to get my best uptime.

Thanks in advance!

Just as FYI, the stats seem to have stopped rather than flatlined as before.

Not sure if you mean graph or table. My personal stats are being updated in the table every few minutes.

@Humbleminer: thanks, that's exactly what it was!! Now finally mining away with all 6 gpus for the first time!! Epic!

2 things though:
- vddc shows 1.2v in the web stats interface but max 1.14 in my conf file... And ccc seems to confirm max at 1.14.
- hashrate is 15kh lower per card than in Win8.1

Undervolting via cgminer rarely works. You can use MSI Afterburner in Windows in order to check if the voltage control is unlocked and can be controlled by software. If not - you'll need to flush you GPUs' BIOS in order to unlock. This is potentially dangerous since that might brick your GPUs.

As for the hash rate - you'll need to play with thread concurrency, engine/mem clocks and other parameters for your specific cards in order to find a sweet spot.

Hi people,
im new here and can someone tell me why no shares and what i make wrong, i use:

-o stratum+tcp://middlecoin.com:3333 -u my wallet address -p 123
and nothing http://s861.photobucket.com/user/scotty_tu/media/middle_zpsabb88813.jpg.html

10x

Did you miss --scrypt by any chance? Looks like it.

yes i didnt use it, because when add it, just start and disapear.

Get cgminer 3.7.2. Use --scrypt option. Run from windows command line ("cmd") so you can capture any errors.

Fellow middlecoiners, thanks to two of you i finally managed to install ethernet drivers in BAMT! Thanks! Now however I get the dreaded red screen of death (fault detected on GPU 0,1,2,3,4,5)... although all 6 have been detected Sad

Details of my config files are here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=427387.new#new if any friendly soul fancies helping me out!...

Always start with a barebone cgminer.conf and then add parameters gradually. There is always a chance of a missing comma or misplaced quotes , which will lead to a red screen. For example I see this : "gpu-vddc" : @1.140@. The "@" is an invalid symbol there, start by removing the parameter entirely and then play with the value (in double quotes) after you managed to start cgminer for the first time.
