try --queue 0 --scan-time 1 --expiry 1

it helps, but my s2 usually has about 100ghash of rejected

Thanks!  That one change has made a bigger difference than anything else I've tried.  I'm getting higher hashrates now but still see around 15% rejects at the top end (175 Ghs) with an average around 100 Ghs rejected.  I'll play with those values and see if it gets any better.

That seemed to lower my hashrate and rejects by about the same amount ... was still getting > 20% ... I've given up on WH/NH SHA for the most part ... an effective hashrate of about 800 GH/s vs ~1100 GH/s (< 1% rejects) on other pools with > 100% average luck means it's just not profitable ... and this thing is barely making me $3 a day now, so downtime while I experiment trying to earn an extra few cents a day just isn't worth it ...

I do have WH set up as my primary pool, but with a price threshold about 35% higher than what the calcs say straight BTC should earn me ... if someone wants to pay an arm and a leg for SHA for some reason, I don't want to miss out on it, but I just can't make as much here with the S2 as I can elsewhere due to the massive rejects ...

Oh good, so this thing hasn't come close to returning my investment, and now instead of the upgrade they promised, they want me to fork out another ~$1250 for a whole other unit to run up my hydro bills more and *hopefully* make me back the money I put into the S2 and now the new S4?!?

I believe this is where the train stops for me ... done with Bitmain.

Did you just rebuild cgminer or a entire firmware upgrade?

Just cgminer.

I just built 4.6.0 on my S2 to try to resolve an issue I'm having with multipool.us (didn't work btw)

Code:
cgminer version 4.6.0 - Started: [2014-09-18 18:16:32]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There isn't really much of note in the NEWS since 4.3.5, but if anyone would like a copy just tell me where to upload it ...

NEWS since 4.3.5 with stuff relating to other hardware removed -

Code:
Version 4.6.0 - 7th September 2014

- We should not be checking for pool_unworkable in cnx_needed as it is keeping
stratum connections open on unused pools
- Properly handle lack of input when adding pool via menu
- Allow workers without passwords

Version 4.5.0 - 29th July 2014

- Reorder and document the configure options
- fix jansson include path in cgminer-api compile instructions
- Make submit_nonce2_nonce return whether the share was valid or not
- Increase the internal buffer for API response,   as "stats" command response
can grow greater than 8K
- Detach test pool thread only if we have a blocking startup

Version 4.4.2 - 17th July 2014

- Remove the use of the pthread_tryjoin_np which is currently unimplemented on
many platforms
- Fix processarg parameters loaded from a config file not being saveable
- We only use the jansson in our source tree so no need for special case
handling of older versions
- Upgrade jansson to 2.6
- Only clear sockbuf if it's been allocated
- Fix missing osm-led-mode support in write config
- Deal with nanosecond overflow in both directions on both addition and
subtration of timespecs
- production stats added, reset queue added
- Avoid blocking all pool testing if one pool fails to ever init
- There is no point storing the hints addrinfo in struct pool
- initialise more pool values in benchmark
- merge upstream frequency changes
- Fix an off-by-one.
- fix AntS1 breakages from AntS2 changes
- noncedup - give access to the internal stats

Version 4.4.1 - 21st June 2014

- Clean up pool failure and failover code for stratum

Version 4.4.0 - 16th June 2014

- Clear the pool idle flag in the pool test thread
- Display error message if we receive one on share rejects
- Allow zero length strings to be passed to valid_hex
- delete unused roundl definition

Oh, and it has no getwork support since it couldn't find libcurl despite it being installed, and everything I use supports stratum anyway, so I couldn't be bothered to fight with it any longer than I did trying to get it to see the libraries ...

UPDATE - Nevermind.  Absolutely TERRIBLE hashrates with it ... ~3 Gh/s on Slush's pool, and maybe 250 Gh/s on westhash ... went back to 4.3.5-s2 ...

I am having no problem connecting with Westhash but I cant connect to Nicehash, very strange!

Ah! It was showing alive for me but when I forced it to switch it went dead, and my price threshold is exactly what is currently paying, so it should be alive -

Done, but no change Miner still says Dead!

Its like my Antminers are blocked from connecting to the pool?

My S2 is happily connected to westhash with "pass": "d=1024;p=0.0211" ... running Kano's firmware w/ cgminer 4.3.5s2

now how i can advertise my preferred rates on which i'll lease my rig
while rig is not hired it shows that it is mining and shares are getting accepted but i cant see it is mining in any of my failover pools
is there any step my step tutorial which shows how to set our rigs and advertise on portal

p=threshold in your password, for example (from my SHA config) -

Code:
      "pass": "d=1024;p=0.0218"

I used nicehash for the last 2 months selling my hash power, and the reason for that is because it was more profitable then other multipools, and last 2 weeks that changed.

This system needs some regulation

Not really. It's basic demand and supply, there is no need to mess with it. If providers feel they are underpaid then supply will decrease and if there is still demand then prices will rise. Which brings providers back.

Um, yep, this is why price thresholds are supported in the password field ... I was using them back when NH was more profitable than my multipool of choice, and I continue to use them today ... I update my threshold every day based on the rolling average previous 1/3/10 days of the multipool - if NH can do better, I mine here, if it can't, I mine there, fully automatic, no need to pay attention to where my hashes are going, nor to come here and complain about things ... I hash for whomever I expect will pay the best, and the money shows up in my wallet at the end of the day ... perhaps more people should give it a try so they have a little less to get stressed over and complain about ...

needs more sha-2 miners still no blocks found....  Undecided

Mined here with my TH rig for quite a while.  Even rented an insane amount of hashing power to try to find us a block ...

And then what happened to all those shares?

Thrown in the garbage when the N window rolled by without a block found.

No thank you.  I'll be keeping all my miners on sites that have a "paid for every share" system.

You're never going to find a block if you keep driving people away with this system.  Why would I sit here mining for say, two months hoping we find a block when the payout will be the same if I spend the next 6 weeks actually earning coins and then jumped in for the last two?  Yes, fine, there is no way for me to know we'd hit a block in exactly two months and jump on for those last two weeks, but my point is the six weeks before that is just a complete waste of my time, running up my hydro bill, and I get zero credit for it.

In my case I use it to keep my room from getting insanely hot while I'm here and more specifically, while I'm trying to sleep (like I would and should be right now if the room wasn't insanely hot from it running at 206, lol) ... could be useful for anyone on time of day hydro billing though if they wanted to run it at lower clocks during the more expensive times ...

This requires, for my specific schedule values -

s2-cgminer.conf
asic-freq.config.196
asic-freq.config.206
asic-freq.config.218

files to be in the current directory or an absolute path to them specified ...

As I understood we can run Kano's compiled cgminer under latest stock Bitmain's firmware. We just need some linux geek who has a little free time to try it.  Roll Eyes

I couldn't get it to work even with all the linking and everything else mentioned in Kano's README, it would hang after launch ... even if you could get it to work, you'd lose all your changes after a reboot (since you either have to overwrite cgminer or modify /etc/init.d/cgminer.sh), so you'd might as well just be running Kano's firmware ...

Yeah, 225/6386 thus far (30 minutes in) is giving me about the same hashrate (0.85% increase), and more than double the hardware errors (7.43% vs. 2.33%) ...
What was your value for 'timeout' and where did you get it from?

I don't recall ... I started with the values at the top of this thread but the timeouts seemed to go in the wrong direction compared to the stock config, and to a degree, logic (getting longer with higher clocks), so I flipped them around and use 36 on 218 ... I probably used 35 on 225 ...

Looks like they're all job not found.  Anyone have any tips on reducing those?  Scantime and expiry I'm guessing?

Scantime is useful only for getwork. Nothing you can do here, but to try WestHash (if you are located closer to US West). Job not found are stale shares - your miner is too late.

Thanks!  Looking at my stats it looks like I'm getting a higher reject % from westhash despite being in North America!  C'est la vie ... I'll just factor the %s into my p= numbers when comparing to pools with lower rejects and payouts.

I think I'm going to do some scripting on my GPU miner to monitor the S2 w/ Kano's firmware and when it resets to stock, put my config back on it and restart cgminer ...

Code:
#!/usr/bin/perl

use strict;

my $s2pooldata = `echo "pools|" | nc 192.168.1.99 4028`;
chomp($s2pooldata);

if ( $s2pooldata =~ /btcguild/ ) {
        system("sshpass -p 'admin' scp -o UserKnownHostsFile=/dev/null -o StrictHostKeyChecking=no s2-cgminer.conf root\@192.168.1.99:/config/cgminer.conf 2>/dev/null");
        system("sshpass -p 'admin' ssh -o UserKnownHostsFile=/dev/null -o StrictHostKeyChecking=no root\@192.168.1.99 /etc/init.d/cgminer.sh stop 2>/dev/null");
        sleep 5;
        system("sshpass -p 'admin' ssh -o UserKnownHostsFile=/dev/null -o StrictHostKeyChecking=no root\@192.168.1.99 /etc/init.d/cgminer.sh start 2>/dev/null");
}

Requires perl, obviously, sshpass which on ubuntu can be installed with "sudo apt-get install sshpass", and nc which on ubuntu can be installed with "sudo apt-get install netcat-openbsd" ...

Save it as whateveryoudlike.pl and add it to your crontab to run every minute or five minutes or whatever you'd like (chmod 755 after creating the file, obviously)

If you use btcguild in your config file, other things you can look for to see if it's flipped back to (Kano) stock are -

nezumikun.kant
167.160.36.2
juros_kant
stratum.ozco.in

And as you can see you have to have the desired s2 config file in the same directory as the script, and named s2-cgminer.conf ... it'd probably be wise to update that to use a full path ...

This is for stock clocks, just duplicate the scp line and update the file name to asic-freq.config if you want to copy over a custom clock file as well.  You can add another ssh line as well if desired to copy it from /config to /etc.

Have just replaced stock PSU with Corsair AX1200i and overclocked a miner to 218 MHz. Seems to be OK, without any significant HW/rejects.

Does anyone know how to avoid resetting of configuration files during reboot?.. Copying it to /etc folder doesn't help at all, anytime I shutdown or reboot my S2 I forced to configure it again from it's factory settings...  Angry

Kano's?

It's built on an earlier factory image that had that same bug ... no fix until either he releases an updated version with the latest stock fixes incorporated, or we get a new version through the official channel with his fixes incorporated  Undecided

Rock and a hard place ...

On the bright side, for me, Nicehash has made some changes on their end and Kano's firmware now plays nicely with them ... I think I'm going to do some scripting on my GPU miner to monitor the S2 w/ Kano's firmware and when it resets to stock, put my config back on it and restart cgminer ...

I'm consistently getting about a 10% lower hashrate from Nicehash than multipool.us ... I thought it may have just been network related, but I just noticed most of my rejects say this -

Code:
[2014-07-27 21:47:48] Rejected 3235311f Diff 1.3K/512 AS2 0 pool 0 (Invalid ntime rolling.)
 [2014-07-27 21:47:50] Accepted 0963b632 Diff 6.98K/512 AS2 0 pool 0
 [2014-07-27 21:47:52] Accepted 0eaf3303 Diff 4.46K/512 AS2 0 pool 0
 [2014-07-27 21:47:53] Accepted 2f8a9177 Diff 1.38K/512 AS2 0 pool 0
 [2014-07-27 21:47:55] Rejected 1cc9bed3 Diff 2.28K/512 AS2 0 pool 0 (Invalid ntime rolling.)
 [2014-07-27 21:47:56] Accepted 7f3e1e32 Diff 515/512 AS2 0 pool 0
 [2014-07-27 21:47:58] Rejected 59d3794f Diff 730/512 AS2 0 pool 0 (Invalid ntime rolling.)

I'm guessing that's what is killing my hashrate ... any known fixes for this?  There's VERY little information online about rolling ntime period, and pretty much nothing about shares being rejected with this error ...

Antminer S2 running cgminer 4.3.5.

Now I'm producing invalid shares and being directed to the FAQ with that same miner ... did you change the way the pool handles invalid ntime?  If so the FAQ could use an update because it doesn't address this specifically ...

Are you getting 100% rejects with share above target?

I'll have to check again ... will let you know!
