Portfolio value differs from the value of explorer.v.cash/address? problem in explorer?

If your saying the wallet balance is different from the explorer. It's because your wallet balance is divided into multiple addresses (you own) in your wallet. The funds are there just in different addresses.

For anyone else in the future who might have questions/issues go to the v.cash/forum/ for support.

Is there any ranking list of cryptos by tps?
Not that I'm aware of. Your list is probably the first but I could be wrong. If your aiming to find a project with TPS solutions. The only project I'm aware of that has applied a block size solution is Vcash. Developer John Conner enabled an adaptive block size algorithm in the latest Vcash update 0.4.7. According to the devs the autonomous block size implementation allows Vcash to scale to ∞ TPS. http://v.cash/news.php

I read that Bitcoin has node incentive problems, meaning people don't get rewarded for running a node... are there any good coins out there that have solved that problem in a simple jet effective manner?

Vcash has node incentives and other features like ZeroTime for near instant txs and Chainblender for fungibility.

Re: Total transaction capacity of the entire cryptocurrency system?
by

according to: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Scalability

Quote
VISA handles on average around 2,000 transactions per second (tps), so call it a daily peak rate of 4,000 tps. It has a peak capacity of around 56,000 transactions per second, [1] however they never actually use more than about a third of this even during peak shopping periods. [2]

PayPal, in contrast, handled around 10 million transactions per day for an average of 115 tps in late 2014. [3]

Let's take 4,000 tps as starting goal. Obviously if we want Bitcoin to scale to all economic transactions worldwide, including cash, it'd be a lot higher than that, perhaps more in the region of a few hundred thousand tps. And the need to be able to withstand DoS attacks (which VISA does not have to deal with) implies we would want to scale far beyond the standard peak rates. Still, picking a target let us do some basic calculations even if it's a little arbitrary.

Today the Bitcoin network is restricted to a sustained rate of 7 tps due to the bitcoin protocol restricting block sizes to 1MB.

What I'm wondering is what is the total capacity of all currently functioning coins? That is, what would be a rough estimate of how many transactions all crypto-currencies can collectively handle right now?

If there's hundreds of blockchains then I'm guessing it is in the thousands, which would put it on par with VISA.

I'm not sure about other coins but Vcash with the latest update 0.4.7 has implemented an adaptive block size solution. According to the devs this allows Vcash to scale to ∞ TPS. https://v.cash/news.php

It would be really nice to have some basic youtube videos about vcash and its technology / advantages over bitcoin. We could refer people to these videos to get educated on the technology instead of making them scour through forum posts / figure it out for themselves.

I could imagine a couple to start:

What is vcash / what makes it better than bitcoin?

What is ZeroTime / how does it work / what problems does it solve / how many theoretical tx's does it allow / how fast does a ZT tx lock / how fast can I respend a lock tx?

What is chainblender / how does it work / what problems does it solve / how long does a blended tx take to blend / should i blend all my txs?

What is ZeroLedger / how does it work / what problem does it solve?

A video talking about network security / the use of udp / incentive nodes / PoS and PoW.
I completely agree. We have to start somewhere. Check out the recent developments regarding BaltimoreHourly's youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qClTXpa7xDw

We need professional articles on sites as cointelegraph, coindesk, etc
I guess the community gonna have to step-up and start emailing fintech oriented news websites like coindesk/cointelegraph. I'm sure if enough of us email them they will have to take notice. They are always looking for the next big thing.

Everyone here agrees that XVC has the best coin tech for a crypto currency. Speed, instant spend, secure, scalable automatically, anon if you want, super peers, etc. etc. But we also all agree it needs marketing and being brought to the right people and corporations for it to take hold. That is the difficult part. I figured the creator would have ideas and plans for that aspect since he has a degree in economics, but still waiting. And yes, I spread the word for 2 years to the point some people think I'm crazy, so I don't want to hear about everyone not doing their part, most are.
I could be wrong but I think john is waiting on us (the community). Before we can move forward into serious marketing we have to establish a solid active community first to get the ball rolling. Like you said lots of peeps have been doing their part which great and they deserve props but I feel like lately the community has been doing a fantastic job. I think we are gathering momentum now.

Now that the dao and ethereum have taken a serious knockback after what looked like almost a crypto takeover who do you all think the new kid on the block is going to be? Whos mining what and what coin do you see as having the biggest potential?
It seems to me that for now the only coin worth having is bitcoin, Any other coins out there that aren't shitcoins?
Take a look at Vcash XVC.
A lot of new features and inovative tech to make it the first perfect crypto to be used as means of payment

I second that also. Vcash has all the fundamentals covered with seasoned developers.

Surfing the tubes yesterday I was pleasantly surprised to find a youtube video on Vcash in Portuguese. It was really cool seeing someone talking about Vcash even though I didn't understand lol. As a english speaker not much I could do except use the clumsy video translation haha. The gentleman speaking seemed pretty excited about Vcash from what I've gathered. So that was cool. Plus it has 16K views as well.

Also Vcash was mentioned on a youtube video here, again to my surprise: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wA6KWzaFLyQ
Seems like a cool guy says he accepts Vcash donations. Kudos to whoever in the community donated Vcash to Adam the disrupt meister.  Smiley

This is bound to happen, considering the given supply of the coin.   The fact that it  will take another 4 years to mine 1M of the coin.  Applying the supply and demand law.  But, it's that the coin promotion isn't enough (just my opinion) and the community must step up to promote this coin just what the author of the thread do.  And I agree XVC is a gem waiting to be discovered.
I feel the same. But our community did step up for the rawx.io exchange beta vote. We got third place with 532 votes.

Kudos to the community btw nice job guys.  Wink

The poll has closed, the coins have been chosen.

Here's the results:

1. Lisk (971 votes)
2. Ether (570 votes)
3. Vcash (532 votes)
4. Ripple (442 votes)
5. Litecoin (370 votes)

Here's the complete list: https://rawx.io/poll.html

At least these coins are available for trade in the beta. More information will follow.

Vcash made it. Nice. 3 days left for the beta too. Sweet.

XVC hovering around 10 cents USD. What a freaking deal considering the XVC supply curve. Currently ~14.5 million and ~15.6 million by 2020. Also 3.1 million XVC is tied-up in incentive nodes. This is a gem just waiting to be discovered by the fintech community at large.

John Connor claims:

"You don't prevent it. Blockchain's have no end, only a beginning. Incentive Nodes and volunteers host the blockchain. Removing the blockchain from end user computers is how we can scale to millions of nodes without so much as a hiccup. ZeroLedger coded directly into the core code means it can be deployed anywhere including to embedded devices and microchips.

This combined with the Autonomous block size means we never have think about scalability again.  That said we are currently the most scalable cryptocurrency codebase in existence. "

and here is the guantlet thrown down:

" Feel free to write code to stress test the network and debunk it's scalability and we can re-open this topic and examine the results."

can someone prove this otherwise?

out of curiosity. how much would it cost to run a full scale TPS test on Vcash?

bigfryguy I don't think your going to get the response you were hoping for. It seems the whole thread just devolved in a pretentious pissing contest.

Action. Like the 1000 shitcoins that came before and died. And Vcash is apparently not entirely launched yet.

Yes you are welcome to hump any random garbage can along the side of the road. That is a form of action. Again I pity you.

Vcash is in beta sure but damn guy you don't have be to rude. Sure we have different views no need to get hostile and start insulting others for it.

I pity you n00bs. Sincerely good luck.

Welcome back TPTB. I thank you for your sincerity but I don't really need your pity. I have every confidence in John Conner's work because he actually developing and pushing real software. He doesn't just talk, he does. In my n00bie opinion that's what matters most. Talk is cheap because action speaks louder than words.

Unless someone responds to Fuserleers points, this thread just looks like someone trying to pump Vcash, then lacking the knowledge to respond to legitimate points raised.

I do know that Vcash can be moved around quickly, it seems like it could actually work as a currency (if people actually accepted it, which they probably never will) but I thought that the scalability came from centralization, i.e off chain transactions.

In all honesty the Vcash project moves fast. It's only a year and half old and has evolved quite a bit since genesis. Because of Johns rapid pace of development on the Vcash project we (the community) are consistently trying to play catch up understanding his technology and architecture. It's a learning process for us as much as it is for you. We are only human and that takes time. Unfortunately the very people like Fuserleer who could take a deeper look into John's code is unwilling. So what more is there to discuss? His mind is made up already and who are we to tell him he's wrong?

A noteworthy fact is Poloniex a reputable crypto exchange (I think we can all agree) has done a code audit on Vcash and to their satisfaction has allowed XVC to be accepted in one single confirmation (deposit/withdraw). That should signal that Vcash is uniquely different. Bitcoin is the only other coin that's granted a single confirmation. That notable feat considering how many coins are trading on poloniex.

Edit: word typo (ketchup) thanks for the heads up (I'm on a mobile).

The skills of John Connor are beginning to scare me a bit, even compared to things like Ethereum.

John Connor's work in this space is astounding (mind blowing). His work imho has made bitcoin's promises into reality. John is a master cryptographer/coder and probably the best in this space.

Well that is quite impressive. Is there any other method of doing anonymous transactions currently? (Whether its a service on top of bitcoin or another cryptocoin which implements an anonymous feature)

Also, why is it a seperate action in the protocol and not a standard (all transactions anonymous).

Vcash has an autonomous crypto-currency mixing and anonymizing mechanism called Chainblender. Chainblender allows Vcash users to send and receive anonymous transactions with optional use of the ZeroTime feature (instant transaction). Vcash allows for instant and anonymous transactions without blockchain bloat.

Block chains can't scale without centralization...period.  Anyone that says otherwise is arguing against CAP theorem which is an effect of the speed of light limit.

Side chains are nasty hacks that add more problems than they solve, as is the lightning network, segwit and all the other "work arounds".

This is a debate I've had many times and I spent a long time looking for solutions back in 2012-2013 before realizing the obvious.

A block chain is "a single threaded process", if you want more performance/scalability the only thing you can do is add more processing power per node, which raises the barrier to entry and reduces the number of nodes doing the actual processing (centralization).

The only way to increase scalability to 10,000 tps and beyond and maintain decentralization is to add parallelism to the processing of transactions, and drop the block chain based ledger structure. We're the only project that does that and has it functional today.

Eth is also looking at something similar, but they are 2+ years away from it as of today and it has limitations due to it being block chain based shards.

I will first admit I am no expert on blockchain technology or have any intimate deep knowledge on the subject. I am only lowly cryptocurrency enthusiast. However I believe John's explains the network implementation of XVC in the whitepaper. I only mention this because it seems relevant to your post.

I'm surprised it's not more of a hot topic considering most legit projects want mainstream use in some shape or form.
