But best to wait and see. Also it is hard to know if the coin developers will be able to actualy make it FPGA resistant as LUX says they will do.

Unless coin developers work with FPGA devs to develop an algo or series of algos, they will have an exceptionally hard time developing a coin that couldn't be put on an FPGA in a very short time.  Coins can be FPGA resistant, but FPGA bitstreams can be developed far faster than ASICs.  In the end it's only a matter of time between when a coin forks, and an FPGA can adapt.

Something is very wrong with Lyra2v2 reported hashrates.  They keep falling:

I'm normally pushing around 320mh/s.  It is currently reporting 3, and has been steadily declining all afternoon.

Anywhere I can edit how the API for zpool is interpreted? It appears a couple of hours ago, they switched profitability reporting on Keccak from BTC/MH/day to BTC/GH/day. I was wondering why my miners had switched to Keccak overnight and my balance graph went flat.

Here's the tweet about it.  https://twitter.com/_zpool_/status/942398598557388800

Pretty sure you want to edit Zpool.ps1, go to about line 89 and add:

Quote
switch ($Zpool_Algo){
    "X11"{$Divisor *= 1000}
    "qubit"{$Divisor *= 1000}
    "quark"{$Divisor *= 1000}
    "keccak"{$Divisor *= 1000}
}

Hi Claymore,

I believe the voltage issues with 9.8 and the beta driver, are specific to the RX580 cards, from what I've read the RX480s are just fine with the beta driver.

She wanted people to know - otherwise, I never name my sources. You don't do that (usually) or they stop doing you favors Tongue

'she wanted people to know' .... Smiley right, now I believe you

When Wolf0 AND Claymore tell you something, you believe it son.

Perfect way to start page 700.   Smiley

The DAG epoch issue: it seems AMD fixed it for Vega in drivers and now they are working on Polaris. New drivers will be available soon, may be in two weeks or so.

That's awesome news.  Time to scoop up all the GPUs on ebay!

Learn to crop.

Say what you want, but my kernel's... what, 40% faster?
I'm not criticizing your kernel or your programming ability.
I'm criticizing  your lack of tact posting pornography in a forum where people could be at work, or may have kids nearby.  Doubly so since you obviously put the kernel of interest in the middle of a double screen setup where you could have done it with ALT-Printscreen instead to just capture that window.

So yes, learn to crop.  Not everyone want's to have your fetish thrust upon their eyes.

You live on a different planet.
Just because someone makes something, doesn't mean they're obligated to share it with everyone else.  And if you really believe that, I'm coming to your place for dinner every night.

but isnt it the responsibility of everything else to fix the situation and make it fair again?

If you REALLY want to fix it and make it fair, create your own miner and open source it.

Not that he can't fight his own battles, but you guys are trying to vilify one of the better known software miner developers for cryptocoins.    Nothing is stopping anyone from creating their own miner.  If you think that a programmer who spent their own hard earned time learning how to code, and create a miner OWES you the software they've made --- try to think of it differently.  Let's say I own an ice cream shop that makes ice cream cones the fastest and the best.  Do you expect me to give you your own ice cream shop?  If you do, that's called entitlement.  Christian just happened make a miner before anyone else, for himself.  Interestingly enough it seems to me he's here to reassure you that he's not going to use his miner to tank your coins value.  I almost guarantee anyone else who has made a miner, wouldn't even register with the forums to discuss it.  They'd just power-mine and dump.  He also has a long track record of transparency, and has put countless hours of work into other open source projects that I am certain some of you have taken advantage of.

The nature of cryptocurrency is transparency and competition.  So before you get all crazy butthurt and demand forks and stupid ideas like a closed source block chain because one person made significant developments, take a moment to think about what you say before you say it.

All the forks on this coin have killed it.
Forks won't kill a coin.
Don't get me wrong, I want this coin to do well.
And you could argue that, but given that this coin has been "going uphill" the entire time, combined with rampant forking just as we're trying to get on an exchange (again), it's not going to instill confidence in anyone.
Miners aren't going to mine if they're not sure of what forks they're on.
Pool ops aren't going to host if there's still wallet and forking issues.
An exchange is going to have the exact same problems.

There's still some deep seated problem with the blockchain, and unless it's fixed really soon, it's going to be the coffin nail; as it were.

I program on the side myself, not for anything crypto-currency related, but I wanted to state this as a software developer:

If I had my own project, and the userbase started making (at this point) obscene demands of the free software I provide, and then begin to pressure me with a bounty -- it would certainly rub me the wrong way.  Just let them work at their own pace, and be grateful for what you have when it comes.  They honestly don't own anyone a single thing.

If anything, we (as miners) owe them.  Send them donations if you feel that they've helped you get the coins you have now; but don't feel entitled to updates just because you participate in the larger community, or even sent them a donation.  A donation is just that, don't expect anything in return.
