Re: MINING STILL PROFITABLE?

If you where to buy a 200 MH ETH mining rig off ebay.  Current pricing is $1,800.

You would need approx 340 days or 11 months to obtain Capital Recovery.
This assumes electric rate of 10cents.
Also assumes price & difficulty stay the same.

However, if the price of Ethereum where to increase 2x and difficulty would stay the same you could roughly reach capital recovery in 6 months.

However, in my humble opinion you could be profitable after 7 months if the crypto market expands.
Mining however, should be a long term investment and you should not be mining if you want to take daily profits.

Many people make mistakes selling their crypto early and miss out on the longterm gains.

Also if you live in the US, it would make sense to set your payouts higher to comply with tax codes.

You could always "adjust" your minimum mining payout to a higher amount and avoid paying taxes until you receive the coins your your wallet.  Nonetheless, the mining bubble is bursting and the weak hands are getting out.  You can pickup cards on the cheap now.  Current rate is about $7 per MH if your mining ETH.

Just saw this on eBay.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/197MH-s-7-AMD-GPU-6-x-RX480-1-x-RX470-Ethereum-Mining-Rig-No-Reserve/152951331198?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

The GPU crash is a good thing if your long-term.  If your short term, might want to work on the exit strategy.

We may see $100 570 cards very shortly.

Re: is it late to invest 30.000$ in a mining farm?
by

Not too late.  $30,000 should get you roughly $300/day in the current market.  If you where to invest, sure you could get 10x your investment, but if you have $30k in equipment that will hold value, even if the market crashes.  Once you pay off your equipment you can mine a ton of coins.  Its kind of a lottery at that point but my original mining setup of under $10,000 made me over 300,000$.

Re: What to mine and hold?
by

If you want to mine and hold I would suggest looking for newer coins with lower difficulty.  Check whattomine on a daily basis adjust your miners as necessary.
Don't put all your eggs in one basket.  Diversify and hold.
Currently you can mine quite a bit of ETN.  There is a lot of hype around this coin.  Predictions anywhere from $1 to $30 in years to come.  Either way it might not be a bad idea to mine around 1000 of each new coin and hold for a year or two.  If you mined 1,000 of each new coin you never know- could end up hitting the jackpot.

Staple coins seem to be Eth, Monero, Zcash.  But you may want to hold some Bitcoin gold as well.

Re: ZOTAC ZT-P10700G-10M GeForce GTX 1070?
by

on 30/08/2017, 21:33:58 UTC
Just installed the Zotac zt-p10700G-10M Geforce GTX 1070.

Stock hashrate on ETH out of the box is 26.3 mh/s

Memory type on it is Micron

I have it running on a test machine with (2) EVGA 1070 Superclocked GPUs.

With Precision Overclock I added +150 core 75% Power & +500 memory -- results in Eth 30.3 to 31.1 mh/s

Overall I'd say that the performance is exactly the same on ETH as the EVGA superclocked editions with the exception that it is running about 4-5c hotter.

I'll do an update once I test with the other coins.

thanks

Re: Is it worth it to build a 6 or 8 GPU mining rig today?
by

I'd say go for it.  There are several things to keep in mind though.  If you are looking to make a quick profit it would be better to just buy currency and wait a month or two for a 10-30% ROI.
However, if you are like me and enjoy the mining experience then you can do like I did.

I started out with 1 GPU rig of 6 480RXs.  I reinvested all of the revenue and I currently have over 80 GPUs.  My electric bill is over $700/mo.  My GPUs are bringing in nearly 4,000 a month.  However, Instead of cashing out or taking any profit i've been re-investing for hardware.  It's been an amazing journey over the last year. Not bad for an initial investment of $3000.  I now have close to $24,000 in equipment.  I wasn't in this for the money, just the experience.

The point of it all imo, is to have fun.  Re-invest all your profits and just see what happens.  My personal goal is to have 3,000 GPUs mining from the initial investment of $3,000.  Note:  I do pay the electric bill out of my pocket.

That is all.

Supply and demand will probably drive the price higher.
When the difficulty quadruples I'll still be profitable with my setup.

Mining and selling for daily profits is never a good idea.

The real money made is mining a cheap coin and hoping for growth.

"When others are fearful, be greedy.  When others are greedy be fearful" - warren buffet

But I do agree the current "daily roi" is going to decrease 50% by December.

Advice to noobs - find a coin with a finite supply ( maybe hushcoin ) and point your miners at
That when they are unprofitable "daily" and hold for 3 years.

Thank me later.

Rising difficulty - thoughts
by
IamRune
on 18/06/2017, 02:58:58 UTC
What are your thoughts on the rising difficulty of ethereum?
Looks like network difficulty has almost doubled since April.
Could be an interesting 6 months in the mining scene.
Especially with the shortage of 570/580s yet increase in difficulty.
I'm curious to see the effects of Vega.

My setup netted me about 20 Eth/month a few months back now I'm getting roughly half that.
Which has been terrific with the increase in price, but we might be in for a break even period.

My thoughts are when the difficulty of eth makes it unprofitable people will swap coins which will do great things for the other Alts.

I still think you have to flash your bios before using SMOS.  I've tried almost everything to get my 570s to hash more than 23/mh.  still no luck.

Hey Guys,

I need help with my overclock settings in SMOS.

Currently I have the following cards.

12x 480rx 8GB
6x 570rx 4GB.

Below are the OC values I set in SMOS.
Powerstage is set to 5.

The systems are stable and have no issue.  However most posts I read say I should be getting roughly 180MHS or 30+ MHS.

Eth1   ON(0)   166.61 MH/s 0 H/s   71 70 54 50 54 56 ℃
55 48 48 48 48 48 %   1202 1202 1125 1150 1125 1125 (5)
2100 2100 2080 2100 2080 2080       More

Eth2   ON(1)   161.72 MH/s 0 H/s   59 54 53 52 62 54 ℃
47 47 47 47 47 47 %   1100 1145 1145 1100 1145 1100 (5)
2080 2080 2100 2080 2080 2080       More

Eth3   ON(2)   142.49 MH/s 0 H/s   54 56 68 53 49 53 ℃
61 61 61 61 61 61 %   1150 1150 1167 1150 1150 1150 (5)
2080 2080 2080 2080 2080 2080

Anyone have any ideas?  Thank you.

Increase power stage to 7

I tried changing the power stage.  There is no change.  Do my mem clocks need to be changed?  I'm more concerned about the 6 570s that only hash at 142.  I would like to get to 160 if possible.

thanks,

MSI - 270 Troubleshooting - Only recognizing 4 GPUs

on 26/05/2017, 21:51:08 UTC
Hello I recently purchased a MSI 270 motherboard to pair with (5) 570s and (1) 580.

I cannot get (2) cards to recognize and I get an error when loading Simplemining.  If I leave the (2) out then it works fine.

Ive tried swapping the risers and they appear to function correctly.

Any ideas?

Thanks
