I think devs should send some btc to cryptsy. Voting will end soon
The devs have already sent over 2 BTC to cryptsy, which is enough to cover any expenses they might have.

Personally I don't trust cryptsy, this seems to be just another get-rich-quick scheme for them.
There is no guarantee that they will actually add coins, nor is there any transparency about how the funds are going to be used, nor about how the coins are chosen etc.
They might just pick two randomly, or pick the lowest on the list. The ones at the top are making a lot of 'free money' so why would they remove those immediately?

I feel like we should be using our reddit.com/r/Digibyte/ as a discussion platform in favor of this thread. That way, other redditors can read about our amazing coin more easily, and we can start tipping!

+1

Shouldn't we be using both bitcointalk and reddit? Tongue
Yes, And IRC too!
Utilize all the channels!!!  Cool

We added Digibyte to Comkort.com

Welcome!
Nice!
Does http://comkort.com have an API as well?

I manage the IRC bot in the #digibytecoin channel, and would like to add live stats for your exchange to it.

Well I mined on digiforce on the night, I'm sorry but I lost my dgb, I never get them for the past night and my sold stayed at 0 so I dunno how you can say all is work and no one lost dgb.
I have the new wallet which is worked perfectly so the problem comes from the pool.
Which pool were you using?

And will DigiShield prevent my wife from getting pregnant?
Yes and no...
The more time you spend watching DigiByte, the less the odds of you getting your wife getting pregnant. ;-)
(ie. If you spend 24 hours a day, 7 days a week behind your PC, watching this forum and the exchanges, your wife won't become pregnant with your baby Wink )

With the new wallet update for friday , is it ok to switch to the new wallet now, or should I wait untill Friday? I do know I need to copy old the wallet.dat, and put that into the new wallet directory once updated.
The new wallet will emulate the old wallet until the switch, so it is fine to switch now as the new one is fully backwards-compatible. It's best to do so before Friday so it can sync and you'll be ready for the switchover.
After Friday everyone should be using the new wallet.

i was researching some ideas to use a shield for DigiShield and the most cool is the Warner Bros Shield, now imagine instead of WB we use DGB and where its Warner Bros. Pictures we use DigiByte Shield 2.0 blue and gold color's will finishe the cool thing! Cheesy

I'm pretty sure that logo is either copyright or trademarked. If we use that logo with the DGB letters, we might end up having problems with Warner Bros, which we probably want to avoid at all costs.

Same goes for other logos. We can't just copy and change it a little bit. If it still looks a lot like a company logo, we should probably avoid it and try to find something else.

I've never had to deal with an update, being still new to all altcoin stuff.  I've downloaded the new wallet from the post Digibyte put up, and of course I have not addresses, I am assuming as I did not have any DGB in my wallet and had only used 1 address while trying to set up my miner that it doesn't really matter and I am essentially starting from fresh right?

Also what happened to pickaxe pool.  I had a few DGB on there (459 maybe) not much at all i know but it was just what I earned while I was testing but I can't even load up the site now.

Rather than downloading the whole new wallet what should I have done to keep the addresses I had generated ( thinking of future updates when I actually have a wallet with something in it to want to keep)

1. if you didn't have any coins or generate any addresses yet, then it's ok to simply start fresh. Otherwise make sure to keep the wallet.dat file (also back it up regularly) as that is the file that contains your private keys -> the stuff that uniquely identifies you as the owner of the coins in your wallet.

2. pickaxe pool appears to be down. As far as I know there was no announcement or anything. I think they are having issues with their server and or hosting provider (again?).

As predicted

Not even close buddy.  While a hundred other shit coins have failed over the last 7 weeks, this one has survived and is on headway to thrive.

Does anyone know what happened to the Pick Ax mining pool? https://www.pickaxe.cc/dgb/
I think they're down temporarily. All their coin-pools seem to be down, so they're probably having some issues with their server.

http://dgb.smalltimeminer.com appears to be down as well. MPOS is running, but the stratum servers have been down since the 20th.
https://pool.chunky.ms/dgb/ also has 0 workers and 0 hashrate, and haven't found a block in the last 3 days. Though I'm not sure whether they are just unlucky or if the stratum server went down as well.

I think another positive thing that Digibyte as a community should do is to have the development team or Digibyte main account holder here gather in the IRC channel. It seems to be dead there. Would be good to use that as a way to discuss announcements and other developments with the coin before it hits the forum here. Would create an even stronger loyalty base.

JMO.

YC

I agree 110%!

It would also help avoid some of the slowchat that is happening here. Stuff like the cgminer configs etc are much more suited for IRC/chat. You get an immediate response instead of having to wait hours for someone to reply to your message. Smiley

AND you can also spam1 your pools there! There's even a bot that lists some of the pools.
(If you run a pool and want the bot to have your pool's statistics as well, send me a PM or message on IRC with an API key for your MPOS installation and I'll add it to the !pools option. Smiley )

1 Note that by spam I mean promote, not flood the channel with advertisements.

Yea I meant if I specify port 10000 in the .conf file can others connect to my wallet/node then?
Not automatically, you'd have to tell other users to connect using addnode=YOUR.IP.ADDR:10000 in their config files
Otherwise the wallet software will only try port 12024.

I used coinmarket.io to buy my coins and it worked really well!
https://cryptorush.in/index.php?p=trading&m=DGB&b=BTC is another exchange that has DGB, but it doesn't have as much volume as CoinMarket.io yet. This means that you might be able to find more extreme deals there, leading to bigger profits / more coins if you're lucky.

There is also the site: http://cryptokopen.eu which sells DGB for a fixed price, using Skrill payments.
However there are rumors going about that the Skrill payment provider is bankrupt, or is near bankruptcy, so I'm not sure whether that is still a viable option. (At least until CryptoKopen.eu starts offering another payment processor.)

It seems that my DigiByte wallet doesn't connect to DigiByte network and thus doesn't download the blockchain :S What could be the problem?
Could someone help me please? I don't have any problems with other wallets but for some reason this one doesn't connect :O It's permitted to go trough firewall so that shouldn't be the problem.

Have you tried to add nodes?

addnode=74.208.230.160
addnode=31.220.25.91
addnode=184.155.218.183
addnode=24.119.23.61
addnode=70.196.193.231
addnode=198.98.118.241
addnode=142.4.204.115
addnode=23.90.191.58

If those don't help, you could also try adding:
addnode=84.27.153.252
I'll see about allowing more than 125 connections to enable supernode mode.

Edit: currently allowing 500 connections, though if my connection becomes too slow I'll throttle back to something sustainable.
Allowing a maximum of eight connections per IPv4 /24 subnet and 2 connections per IPv4 address to spread my availability over the network.

Where am I supposed to add these things...?

Also, I was afk for a while and when I came back I noticed that it had downloaded about half of the blockchain, but now it doesn't have a connection anymore :S
There should be a file called digibyte.conf (or you can create it) with the addnode= lines in there. (See the first post of this thread for additional stuff to put in the config file.)
The location of that file varies, depending on your operating system. On Linux it's ~/.digibyte/digibyte.conf and on Windows it's in %APPDATA%/local/Roaming/ off the top of my head (someone correct me if I'm wrong)

As for the network connectivity, most people are behind a firewall or NAT, thus they severely limit the outgoing connections on the wallet. This means that there are only a few nodes that connect all those other nodes together. Once a node has reached it's limit of connections, they stop accepting new users until an existing user disconnects. In some cases there are way more users than 'slots' available on the nodes, which leads to some users not being able to find any available nodes to connect to.
