This community bitcointalkforum I feel was established to to bean ecosystem where bitcoin and cryptocurrency related topics should be discussed. But for reasons most of us have derailed from I also been guilty in a way. So waking up to the demotion news I was not sad at all rather I was challenged to really get to know more and do more research and come up with more reasonable post.

I'm sorry OP, if this would seem rude! But there was absolutely no reason for this thread, literally! as your post could have been posted in the thread official thread about the new rules https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5030366 and still get your intended audience, if creating thread such as this should continue, It will only make upcoming implementation of forum rules more strict and that would be rather too bad for fair users.

There's no point worrying too much, Sometimes situations such as the current state of the market needs to happen for things to get better, ETH definitely bounce back and so will altcoins, just hold on for a little a while longer.

Re: Tactics When Market is Falling
by

Sell your coins, when the price of them drops, you can buy at a lower price. This way you can double the number of your coins.

That would be a riskier approach, what if after selling your coins and then price fails to fall low further, and eventually ends up rising way back up ?. My preferred tactic is to invest more in coins I hold when I think it has hit its rock bottom, at least that'd lower my average cost of the coin and I wouldn't have to wait for it to hit it's initial ATH before I sell and make profits.

Defunct Mt. Gox has opened up its online rehabilitation claim filing system.
by

Hello, I Just came across this news a while ago.

Defunct bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox has opened up its online rehabilitation claim filing system to corporate creditors who were holding cryptocurrency funds on the platform when it went belly up in 2014.

Mt. Gox rehabilitation trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi made the announcement in a document dated Sept. 12 and published on the Tokyo-based bitcoin exchange operator’s website. According to the document (https://www.mtgox.com/img/pdf/20180912_corporate_en.pdf), creditors must file their claims by Oct. 22 to be eligible for compensation.

CCN reported (https://www.ccn.com/mt-gox-estate-begins-accepting-claims-from-bitcoin-creditors/)
last month that Mt. Gox had begun accepting claims from individual creditors, who — like corporate users — must submit claims even if they had already done so during the exchange operator’s bankruptcy proceedings.

The exchange, which once handled 70 percent of all bitcoin trades worldwide, went bust in 2014 (https://www.ccn.com/bitcoin-exchange-mt-gox-ceo-mark-karpeles-disputes-u-s-fraud-lawsuit/)
, shortly after losing as much as $450 million (850,000 BTC) in what was long the largest theft in pure dollar terms in cryptocurrency history, having now been surpassed by the Coincheck hack that occurred in Jan. 2018.

Insolvent following the theft, Mt. Gox entered bankruptcy, though CEO Mark Karpeles — who served jail time for embezzling funds from the exchange — later recovered approximately 200,000 BTC worth of company funds.

Prior to the exchange’s exit from bankruptcy, Kobayashi attracted criticism within cryptocurrency circles for his decision to cover the exchange’s outstanding liabilities by liquidating its cryptocurrency assets in large batches on spot trading markets, rather than through the over-the-counter (OTC) channels typically used by large-scale traders. Following the company’s entry into civil rehabilitation, Kobayashi pledged that there would be no more surprise sell-offs.

Creditors, moreover, have petitioned to receive their repayments directly in cryptocurrency, specifically in bitcoin and bitcoin cash. While not guaranteed, this is now possible, pending court approval, since the exchange will compensate creditors through civil rehabilitation rather than bankruptcy. Compensation will likely be paid in late 2019.

Bitcoin wallets belonging to Mt. Gox hold 137,891 BTC and BCH, according to the Mt. Gox Cold Wallet Monitor, collectively worth nearly $1 billion at the current exchange rate.

$50 ? I think that's a bit more of an exaggeration; I doubt ETH will ever go that low, but really If that's what it would require to have ETH way back up and running again then so be it!

Re: WHY 99% OF ICO IS SCAM?
by
IciCestMathers
on 12/09/2018, 19:19:00 UTC
Hi, lads!

There are many ICOs ongoing at present but in 2018 a lot of them is a SCAM. Why does this happen?

It will be interesting to hear your opinions.

Thanks, friends!

This happens because a lot of people are actually very greedy, they'd prefer to exploit any available opportunities to rip/dupe and scam people mostly the naive and less experienced ones off their money or assets. And for the fact there is a lot of money being pumped into the crypto space and there are a lot of people who fall into the aforementioned category makes ICOs one of the best options for them to carry out their exploits.

Will the current market situation turn better?

Now that I hold some digital tokens, can anyone tell me to continue holding them or sell them directly?

It will surely get better, but no one can say, for sure, when or how long it will take for the market recovery to occur. Holding or selling should be at your own discretion, just do some research about the tokens you hold and If you think it has a chance of getting better, you can hold.

Re: How long time will take to market rise ?

How long time will take the markets go high ? What are your ideas about market cycle ?

This market getting worse day by day so what should I do for it? Should I wait for more time?
The market cycle could take maybe weeks, years, decades or forever to rise significantly (Nobody knows for sure) as it will always remain unpredictable and based on speculations.
Before deciding to wait or sell out your coin in the current market conditions, You should ask yourself a question, Can you afford to lose your current investment ? If yes, then waiting will most probably be the best option, but If No, you might wanna sell some to cut your losses just in case that's what it all comes to.

Re: Will the rise in 2018 be the same as in 2017?

What are your plans for the crypt at the end of 2018?
Are you waiting for the repetition of the events of the end of 2017?

I think that there will be no strong trend, because there are no prerequisites for this. Many people are waiting for take-off, but I think that this take-off will be only in 2019.
As far I as know in crypto, past occurrence really doesn't play any impact whatsoever on what the future trends will be, so, I'm afraid I'd have to agree with your opinion, but the crypto's volatility could have us taken aback yet again. And as for my plans, all I think I'll do is to cash-in on some coins (To save myself from unnecessary panic selling) then sit back and watch how events will unfold.

Re: ETH to hold now or not?
by
IciCestMathers

Although the whole market is red, I'm very much afraid of holding ETH now. In my opinion, ETH was fluctuated to its ATH when people were more interested investing in ICO. Nowadays ICO is almost dead. That is why it has less demand. I don't think it will get another ATH soon.
What's your thoughts on it? Should I hold now?
Holding ETH now seems like a great idea as it is currently at its lowest range in almost a year,
It eventually should hit another ATH, but it's a matter of how long and only time would tell. The whole red market is affecting all ICOs, even a lot of ICOs had to suspend their sales with hope for the market to recover pretty soon.

Re: Ethereum's Price
by
IciCestMathers
on 05/09/2018, 21:22:13 UTC
I really taught this year was for Ethereum but what happen? Undecided I'm so disappointed holding it. Why did Ethereum go with btc flow? Everytime btc falls it falls also. I’m rooting for it since its is an open-source, public, blockchain-based distributed computing platform and operating system featuring smart contract. If the erc20 token using it has high price then why is ethereum price not directly proportional?
In your own opinion?

The price of ethereum, like other types of crypto currency, depends directly on the price of bitcoin. Ethereum simply can not do otherwise. This is due to the fact that bitcoin has a very high degree of capitalization compared to other types of crypto-currency. This gives him the opportunity to dominate the price over all crypto-currencies. If such a situation ever changes, and bitcoin loses its high level of capitalization, then its price dominance will disappear.
I don't think ethereum drastic fall is due to bitcoin's current decline, if you should consider the rate at which ethereum is falling it is way bad and nothing to compare to that of bitcoin's and bitcoin isn't doing that bad, but ethereum is one of the alts doing terribly bad these days which could be subjected to some hidden manipulation.

Re: What is your experience in trading?
by
IciCestMathers
on 05/09/2018, 21:05:13 UTC
My experience is not much in trading but the losses and profits of the suras I have experienced in the crypto business. the important thing in this business is patience and calm in choosing a coin on the exchange for long-term investment.
That's it, long-term investments give the greatest result. From my personal observations, I can say for sure. To all this, saving time and nerves.

Long-term investments can bring the greatest profit. I do not even risk my capital. Experience and knowledge is what you need to get at a crypto currency market that would not be wasted Cool

Long-term investments is a greater risk, A good instant trader will earn as much as if not more than someone dealing in long-term investments(which imo possess more potential risks) over the same period of time eventually. And in long-term investments you never can tell how long a project will be around for, you'll find some projects hit the market and after a few months or a year the project collaspes and investors a left stranded. But still everyine should trade

Re: Are you picky with ICOs?
by
IciCestMathers

I'm extremely picky, just as every other smart investor should always be, Since there are a lot of projects out there in the crypto space that are either below par or just nothing but scam, being picky should be a basic necessity before investing in an ICO.

Re: Do you trust ICO Rating sites?
by
IciCestMathers
on 04/09/2018, 23:52:32 UTC
They seem biased to me. A friend of mine who's doing an ICO told me that they paid 10ETH for 5 quality ratings and that's that! I noticed that some ICOs with good project, team, and good social media presence are struggling with getting good reviews.

With all that said, should it still be a factor to look at when investing in ICO?
I don't trust Ico Rating Sites, I could use them to know or get initial informations about an Ico and its timeline, but definitely not for my jurisdiction about the project,  In the light of a lot of malpractices in the ICO rating platforms, it is more important than ever for investors to conduct their own research before investing in a new blockchain project. Relying solely on ICO ratings could lead investors to place funds into mediocre projects or even into ICO scams that simply paid for good ratings and reviews. Hence, the old cryptocurrency investing acronym “DYOR” (do your own research) cannot be overemphasized.

ETH success is not solely based on its supposed sudden popularity, but in terms of innovation, and technological advancement etheruem has been impressive too. The ethereum blockchain network currently allows third party applications to run on the network, not just Ether and not just money either, a lot of other forms of data can also be stored and these literally has brought about increased public adoption.

Re: Hodlers will not change the world
by
IciCestMathers
on 04/09/2018, 14:04:29 UTC
Holders are making a future for everyone. I am one of those hodlers and hopefully, I can manage to hold until the market gives us a good price. Once thing is certain, if you hold the right coins for the right period of time I think the result will be some profit. You may not believe they can change the world but when it comes to making profits in high percentages, it will be noticed and felt by the world.
I doubt that, If everyone decide to keep holding and there is no demand in the market, nothing would drive the price higher, For every successful market everyone has their part to play from active traders to panic sellers and those whose sell for little profit, but, I doubt strong holders really have any huge impact in the market as they have no influence in the current price of the market.

The future of a lot of altcoins might be at stake and redemption opportunities might never come around for so many of them, But there are some altcoins with great working products, as well as experienced and strategic team, that, in my opinion would definitely survive the current state of the market.

Re: What will become of Bitcoin if the price keeps falling?
by
IciCestMathers
on 01/09/2018, 10:51:41 UTC
if prices continue to fall, then I'm sure bitcoin will die. but now I see bitcoin price movements are quite normal, because bitcoin has never had a stable price. and now bitcoin still has a high price, because if we look at it 2 years ago bitcoin never reached the price as it is today.

I stongly disagree with your opinion about if it keeps falling, I think it would only be a matter of time regardless of how deep it falls, It most definitely would always come back up after all weak hands are cleaned from the market
