With the BIP91 looking stable, seems that BCC would be just in the piles with the other alts.
But if it suddenly turns around laughing at us in the future-then I would reconsider myself in front of a mirror.

Can some people confirm/debunk the statement that about 50% of the hashing power is concentrated in china? If that's the case, then I can see why that is a BIG problem.

BFGminer and CGminer are both the biggest mining softwares written in C and both are open sourced and readily available to download on github. But remember that depending on how you are designing your miner. The atmega328p can only handle so much data and limited memory that you will need a host computer to hook up.
Also at this point in time there isn't alot of development and availability of bare asic chips. You might want to look at Sfards for their development board to get started. I know that Sidehack and his team are getting very close to finishing their Gekkoscience boards based on the antminer bm1384 asic chip which looks absolutely amazing. I wouldn't discourage you but you have the community (both this and arduino) to help out.

Re: What's your biggest problem with Bitcoin

The current availability of where I can spend with BTC is my biggest issue. I know time will tell but that is my biggest issue right now.
On another note, long confirmation times is another issue that could be dealt with.

The pi was infamous for its lousy usb reliability. I wouldn't be surprised if that is still the case.

1. I know that the anker hub is a more popular choice because it allows a higher current consumption thanks to its usb 3.0 design (up to 900 ma for standard specification)
I don't know which USB protocol version the protocol converter on the stick miner runs on but usb 3.0 hubs dont like running usb 1.1 devices if it is connected to a usb 2.0 host. Luckily you can force the pi to run at usb 1.1
2. For mining, RAM is not significant here
3. I personally run the pi myself for mining. You should be able to use your Mac for operating with the pi. At first run your pi to enable ssh and use your mac for remote access.
A fair warning that the pi USB can only handle so much traffic before packets start getting messed up. I would advise only run one hub with a few miners to start with.

I think selling DIY kits would come as a great benefit for newcomers since I personally found that building miners like the nanofuries taught me a lot about soldering and really got me into this bitcoin stuff. Can't wait to see what the product will look like.

[CLOSED] Bitfury rev.2 chips
by

on 23/11/2014, 06:52:35 UTC
Seems that getting bitfury bare chips are pretty rare at the moment, at least for me. But anyways, I'm hoping that I can find someone that can sell me about a fixed amount of 5 a low quantity of bitfury rev 2 chips for btc + shipping. pm me if you have offers, I'll ask about the shipping cost in private. I do warn that I will be using an escrow service if there is a transaction.

I meant the yellowjacket nanofury nf1s, I had issues where I have the miners disconnect and then replugged back in (I'll see if I can get a screen shot of the error line, right now the line cgminer posts was somewhere about "attempted reset got err (0): LIBUSB_SUCCESS). I also noticed as part of my problem is that cgminer doesn't show any hardware errors at all. After a day of mining the amount of errors it shows was 0.

I have a problem that I just couldnt figure out for months and I decided to post here to get some help.
I'm running cgminer-4.6.0 on a raspbian flashed raspberry pi with two yellowjackets mining on an orico 10 port usb 2.0 hub and I noticed that cgminer does not detect any hardware errors on my miners (I left if mining for a day and hw errors was always 0). Sometimes I get a reset error (it was somewhere on the lines of "attempted reset got err (0): LIBUSB_SUCCESS") which then causes cgminer to replug the miners again. I dont know what is exactly the source of the miners and I do not get any improvement with updating nor setting dwc_otg.speed=1 on the cmdline.txt boot file. Anybody else have the same issue?

I'm pretty certain that these "risks" can be nullified as long as the cryptocurrency community is supportive and growing. Then again, I have noticed China's attitude towards cryptocurrencies quite unfavorable.
Interesting post btw, we can evidently see more of what is coming next.
