ImCrazyOne  nice idea about connecting miner to PC directly.
A simple molex, I like it (sent a tip Smiley  )
Much better than the board - to 6 pin - to barrel I had set up.

Yes its very convinient, i have one miner sitting in every computer in my house even the HTPC that is connected to TV. So when i watch a movie or just use computer i know that i am also mining bitcoins. CGwatcher is a great tool to have it automate everything. Thank you for the tip kcal63.

Purse.io new site is so horrible. I can not confirm shipment and release bitcoins from escrow. And i just sent bitcoins to my purse wallet. After 4 hours transaction is confirmed but balance is still 0. Under transaction history it shows i have deposited it. SO MANY problems with new purse site. Hopefully they will fix it soon.

Made a simple Bitmain Antminer U3 User Guide. Thank you ckolivas for cgminer that supports U3.
U3 Miners: http://www.ebay.com/itm/131352927860?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649
Molex to U3 Cable: http://www.ebay.com/itm/131367677323?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649

  • Download and Install Drivers http://www.silabs.com/Support%20Documents/Software/CP210x_VCP_Windows.zip
  • Plug power brick into AntMiner U3 before plugging power brick into wall.
  • Plug power brick into wall
  • Connect USB cable from AntMiner U3 to Computer
  • Download Zadig: http://zadig.akeo.ie/
  • Open Zadig and click "Options > List All Devices" Select CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller, and then click "Install Driver". After install is complete, please unplug USB cable and re plug it in after few seconds.
  • Download Latest CGminer: http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/
  • CGminer 4.8.0 will automatically detect U3 miner. Please set pool Username and Password to start mining. Default frequency will be 225Mhz and voltage 0.750v
  • To Overclock please run CGminer with the following parameters:
  • cgminer -o stratum+tcp://POOL:PORT -u USERNAME -p PASSWORD --au3-freq 225 --au3-volt 750
  • To overclock please change the values in --au3-freq 225 and --au3-volt 750
  • BITMAIN U3 MANUAL: https://www.bitmaintech.com/files/download/AntMiner-U3%20user%20guide.pdf
.
Let your U3 Miner be part of your computer. U3 mines Bitcoin while you use the computer. I will make detailed guide one of these days on how to set up CGwatcher to automatically start CGminer and start mining when you turn on your computer.

Thank you for the PSU warning. I have another 12v source i am using. Could you please give example .bat file or config file people can follow. I would really like to try out the 4.8.0.

I am using this and getting about 55 GH/miner cgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://(pool) -u (username) -p (password) . I would like to know how to change voltage and frequency, if anybody would post it here, I would greatly appreciate it.

In addition, the following parameters are recognised, though the defaults are obviously safest.
Code:
--au3-freq     Set AntminerU3 frequency in MHz, range 100-250 (default: 225.0)
--au3-volt     Set AntminerU3 voltage in mv, range 725-850, 0 to not set (default: 750)

WOW Works like a charm. It is much better than the bitmain's cgminer. You can run multiple U3's right from the start. GREAT JOB, I love my U3's even more now. Thank You. only thing is that sometimes pool starts with too high difficulty (1024) and just have to restart cgminer couple of times and it jumps down to (16)

I've made the first official cgminer release with support for these now (version 4.8.0). It is the same as the last binary I updated in performance but has some cosmetic improvements.

Note that these PSUs are VERY easy to destroy and I highly recommend people do not overvolt them with the provided PSU. Damaging the PSU will likely destroy the U3 as well. I'm not really sure where the fault lies but I suspect the PSUs are dodgy and if you have another power source, use that instead until bitmain can confirm whether there is an issue with the PSU. It wouldn't be the first device they've sold with a dodgy PSU.

Thank you for the PSU warning. I have another 12v source i am using. Could you please give example .bat file or config file people can follow. I would really like to try out the 4.8.0.

What is the command to start cgminer in lower difficulty. Bitmains user guide suggests --diffstart 6. Cgminer just starts and closes when i have that in command line. Is there different command i can use?

Try this:
Code:
cgminer.exe --bmsc-options 115200:0.65   -o xxx -u xxx  --bmsc-voltage 0800 --bmsc-freq 1306

That's it! Mining at 60GH on a raspberry pi.

Thanx mate!

Ok, I blew up my power supply Cheesy If you like this setting don't try it with the original power supply. Now using an XBOX supply. 14A is that enough? Wink

same here, power supply dead.

I just got mine ordered off eBay too and i'm having difficulties.  I was able to get and correctly install the right drivers, but still haven't gotten it to work. I see the command line going around has helped a lot of people...  I hate to ask a total n00b question here, but how and where do I go about entering that command information in CGminer?  I'm not too families with theses things yet, but I've been learning a ton lately and have been controlling my other usb miner with BFGminer on Slush.  Any help greatly appreciated here.

Bitmain's cgminer can be downloaded here https://bitmaintech.com/files/download/cgminer-run-windows-20141027.rar it is the only mining program that supports U3 at the moment. Once you extract the cgminer, make TEXT FILE in that folder and rename it cgminer.bat then right click on it and choose edit. then copy and paste this command line there (cgminer.exe --bmsc-options 115200:0.65 -o POOL:PORT -u USER -p PASS --bmsc-voltage 0800 --bmsc-freq 1306)
Ofcourse change the POOL to your mining pool PORT to the pool port USER to your username in that pool and PASS to the password. Start cgminer from the newly created cgminer.bat file. It will run the command and start mining.
Let me know if that helped

I just have the one miner hooked up to the computer's USB port.  It has never lasted through the night, every morning it is no longer hashing.   Other than today, it's only went Zombie one other time, usually when "it's not hashing" it just sits there showing 120 MH/s or 250 MH/s on cgminer and zero hashrate at the pool.

Between all the downtime and the low hashrate, I'm averaging 18.33 GH/s per day on this device.

I agree that it sounds like a software issue.  I think the driver and/or the cgminer fork need more work.

EDIT:  Just went ZOMBIE again, right after I made this post.  Restarted cgminer and it never found the device, restarted computer same deal.  Changed the Baud rate from .65 back to 1, ran cgminer, still nothing.  Pulled USB and Power Cord then plugged power then USB back in, ran cgminer again, now is hashing back away at 40 GH/s.   That lasted about 10 minutes.  For some reason, ever since I changed the settings to 0800 and 1306 and .65, it won't run for more than 10 minutes without going zombie, even though I changed the settings back to what it was sort of working on before.  I've just unplugged the miner for now.  I'm going to try and install it on one of my other computers tomorrow to see if that makes a difference before I give up on this device and Bitmain forever.

another thing i forgot to mention that you could try is got to control panel > power options > change plan settings > change advanced power settings > USB settings and make sure that usb selective suspend is disabled. See if it still goes zombie.

Try this:
Code:
cgminer.exe --bmsc-options 115200:0.65   -o xxx -u xxx  --bmsc-voltage 0800 --bmsc-freq 1306

Using these settings raised my GH/s from 40 to 50 but now I am getting large number of Hardware Errors saying Invalid Nonce.  The vast majority of all frequency settings spit out this same error except for 0755 voltage 0782 freq and 0755 voltage and 0882 freq, but I only get 30 and 40 GH/s on these settings.

Also, I haven't been able to get it to run for more than 12 hours without going ZOMBIE or just sitting there hashing at 250 MH/s.

Any ideas before I just get rid of this thing?

EDIT:  Lasted for a whole 7 minutes at 50 GH/s, now is ZOMBIE.  Going back to the 0755 setting for a whopping 40 GH/s.
I only have ZOMBIE issue when i plug more than one miner to my usb hub. Then random miner will turn zombie. Wierd, seems like software issue not hardware issue, Maybe weak power supply?Huh not sure

Thank you, This seemed to fix the GH/s issue. Now my U3 is mining around 61Gh/s. Now i need to figure out how to get multiple U3 miners working in one cgminer. Somebody suggested that once cgminer is running with one U3 just keep plugging more miners and it will detect them. It is working like this for about 5 to 15 minutes and then in random order they will all turn ZOMBIE and can not initialize incorrect device. So i unplug the ZOMBIE miner and plug it back in and it will recognize it and start mining, but soon after it will be ZOMBIE again. I have connected four U3 miners and i can mine only with single miner. If anyone has a tip or instructions on how to mine with multiple miners or how to get rid of the ZOMBIE issue please let me know.

I have tired a lot of different setting.  Thanks for all of the advice, but why hasn't Bitman done something, I paid for 63 GH and I am getting at best an average of 7.5.

Since I have two miners, I have tried them both with the same results,

Barbara

I agree Bitmain should fix this issue immediately. Everyone are having issues with U3s? At best they mine 45GH/s
cgminer.exe --bmsc-options 115200:1 -o pool:port -u user -p pass --bmsc-voltage 0755 --bmsc-freq 0882

BITMAIN PLEASE listen to your customers and help us resolve this mining issue. Clearly they are not mining up to par as bitmain promised at 63GH/s

there is absolutely no change in speed. when changing voltage to 0755 and frequency to 0782
Here is the screenshot
https://www.dropbox.com/s/opcn6gym9hrc92l/lowghs1%20111414.png?dl=0

As far as multiple U3s go. For testing purposes i connected two U3 miners to the same computer and ran bitmain cgminer. It keeps going in restart loop. As soon as i remove one miner the cgminer starts fine. Only then while cgminer is running i can add the second U3 and it will start mining

i have had best luck with this command about 45GH/s but not even close to 63GH/s as advertised "hassle free setup" not really
cgminer.exe --bmsc-options 115200:1 -o stratum+tcp://us1.ghash.io:3333 -u user -p password --bmsc-voltage 0750 --bmsc-freq 0882

can anyone let me know how to mine with multiple u3 in the same cgminer

Has anyone tried to compile this for 64bit?

I compiled it for 32bit (windows) without issue and the binary works normally. When I try to compile for 64bit (windows) it compiles fine, but the binary crashes with an error messages of "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)."

Any ideas?

..

Got it, my dlls weren't correct. Make sure you're using the correct dlls if you try to compile 64bit.

im having exact same problem, what dll did you install for the miner to start working?
