Re: Why was 21 million coins chose as the total number of bitcoins?

As a play on the ridiculousness of the legal age to drink alcohol being 21, while the legal age to sacrifice your life and finally becoming an adult is 18.

Easy fix. Open carry and trade in a public place with lots of cameras. Criminals are stupid but they aren't that stupid.

Since NY citizens don't have the same rights as normal people (and can't carry the tools required to protect themselves), I suggest they trade in the police station lobby.

I was thinking of that, the best place to conduct a transaction would be a Police Station, Bank, etc.

Claim Every opportunity you get.
Don't spend time looking back.
If you want something, man up and go for it, wether its a Gril, boy or a interview.
It's always worse to think "what if" then knowing the answer.

Aspiring, however, I did chuckle at, "Gril"(Common word if you're a gamer).

Re: There was no Big Bang, Truth shall set you free!!!!

It is quite peculiar, that religious persons in this thread are actually against the big bang theory. The big bang theory presents the option of there being a God, as it doesn't try to specify exactly how the big bang came around in the first place, though two popular assumptions was that colliding universes created the cosmic egg that turned into the big bang, or that God set the big bang in motion.

The author of this thread and all those who argue against the big bang, are also arguing against your own religion and whatever god(s) you believe in. This new theory, http://phys.org/news/2015-02-big-quantum-equation-universe.html, explains that the Universe might be eternal, which means it never had a beginning and will never have an end. It also completely takes God(The Abrahamic) out of the picture, as it's stated in the bible, koran, and torah that God created the universe(Which means that the universe had a beginning) and that all things come to an end, both of which if this new theory is correct, would shown to be wrong.

Indefinite Life: Relative Immortality
by
Indefinitely
on 19/02/2015, 15:00:41 UTC
I've taken quite an interest in the prolonging of Life, perhaps indefinitely and through either; biological, digital, or mechanical means. This would mean a state of relative immortality for all organic beings(There are already some animals that have "indefinite lives" such as a species of jellyfish and worm).

So my question is, who would be interested in prolonging their life indefinitely, assuming you will forever be in your physical and mental prime and/or beyond?

People prefer dealing with units and tens of units than fraction of a unit.

ask a zimbabwe guy who paid 20 million dollars for his last meal.  i dont think he'll agree.

I prefer dealing with fractions of units(Hence why coins with lower max coin supplies are better aesthetically). It's simpler. As "tss" said, would you rather pay 10million for a meal, or $2.50? I rather pay the $2.50, it's a much smaller number to deal with.

There's simply not enough information to soundly conclude that God must necessarily exist because you likened the Universe to a watch.  Plausible?  Sure.  Sound?  No.  That's about as clear as it gets.

I'm not even sure it's plausible. Invoking a god because of a lack of either imagination or knowledge (or both) is the ultimate deus ex machina - an difficult problem solved by a being that can solve any problem.

To me this is just intellectual laziness. It's just too easy to say "well I don't understand, so it must be caused by a god of some sort".

difficult != impossible

Exactly, well said.

Its because of the scam.

You see, when you have billions of coins, chances are the selling price is in single satoshi digits. So with large pre-mines, insta-mines, the devs can sell the coins, even at 1 satoshi, and still profit.

Then rinse/repeat with another billion coin.

This^, the mass majority of coins with such high max supplies have been, are, and are going to be, scams. This because it simply looks "better" if a dev announces he's going to have a 10% premine/instamine out of a coin that has a 100billion max coin supply and more likely to actually gather a small community, rather than saying he's gonna take a 10% premine/instamine out of a coin that only has a 10million max coin supply(which would instantly put the scamdev on the red alert to most people).

Coins with stupidly large supplies don't quite make sense, as Bitcon itself is divisible to 8 places and more, making having a large coin supply irrelevant.

Obviously, nobody read the article. It is about Ripple and Stellar, which are not just alt coins.

And, which are also not decentralized, subtracting from the whole point of "decentralized currencies".

OP isn't very wise. If the Big Bang never happened and this theory was right, then that would be a severe blow to the existence of the Abrahamic God, OP, which I know you severely believe in. Read the full article here: http://phys.org/news/2015-02-big-quantum-equation-universe.html

A eternal universe would be that there is no beginning and there will be never be an end, ending the notion that there is a beginning and end to all things, as said in the religious text, while also eliminating the Abrahamic God from the picture.

Your statements only confirm my theory that "god" is a petty, dishonest, vengeful, and blood thirsty life hating god.

"RELIGION. BILLIONS DEAD."
QFT, that's because god = ego. I'll just leave this here.
NO. lol The fact that scum such as he are allowed to continually fuck society over proves that the world is run by evil.

Your statements only confirm my theory that "god" is a petty, dishonest, vengeful, and blood thirsty life hating god.

"RELIGION. BILLIONS DEAD."

Very true...

All those who scam are those who become rich and live in freedom...and GOD is just helping them

According to The Grand Design by Sir Stephen Hawking, GOD used to exist before the Big Bang and even if he exists now, he does not interfere in everyday's affair. But, you might like to read Why you need GOD ?

So.... what made him/her/them suddenly become a non interventionist ? Roll Eyes

Everything that happened before a handful of drunken men went behind closed doors and decided how we should envision "god", implies that he/she/they were anything but.

For example :
He/she cast Adam and Eve from the garden of Eden because they ate a red apple slab of meat.
He/she came out of his/her racist closet after announcing that the Hebrews/ Jews are better than the rest of us.
He/she knocked Mary up.
He/she hooked Jesus up, by helping him turn water into wine because mom and friends needed to tie one on.
ect. ect. ect. Tongue

That is unless, the drunkards who sourced the King James bible, asked god to "play nice" so they could begin their centuries long genocidal rampage AND allow that fat ass to run off with everyone's (soon to be worthless) computer data.

EDIT

For those wondering why I bolded the words "them", and "they"..   Wink
http://youtu.be/6GdyH2cpmbU

Actually, a new theory has come forth to dispel the Big Bang. It states that the universe has no central point of origin, and is eternal(which would make time itself almost worthless), as well as a huge arguemnt against the existence of the Abrahamic God(As you know, in the bible it is said the universe was created or has a starting point/beginning and end)

Then, by logic, those who work in the upper financial system and get away with insider trading, theft, money laundering, avoiding taxes that better the economy for the poor, and dozens of other benefits should be punished by God? Oh yea, it's not happening because God doesn't exist.

"Bitcoin will be bigger than the internet"
by

on 13/02/2015, 03:59:02 UTC
"Serial entrepreneur Wences Casares created Argentina's first internet provider and later sold his online brokerage firm to Banco Santander for $750 million in 2000. He was 25 years old.

Now 40, Casares is a star of the Silicon Valley bitcoin scene, but his Argentinian roots inform much about him. The son of a cattle rancher, he sees the world in literary and philosophical terms, speaking of the arc of human existence over thousands of years.

Bitcoin has had a rough time lately, with its slumping value and high-profile flameouts, but Casares has no doubt that the digital currency will prevail. First, it promises efficiency and equality of access unlike anything the world has known. Also, he argues, technology has already created a leapfrog effect in the developing world. As cellphone usage shows, billions of people worldwide have cash but exist outside of the traditional banking and credit systems. Bitcoin unleashes that power.

Casares believes the revolution will take time, and bitcoin will not fully replace other forms of money. His newest company, Xapo, is said to be the largest custodian of bitcoin in the world, catering to people seeking to hold on to the currency in a secure way. As such, he says, Xapo is the "Swiss bank of bitcoin."

"Wences Casares: I think bitcoin may very well be the best form of money we've ever seen in the history of civilization."
