Right now it's easy to understand the basics in a short period of time. But with the years the whole cryptocurrency ecosystem would become more complex.
And maybe in 2030 it would be as hard to understand it as it is now to understand for 80-90-old gents and ladies the principles of the web.

I bet nobody who replied to this thread can describe smart contracts as if it was a programming language.

Re: Can the Most Powerful Computer on Earth Hack Bitcoin?
by

Good God!

Quantum computers can hack bitcoin. They're just not big enough yet. When they become big enough they will be able to hack most conventional cryptography ... this is an issue on a scale that completely dwarfs cryptocurrencies, so:

1) if/when quantum computers approach the size to crack bitcoin, we will all see it coming years and years ahead of time
2) you can be sure that if it's possible to protect from quantum attacks, e.g. by having some small contribution from quantum hashing power on the network, then it will be implemented in time
3) this is not even a bitcoin issue, it's an everything issue, so it's like worrying if worldwide all out nuclear war will disrupt the bitcoin network ... yes, probably, but nobody will care

I want to take part on this coin, but for us that are on signature campaigns it is not really a valid option Undecided
Could you possibly make a alternate option to those in signature campaigns so they can take part too on the airdrop?

What is a signature campaign?

Apparently if you get standard sgminer or variant you can do it, just set the right config options to one of the pools listed here

Hello guys,

I am a newbie here, how can I access my user ID #?  Reply is really appreciated.  Thanks a lot in advance guys.

Is the number when you click in your username, but for the airdroop you need a better position that newbie.

Is your number going up? My activity count is stuck on 15, even when I post a new response.

@dewilboys

my wallet is not syncing....how do i get it working?
If you have diffuculty in SYNCing with DeepOnion network

add these nodes in your DeepOnion.conf file:

addnode=jxiwwjdkyfg5pnov.onion:17570
addnode=ajkik3nr2rg2yfzn.onion:17570
addnode=nikluyytbjyofh3k.onion:17570
addnode=oixjcflkvygfiu53.onion:17570
addnode=c3fxk6jdwdkmh5j2.onion:17570
addnode=zqilsaza2dkipdgd.onion:17570
addnode=ktnxhqeoqb35inog.onion:17570
addnode=4txqulv4uxw72uvg.onion:17570
addnode=x6im6ycrlkpidmxn.onion:17570
addnode=qrmyraq4hkwixebh.onion:17570
addnode=hkgynfevf4sb2kvs.onion:17570
addnode=6g2sk3tlu72ywiu6.onion:17570
addnode=ux4o3k2ajyb4zpex.onion:17570
addnode=3o5y36p2bpgmlbeb.onion:17570
addnode=frxoq5rqw75g5vi3.onion:17570
I add these nodes,but still can't sync. Huh

i have the same problem.  dev~  cant synv

check your firewall if blocks all the tor edges

Can I just use a generic GPU litecoin miner for this?
You can use sgminer with x13 support

Thanks!!

So what you saying is that our nodes being active on the Tor network is critical to the survival of Onion, I don't know much about TOR but will soak up all relevant info. If so do you perhaps think that it might be a good idea to reward those that keep their nodes active till POS, as in most cases people dump coins and close their wallets and it will still be a while till we move to POS. Majority only stick around for exchange pumps, at least this is the case with most alts, and of course when price surge.

The more wallets online support faster transactions. At the same time the Tor Network becomes stronger.

I can't paste even a junior profile into my signature. Not enough characters :\
need 30 active posts to become one  Wink

Same here, but my activity count isn't going up with each post. Any idea why that might be? I haven't logged in for a year.

Ha!!  Common fault. Genius ... many thanks

Damn! I think I am stuck.. I figured this is just a suppressor across the ground for the USB, so soldered a bridge over it to re-make the connection but the gridseed is still dead with no lights and no USB device detection.

Any ideas? If this is a common fault has anyone fixed it successfully?

How do you guys look up the component values? Can anyone give me the value of this resistor?

I don't even know if it is R66 or R106. Seems to have blown out on my overclocked gridseed, but not sure if it has anything to do with the overclocking or just random.

Have a look to this post! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=519112.msg6556103#msg6556103

Sorry Jivy, but I too was disappointed. I rented Gemini for 6 hours but got less than half the hashrate advertised.

In your information section on Leaserig you offer compensation for problems. Not sure how you do this, but you can send BTC to here: 13w5MiskGw51DmdUWWkyHrcbiuLKQy8oho

or PM me about how you want to do it.

Thanks! Glad you liked it and thanks for feedback.

Anyone has problems let me know. Regarding the P2pool ... maybe it doesn't work with Leaserig's LRP. My setup means I can't do a direct connect for SHA256 but I might try to get it working for scrypt if more people need it.

Thanks sooo much for your help! I really really appreciate it.

I soldered the broken component in with globs of solder to bridge the gap and it seems to have worked since it's running OK.
That's the last time I solder those microscopic components with a regular hobby soldering iron ...

Thanks again!

Looks like another zero value ...........

If you have a multimeter measure it on your other Gridseed to be sure.

The zero value looks to be confirmed in the comments here: http://cryptomining-blog.com/1839-another-new-voltmod-update-for-the-gridseed-5-chip-btcltc-asic-miners/

Just as a side note, on this new voltmod, we aren’t replacing the R52 resistor (that should be 0 ohm)

I need help! I carried out the voltage mod successfully for the first gridseed, but then when doing the second I accidentally damaged an adjacent component. I was replacing the resistor in this picture:
http://cryptomining-blog.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/gridseed-68-kohm-r52-resistor-mod.jpg

Can anyone please tell me what the (black) component is to the right of the one circled in green? There are two components to the right of the one circled in green and they are perpendicular to one circled in green. The one I damaged was the black one at the bottom, i.e. closest to the edge of the board.

Any help in telling me what component that is (resistor) and what value, would be very much appreciated.

It's the one circled in blue here: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=330g13c&s=8#.U4NoGa1dVWQ

Gridseed hashrate all over the place
by
Invigiator
on 30/04/2014, 09:51:25 UTC
I've got a couple of gridseeds clocked to 850 and I have tried them on all sorts of pools. The hashrate seems completely unstable varying wildly, including reporting hashrates as high as 450KH/s, but often as low as 250KH/s. Yet I am getting zero or close to zero rejected.

Is this just the way pools report the hashrate? Or is it actually that unstable?

LTCrabbit seems the most stable reporting hashrates 330-380 per hour. Clevermining reports wild fluctuations between 100-600 and ghash.io is fairly stable on LTC but completely wild on the multipool. On wafflepool it is very low and I seem to get very very low returns, although I tried it for less than a day.

So I am wondering if it all averages out and I am fine to use all these pools, or if actually I should avoid the unstable ones; I also notice on the unstable multipools a great deal of "Stratum detected new block" messages.

Any advice from you experts much appreciated
