Re: Just got off the phone with Bitmain re next batch of S9

I'm ordering roughly 10 miners with local pickup in Shenzen, I want to make sure I'm the the final list so if someone that ordered 20/30 miners want to merge our orders together PM me.

To be clear your miners will be shipped wherever it's needed while mine remain in Nimo's facility waiting for me to grab them.

Nemo, why would you not make it first come, first served?

Because it doesn't make sense for logistics  reasons. Handling big orders means less payments, less shippings and less headaches overall. Not fair to early birds but fair to Nimo. I understand that.

The best solution would be that all the small guys get together and pay an escrow as a man-in-the-middle for this group-buy so Nimo will treat it like one big order and then the escrow will handle the shipping to buyers.

Maybe I missed it, but is there a cutoff date for to sign up for this? I already signed up. Im just curious because Bitmain is only going to be able to handle so many units for this order plus units they normally sell to other customers. Should this be capped? If were already over 1000 units and Bitmain is still trying to approve 700 units. Is it first come first serve for filling the orders?

List currently is at 1062 and we're still waiting for the approval of 500 or 700 units.
But yeah, a lot of people will probably drop when we get the final confirmation (hopefully next week) send the contract and ask to make the payments within a short period of time.

So list is still open but that doesn't guarantee that we'll have enough miners to cover everyone.

In case we need more miners than Bitmain has available it's "first come first serve"?

Yup can confirm I met Nimo in SF. His deal looks solid and contacts in china are real.

@Mikeswildcreations.com

People like this make me think this is nothing but a scam.

Guy registers then 6 minutes later he finds this thread and is confirming the OP's identity.

There is also a disproportionate number of newbies and 1 post accounts jumping on board and ordering stupid number of miners probably in a bid to keep bumping this thread to the top and rope in a few muppets to hand over their cash.

This just looks suspicious to me:

Your list is off, 200+ units people can order on their own and you don't consider PM only people here and on Reddit. The guy mentioned the group buy on Reddit so I imagine people are coming from there.
Due to s9 shortage at human prices all around the world people have registered only for this group buy.

A newbie account contacted me about getting 1,000 miners plus from someone BESIDES Bitmain...which I thought MAYBE proved

they were NOT precisely a scam, or at least approaching me from a different direction.....for phishing..

unclear on the flavor of ASIC they were pursuing....sha-256/scrypt-pow or x11 (which I told them to stay away from IMHO)

Anyway, essentially, I know of NONE in the way of ASIC miners, that I could get 1,000 units from with any hope ...Baikal is too high priced

and would blow up on the attempt of 1,000 orders....pandaminer same, pinidea nope....prices would kill even if they could do the volume IMHO

Unless I'm mistaken, assuming legitness of them from brief pm ..they are SOL..there is NO one anymore with the capacity I know of

to get them 1,000 units of anything (which again I think is likely fishing me...but what the heck) ..even if it is by around April 2018.

anyway, what struck me was the number 1,000 and how completely Bitmain owns ASIC mining now .......if they are legit again they are SOL

and I kinda (nicely) informed them of such Sad Anyway, an interesting thought on HOW such a thing could even be done, w/o Bitmain units now...

my conclusion was NOPE! Sad

I'm not sure if you are serious but there are few more options that you did not mention: Canaan, Ebang and Bitfury.

Bitfury in particular is ideal  for large investors because they gather an industrial mining audience. Their minimum order is 2mil USD and their machines are top quality.

Although this guy is in China and has resources, he has zero experience dealing with bitmain or even with mining in general. No offense here, but I'm not sure he'll be able to pull this out.
Bitmain is not some kind of alienesque entity, it's a business and they want to sell a product. If the man is who he claim he is (which is easily verifiable once the deal is confirmed) he has experience in dealing with suppliers and do business in China.

Nimo already managed to get in contact with Bitmain's rep which is not something retail would be able to do, so I'd give him credit before shitting on the group buy.

My only concern is that he kinda disappeared, an update of sort would be appreciated.

this is assuming the DragonMiner is  not a scam? Anyone wanna weigh in?
Scam 100%. No address. new domain. Only Twitter and email. I wouldn't risk it.
I sent an email asking for clarity to contact@halongmining.com

Me:
You obviously have no track record but can you send me your company details please? I couldn't find anything on the website

David Smithy:
yes, sorry about that, we're being deliberately opaque. While this may cost us some initial business, we believe it's essential to be able to scale up without interference from powerful anti-competitive competitors. We're trying to compensate by giving miners to trusted people i the community for review. I realize that isnt enough,  because some of the concerns you should have are about logistics and whether we can scale up - however we are unable to prove that. However, I can assure you we have multiple redundancies in place to ensure we can meet whatever capacity requirements
