If India’s tailenders had managed to score a few more runs, it could have really strengthened their position in the match. Still, putting 358 on the board isn’t a bad effort. But it’s hard to call this a match-winning total. England has a very strong batting lineup, even their number 11 can bat. So, 358 feels like a middling score. If just two English batsmen manage to score centuries and get a small lead, that alone could put lot of pressure on India in the second innings. To make things harder, India is struggling with injuries. Rishabh Pant, in particular, may not be able to replicate his first-innings heroics due to the injury he picked up.

England have just lost their first wicket. And England's total is now 166 . The opening pair has played brilliantly. Zak crawley returned to the dressing room with 84 runs. Ben d uckett is unbeaten on 73 runs. India has not been able to make a big total. India has scored 158 runs. England is trailing by just 192 runs. If the Indian bowlers fail to bowl wel l, I think England will take a lead of at least 100 +. So far, the match is completely under England's control. Indian bowlers are not able to take any advantage. England's batsmen collecting more than 5.2 runs per over.

Re: 14 years activating 80,000 BTC?
by
Iranus
on 24/07/2025, 15:25:45 UTC
I can't imagine how can someone be holding this much Bitcoin for so many years. When you have 80K Bitcoin and the price of the coin reaches 20K USD in 2027 or 70K USD in 2021, you'll at least sell one Bitcoin and spend that year very nicely. I believe that someone accidentally discovered keys or they had a wallet and lost the last 2-3 words and cracked it via brute force. If there really is someone out there who holds Bitcoin for 14 years, doesn't sell single coin and doesn't even think about to sell the coin when the price is at its peak to later buy more, then this man deserves The Nobel Prize for his patience.

Another scenario is why don't you think this person owns multiple wallets and he has more bitcoins than we think. As we have seen over the past 16 years and in every bull cycle, there are always some big wallets that wake up and a lot of bitcoins are sold. So is it possible that these wallets belong to the same owner? I don't rule out that possibility.

Indeed, it is very difficult for someone to hold bitcoin for years without selling any bitcoin while the price of bitcoin has increased millions of times.

Re: Has El Salvador been lying to the world?
by

on 24/07/2025, 15:07:20 UTC

Even if the accusation is true, why should the IMF make this finding public? The organisation would be protecting some nations, but they just want to discredit El Salvador and shame them before the committee of nations.

Don't always think bad about IMF or always think negative about them like that. Simply because if they are not open and transparent about everything, the investors and financial institutions that are providing $1.4 billion in loans to El Salvador will immediately stop disbursing.
This is arguably mandatory as it is way to reinforce the confidence of financial institutions that El Salvador is complying with the terms of the loan program and to ensure that El Salvador will continue to receive subsequent disbursements.

Re: BYD - the new Evergrande, but in the automotive market ?

While I hate Elon Musk and even dislike tesla cars, I have to say, there are few different parts about this that I would argue against. First of all, we talked about cars sold, and we are seeing even in these numbers, Tesla seems only a small part behind, how could tesla sell so fewer cars, and be nearly exactly the same?

Secondly, that 102 number comes from China, and I have a suspicion about whatever comes out of China, I do not believe they sold that many cars, I also do not believe they made that much revenue, I do not have any proof, but I am sure they do not have a proof neither, they are just writing numbers, who can argue against it? And more importantly, China literally covers the losses for BYD whenever they made it, whereas Tesla only gets subsidies in the form of tax cuts, they did not receive free money.
Contrary to you, I quite like Elon and Tesla, but I prefer practicality. Wink Wink

If you have no evidence and are just making statements based on your thoughts and opinions, it is difficult for us to discuss further. Because I bet even if all that data were true, you still wouldn't want to believe it and would find a way to deny it. Like bitcoin maximalists, they will reject anything related to altcoins regardless of right or wrong.

I don't know how accurate that number is but as far as I know Cnbc is a reputable business news channel and is headquartered in the United States. I don't think they would post unverified nonsense or post news that could harm their country.

By the way, have you seen the news about Tesla's financial report? Their sales continued to decline in the second quarter of this year.

Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2024/25

The way some people are commenting about Rashford coming to Barcelona sounds as if some people did not believe in the player's talent or something similar to that. I feel like this player is good, and the management knows his worth before hiring him to play for them in the coming season. On the other hand, the player will try his possible best to bring out the best in him in this squad because he won’t want to be benched, and I trust Hansi Flick.

He knows how to do his things; he will definitely make sure everything is going as expected. Flick is already getting prepared for the coming season; Barcelona may be champions in La Liga next season again.

Agree. Hansi Flick has already made his match plan with Barcelona. And he knows well how to bring his best performance out of a player. As we saw Raphinha did the best performance of his career in the last season. He scored 18 goals and made 5 assists in the La liga. We have never seen such a marvelous performance from Raphinha in the past. Rashford is a talented player enough. If he can adapt himself well with Flick's match strategy and if he is diligent, he is about to spend a amazing season with Barcelona. And I believe that Barcelona's management will also be interested in buying Rashford after  next season.

On the first day , we saw a very good bat from Indian batsmen. The first day India lost 4 wickets and collected 264 runs. Not a bad collection. The highest collection of today was Sai sudarsan's 61  runs. Jaiswal was also able to collect 58 runs. jadeja and shardul Thakur are unbeaten on each of the 19 runs. Both of these are also experienced in the Indian squad. There is no doubt that India will collect big if these two batsmen can start the next day. However  no batsmen in the Indian squad can play 100 + innings. If Jadeja can play big innings, India will be able to collect 450+ in the first innings.

A low scoring match yet a close game. Bangladesh batting first made a score of 133. They had a bad start but the partnership and individual score of Jaker Ali 55 and Mahedi Hasan 33 led them to a score they could look to defend. Pakistan chasing the small target had even worse start. At a time, they were 47 for 7 and it was almost certain that they would lose but the batting by bowlers and bowling all rounders, specially Faheem Ashraf's 51 let them had an unexpected comeback with needing just 14 runs from 7 balls with 2 wickets remaining. But the the crucial moment, they lost their remaining wickets and were allout losing to Bangladesh by 8 runs.
With this win, Bangladesh has won the 3 match T20 series 2-0.

Faheem Ashraf scored 51 runs off 32 balls, This innings made the match vastly competitive. . But I do not think Pakistan can win. Pakistan lost 7 wickets for just 47 runs. Faheem Ashraf, Abbas Afridi and Ahmed Daniyal batted well so Pakistan did not  lose by a big margin. In the end, the team scored 125 runs and lost by just 8 runs.

Bangladesh has already won the series. bangladesh won the first 2 matches of the three- match series. Pakistan may once again say  that they lost because of the bad pitch. But we have seen again that pakistan's overall performance is still very erratic. There is no player in the squad who is capable of batting responsibly.

Today, the Pakistani bowlers bowled quite well. Pakistan lost because of the bad batting of their batsmen. We have not seen any batsmen from the top order play well. The first 6 batsmen of the top order had a combined total of just 18 runs.

Re: 21 million BTC, is it enough?
by

unless Satoshi rose and remodel it again, but whether it might happen, I don't think it would.

Bitcoin is designed as open source and runs on a decentralized network controlled and maintained by the community. That means no individual, including its creator (Satoshi), has enough privilege to freely change anything. If he or anyone wants to change the source code, the protocol of bitcoin, they need to get consensus from the community including core developers, full nodes, miners...Therefore, changing the supply is considered an impossible task even if Satoshi stood up and proposed it.

Re: Investment is for everyone

When this person bought the land plot, did he already know that a university would be built there? I don't think he knew. In this case, what is the thoughtfulness of his investment? After all, this man was accidentally lucky. If he had bought up a lot of land around the city, it would have been a well-thought-out investment (if the city expanded in any direction, the land in that direction would increase in value).

That will depend. As far as I know, these construction projects are often discussed and planned for months or even years before they are implemented. If he is well-off and has many connections, it is not surprising that he knows in advance about real estate areas that are being planned and compensated in the near future. I believe that those in third world countries are no strangers to these things.

Another thing is that from the beginning this guy intended to invest in real estate in the central or neighboring areas. This shows that he also has a vision but due to limited capital, he cannot realize it. So I don't think this guy is lucky, maybe he is someone who has quite good relationship with leaders/politicians in that area.

Musk's been inside govt meetings it's where powerful ppl make decisions which affect billions of ppl. He knows he won't be invited back to the white house while Trump's president but he wants to get involved in politics. Musk knows he's got unlimited money to fund a new America party so he's going to try changing how American's vote.

Although he announced the formation of the "American Party" on July 5 after Trump's OBBB was passed by Congress. But so far, there has been no official news or official confirmation from Elon that the "American Party" has been born. In other words, this is still just Elon's idea, it has not been officially implemented or legally registered.

Forming a new party will not be easy, and money alone is not enough, and I believe Elon understands that better than anyone. So, I don't think we're going to have a new party. And if Elon wants to get involved in politics, he has plenty of ways to do it.

Re: BYD - the new Evergrande, but in the automotive market ?
by
Iranus
on 22/07/2025, 13:36:28 UTC

It's the revenue that matters in this case, not the number of cars sold. Because BYD obviously and as a strategy, sells for very cheap. For example, they have a model that is like 16-17k dollars here, whereas tesla is 40k dollars, so they need basically twice as many sales as Tesla to make the same revenue at the very least.

And they are doing much worse when it  comes to revenue. They are selling 55% of the cars, but how much of the revenue are they making? I can tell you that a lot less. That is literally why they are getting subsidies from the government, Chinese party keeps them alive, by paying them to stay alive. Not that they are doing terrible, of course they are making money, I just mean, they are not run like any other company, they are like one nations whole government backed company, so it makes sense how they can survive.

Wrong, revenue is important in every business, not just the electric vehicle market.

You are also wrong in saying that Tesla's revenue is higher than BYD's or that BYD needs to sell twice as many cars to have the same revenue as Tesla. In 2024, BYD's revenue is $102 billion, up more than 29% from 2023. Meanwhile, Tesla's revenue is $97 billion, down 1,1% from 2023. BYD is doing very well, not as bad as you think.

Yes, BYD receives support from the Chinese government. But what about Tesla? They also get a lot of incentives from the US government but that will soon end because with Trump's 'One Big Beautiful Bill', the US government will cuts off funding to Tesla. That would make things more difficult for Tesla in the future, and that's why Musk turned his back on Trump.

Re: Will Bitcoin Hit $500k before the end of the decade as predicted by Jeremie Davi
by

on 22/07/2025, 13:14:13 UTC

If the speculation only involved a Bitcoin price target that would reach $500k in the future, many would be optimistic that it would happen. But with the added focus on when the target is reached, many would probably say the speculation is just a ploy to attract attention from newcomers.
Just like in the past, when people talked and speculated Bitcoin reaching $100k, many were optimistic and believed, but as for the timing, we never saw anything specifically accurate.

We all know that bitcoin is unpredictable, no one can know what will happen in the future because so many things are out of our control. So for me, those who make high predictions and insert specific time but cannot provide data to ensure reliability. This is clearly a ploy to attract more crowd attention, not a pure prediction.

Indeed, I wouldn't argue or doubt this prediction if it weren't tied to a specific time because bitcoin will hit $500k in the future, but only time will tell when that will happen.

I personally don't oppose these predictions, as analysts base them on data, however as we know no prediction is accurate. It's better to teach them how to consistently invest without being lured by the promise of fantastic price increases in the future. Bitcoin will certainly reach that point sooner or later. We just have to wait patiently.

What data? As I see it, people who make predictions for the next 5 or 10 years and predictions like $500,000, $1 million or more. They hardly provide any analysis or data to make their predictions credible. They seem to just make predictions randomly and with the intention of attracting the attention of the crowd instead of making predictions they believe will happen.

Or they have other purpose like you said, they want more newbies to enter the market, more Fomo in the market to push the price of bitcoin as high as possible and they can close the profit with better profit.

Everyone has the right to make any prediction because it is everyone's right but honestly, I don't like these kind of predictions because it will harm the newbies.

I don’t know how it would work in North Korea, but I think an easy solution would be to use the Tor browser. Is that allowed, though? By “allowed,” I mean: can a person download the Tor app and use it to access online casinos or browse other websites? Or is that also forbidden by the North Korean government? Because when you combine Tor and cryptocurrencies, you basically have total freedom anywhere.

afaik it is totally illegal to use Tor or VPNs in North Korea. Also only the elite few could access to internet, if you were not elite they will restrict your access various way. I have heard they allowed on state-controlled intranets only for ordinary citizens. One of my tourist friend told me they closely monitored his internet activity and warned him that any attempt at anonymizing tools will immediately arouse suspicion. So merging Tor and bitcoin to gain complete freedom sounds interesting, but in real life, it seems to me high risk and almost beyond the bounds of possibility under the DPRK's surveillance-heavy regime.

Osimhen almost done to Galatasary for a 75m€ +5 bonus deal.
Verbal agreement done, so it can be done in hours.

Osimhen's €75m transfer to Galatasaray confirmed, €40m up front, €35m next year, plus an anti-Serie A clause. So it's not just verbal, deal done. Smiley
Osimhen rejected Arabia's mega offer to stay in Europe, so its done.

Samuel Mbangula from Juventus to Werder Bremen on permanent deal.

Werder are set to sign Samuel Mbangula for around €10-12 million on a Five year deal until 2030.
Which makes him the 2nd greatest signing in Bremen's history.

Bryan Mbeumo signed his deal with Man United.

And Manchester United recently signed Brian Mbeumo from Brentford, reportedly for €65m plus €6m in add-ons, and he's already passed his medical.
He netted 20 PL goals last season and Utd signed him as a number 10 player for Amorim's network.

Just look at score card of Pakistan and it's disappointing. Fakhar Zaman is the top scorer with 44 runs followed by Afridi 22 and Khushdil 17, apart from these three batsmen no one bothered to play a double figure innings. The credit for today's victory goes to Bangladesh bowlers who didn't allowed Pakistani batsmen to score runs. Bangladesh batsmen played with confidence while chasing the target and that's why it was an easy win in the end.

Pakistani players are criticizing the pitch harshly. But I will say, did they not know that Mirpur's pitch is like this? This is nothing new. Mirpur's pitch is always bowling friendly. And it is very difficult to score big on this pitch. Pakistan did their homework properly. And that is why they lost. Now they are trying to avoid responsibility by blaming the pitch only. Pakistan has scored 110 runs. Bangladesh team reached the target of victory in 15.3 overs. If the pitch condition was very bad, Bangladesh would not have been able to win so easily. Pakistan batsmen will have to try to perform more carefully in the next matches.

Real Madrid can replace Vin Jr if they want, but they will need a good and reliable right winger before they can let him go so that Mbappe will go back to his natural position which is the same position with Vini Jr, then should look for a reliable striker that can score plenty goals like Haaland.
Specifically, the problem at Real Madrid is that Vini Jr. is the strongest left winger so far and, with his age still very productive, it would be quite difficult for Real Madrid to let him go. Although, when they saw the offer from the Saudi club, it was truly amazing. However, Vini Jr. himself has stated that he still wants to stay at Real Madrid, even though the Saudi club remains adamant about getting their hands on the main player. They are even preparing a €350 million offer.
Source: BREAKING: Saudi Arabia are ready to make a €350M offer to Real Madrid for Vini Jr

My honest opinion selling Vini might be bad for Real Madrid. You know he had 41 goal contributions in 58 games and just netted 100+ goals for Madrid. €350 million Saudi offer is insane though. However unless Vini himself pushes Madrid won't let him go. You know Mbappé is a left winger. You can't expect the same kind of transition Cristiano Ronaldo had by just putting Mbappé in the centre. also you can't just swap a zestful winger for a striker and expect magic overnight.

Re: BTC as means of payment is a looking more possible than before?
by

on 20/07/2025, 06:02:29 UTC

It’s definitely a good start. We can’t expect for bitcoin to be immediately used by everyone as everyone else will still need to get used to things but the good news is other countries might follow the US and we will soon have bitcoin mass adoption

If you take the time to learn about the GENIUS Act, you will see that its focus is to establish a complete legal framework for stablecoins. The goal is to make stablecoins more trustworthy and popular, the bill does not mention nor has any direct connection to bitcoin or altcoins. This means that if other countries follow the US lead, stablecoins will be more widely adopted and will be the top choice as a payment method. This also means that bitcoin's opportunity is shrinking, not expanding, because they have found an alternative and it is not bitcoin.

Let's face it, the chances of bitcoin becoming a payment method are very low, and it has never been an option for governments.

While I assessed these two options, if OP is really aiming to experience trading, then let him trade but not the whole amount of 1 million Naira, but maybe 1/4 of it so that he can really assess on his own if trading will work for him. If not, then proceed to investing, that’s simple as that.

We all have different points of view about this, but for me, in order to maximize the future outcomes, then we have to seriously prepare for it. Trading is highly risky, so you have to learn proper risk management first before proceeding into trading.

Exactly, why should OP choose one when he can try both and make his own decision afterwards?

Because trading is riskier, he can even start with just $20 or $50, not necessarily 1/4 or 1/2 of the capital. After trying, if he really likes it then continue, but if he feels it is too risky and not suitable, then just invest.

We are not the same, from views to preferences, or tastes...so we should not rely on other people's advice to make choices because sometimes what is suitable for them may not be suitable for us. Experiencing it yourself to make a choice is the best way.

Re: Is a University Degree Still Worth Anything?
by
Iranus
on 20/07/2025, 05:25:22 UTC

And it's undeniable that many people today have degrees but lack knowledge. They spend years studying, but they can't even master the material they've learned. They can't become experts in the fields they've studied for years. Ultimately, they end up as useless graduates, with their diplomas simply hanging in their living rooms as wall decorations.

This is a mistake that many students are making today. Many students, although they have graduated and received their degrees, ironically, they are seriously lacking in knowledge compared to the value of the degrees they receive, let alone skills.

It can be said that it is partly the fault of the education system and partly the fault of the students themselves, because they are lazy and do not try. But they dare not admit and face the fact that if they tried harder and studied harder, they could get a job after graduation. Instead, they blame degrees when they can't find a job.

This also explains why some people are employed and successful while others remain unemployed even though they all graduated from the same school and majored in the same subject.
