Re: BitAxe Gamma - Mine to local bitcoin core (GBT)?

I've just bought a BitAxe Gamma, its on its way to me and should be here in a day or two.

Anyway, I'm wondering if I can set it up to mine locally to bitcoin core using GBT, or does it only support Stratum protocol and mining to a pool?

I admit I don't know much about BitAxe as of yet, so if anyone knows thanks for your help.

G.

I use Ocean's Datum Gateway set to solo local mining on my full node and point the Bitaxe to the IP of the node - All working fine but no block reward yet Smiley

Datum will work with Core but Ocean recommend Bitcoin Knots because of the ability to set your own mining template in finer detail

Settings:

Stratum host - Your node IP Eg: 192.168.1.234
Stratum Port: 23334
Stratum User: Your BTC Receive address EG bc1qqv7ymltch123456z0x68pyhfqh8kxtx3dmzv

Does anyone know how to browse the event log on a Nano 3s please?
The older Nano 3 dashboard included a link but the new 3s family dashboard does not.

Bitcoin Core 29.0 location & security basics

Hi all,

I now have a Bitcoin Core 29.0 running on Ubuntu 24.04

Is it possible for a bad actor to work out where my node is located, thus making me a target for physical burglary?

What basic security actions would you recommend to maintain my anonymity please?

Also should I take any action against online attacks?

I have no BTC on the node, just running to help the network

Thanks in advance

Re: What will be your advice to someone with an interest in mining in 2025?

I hope you don't mind me jumping on this thread but I'm also interested in learning to mine Bitcoin.

I am soon going to have about 16Kw of solar fitted onto an empty factory roof and would like to use the spare solar/battery combination to run a single, top spec, ASIC miner.

However I have zero experience so I would first like to buy some low power kit to learn on at home. I've looked at the BitAxe kit and it seems to tick all the boxes - Low power, reasonable hash rate for playing and inexpensive. However it seems to run it's own integrated OS and requires no outside PC.

So my question is, can someone please recommend some ASIC hardware that is low power and inexpensive, but connects to an external PC so that I can learn to use and tune the latest miner application software?

I have a reasonably good Bitcoin knowledge and already run my own full node (Bitcoin Core on Ubuntu) and would like to get up to speed with the technicalities of mining before I commit to 'Serious' kit.

Thanks in advance for your help.
