Re: Bitcoin Cash will be THE Bitcoin

I would have had 30 million USD today if I bought 10,000 BTC back in the day, I had the funds and almost did... got a gaming PC instead.  I wonder if I could get a 2nd chance if Bitcoin Cash crashes through the floor, then scoop up allllll the coins for cheap.    Any big wigs investing in Bitcoin Cash yet?  (remember when Microsoft announced Bitcoin association?)  Bitcoin Cash possible future?

oops I actually got $17 from this, ok good... >.>  I guess 0.0002 suggested fee is acceptable yes?

Ugh, finally got BitcoinABC synced... too bad I didn't just copy blockchain before the fork Tongue    Well I ended up with 0.08xxxxxx  BitcoinCash, about $1.80?   lol    suppose I wanted to transfer this?  How much is the fee?  I don't believe the 0.0002 suggested by ABC is the real deal, or is it?  :O

EDIT:  Ok the following will not work, so nobody do this... You had to have copied the blockchain directory BEFORE the fork. I didn't, so I guess that's out..  Will have to do it the OP's way...

OLD:
Someone suggested that the safest way to split the coins is through Bitcoin Core and BitcoinABC. Since I already have it going for me, they gave me these instructions, but I'm too scared to do it... Please verify for me the following: (Caution - if you're a dweller, don't follow these instructions until it is confirmed to be a working method).

-Bitcoin Core is installed and the blockchain is completely synced.
-Copy the Bitcoin folder with the blockchain to another drive and rename it BitcoinCash
-Unzip BitcoinABC, make a shortcut to the exe and use a data directory tag like -datadir=G:\BitcoinCash
-The wallet with your original bitcoins should be copied and present in both BitcoinCore and BitcoinABC's blockchain folders.
- Send all bitcoins from your BitcoinCore wallet to a different address, wait for 30 confirms.
- Open BitcoinABC, coins should still be present in the old wallet according to the BCash network, so send them to an exchange that accepts them.  (I plan to send them back to another BCash wallet after its confirmed split and just hold'em)
Once it's verified there are two separate entities of coin, the split was successful.

So what do you think? Safe? I'd do the OP's method, but I have all this ready and set to go... if I can do this now, I will, I just need some input Smiley

Hi thanks for the input, that site is very insightful. Do you think I should initiate a double spend from the bitcoin core wallet?  (-zapwallettxes) and spend the full balance with a higher fee?  It was 0.01765300 to begin with,  originally tried sending 0.01128000 (got stuck).

I bit the bullet and did "pay only the required fee of 0.00001000 BTC."
-Sent at 5:13PM  6/5/2017.
-Amount: 0.01128000 BTC, approx $30 according to BTC-e's estimate at the time.
-Fee of 0.00000226 BTC [0.225 kB] was attached. (less than a penny).
-For this transaction, 3 confirmations are required.

I'll update you when, if ever, the transaction is confirmed. Good night!!!

Suggest a fee if you were in my shoes

Transaction fees are scary 0.o

For reference: I'm using Preev and BTC-e for my bitcoin pricing.  I'm using bitcoin core 0.14.1 as a client.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I went to the gas station and bought $50 worth of bitcoins. I want to send $30 worth of these coins to BTC-e for a single Litecoin purchase, just to get back on my feet, it's been a while.  I'll buy more btc to stay as btc later, but for now I really want my hands on one ltc and to keep it there on the exchange.

The fee proposed by bitcoin core is 25 blocks (0.00265823) approximately $5 at this time. For a 20 minute transaction, it asks 2 blocks for 0.00424066 (approx $10).

So, for my attempt to send 0.01155 BTC ($30) to the exchange, and using the custom fee area in the bitcoin core client, how much would YOU attempt to put where it says per kilobyte, hoping for a 1-3 hour transaction?  Worst case, 7 hour, how much would you enter into the field?

Edit:  Forget it, delete this topic if you wish.  I was mining the WRONG pandacoin  xD  (did the pre-mine version).  Real one uses CGminer and not pre-mined.  Up and running at full speed.  Whew..

New to the verti-scene so I hope someone can review my setup. I know mining PND is a bit different (seems to work better with lower intensity and worksize).  Please see if you can correct my setup to get max performance (unattended machine).  I know I did this wrong, so please help me tweak this Smiley

GPU = ASUS 5870v2

run.bat:
vertminer --scrypt-vert -o stratum+tcp://panda.united-miners.com:3311 -u name.name -p x --thread-concurrency 8000 --intensity 13 --worksize 64 -g 1

That would be nice Smiley  I know there's a couple of lists of bitcoin sites, however there are probably hundreds or thousands more (such as myself) who have a site that's not on that list.

What do you suppose a good tag to put in my header would be to be found on such a search engine? (or even google at the moment)

Re: Catalyst 13.6
by
Izlude
on 31/05/2013, 14:00:18 UTC
I'm on Windows 8x64.  I've only had success mining with  13.1; 13.2; 13.3.  Otherwise, 13.4 and 13.6 cause me to get  "check hardware" errors with guiminer, and cgminer simply crashes.

Here's what I do. I use driver fusion to scrap "everything" and start fresh.  I install SDK 2.6 (a stand alone package).  Next I install my catalyst 13.3, and I'm successful. Did the same thing with 13.4 an 6 this time, no success.. Something has changed and it's a bad thing for bitcoin miners.

Here's what I noticed, if I install cat 13.3 as is, it fails to mine.  I MUST install the SDK 2.6 package first before the cat drivers.  Did cat 13.4 and 6 alone as well, then tried it with SDK 2.6 with no results.  It looks very bad for us.

LTC - Minerd - cointron (no accepted/yay's)
by
Izlude
on 12/05/2013, 00:35:49 UTC
Windows 7 64bit  CPU mining.
Cointron LTC mining

I've been using minerd.exe and mining_proxy.exe with the following commands on my main system and it works with no problem:

c:\ltcminer\mining_proxy -pa scrypt -o coinotron.com -p 3334
c:\ltcminer\minerd -a scrypt -r 1 -t 2 -s 6 -o http://127.0.0.1:8332 -O (my user name).1:1
(my user name - what i registered with but not shown).

I've recently diverted work to the laptops and freed up the main system for BTC mining.  On my laptops I'm not always getting the results I want. (using different workers btw)

For the first couple of times it shows the following: accepted 1/1 (100%)    then  2/2; 3/3 up till about 4/4.  At that point, it starts showing this:  JSON-RPC call failed: {"message": "Unexpected error during authorization", "code": -1   json_rpc_call failed , retry after 30 seconds

After that, it begins to hash again and shows LONGPOLL detected new block, but the have stopped appearing and the cointron dashboard shows the work has stopped  (0kh/s).

What do you suppose causes this?  Tried looking around, those who had similar issues were using 3333 port instead of 3334, but I'm definitely using 3334, plus I was getting working results for the first couple of runs, then it craps out and the work comes to a halt.

I fixed my problem folks, and it was nerve wracking!!!!

Ok I uninstalled my Catalyst through the control panel, same old same old.. Used Driver Fusion (free version) to pull out the rest.

Now I installed this: AMD-APP-SDK-v2.6-Windows-64.exe  (put everything in)
Next I installed the latest Catalyst (13.3 beta3) and UNCHECKED the SDK runtime.

In short, install sdk 2.6 first, then your current driver without the latest sdk runtime... whew.  Good luck mates.

i'm getting the exact same error :S   just made a post not too long ago too.. For me it only happens on Win8.  Dual booted to Win7, worked perfectly there.

Will watch this topic, so hope someone finds a solution.  We might be in a similar issue.

Thanks fendlestick, I tried guimner in compat mode, still no go...

Is there such a thing as installing older catalyst drivers from Win7 on Win8 using compat mode? (11.10 is supposed to be the sweet spot for 5870 cards)

Windows 8 Guiminer Woes :(
by
Izlude
on 12/04/2013, 17:40:08 UTC
On Windows 8, guiminer reports "Verification Failed: Check Hardware".  Tried all Catalyst versions from 12.6 to 13.3

On Windows 7 (dual booted) it works flawlessly on any driver version, even 13.3b.  Mines nonstop without any trouble.

Why is this happening?  It's not defective hardware, checked that already. I'm reading it might be SDK related, but how can I troubleshoot that?  I uninstalled all ATI software, reinstalled 13.3b and no go.. Do I have to install OpenCL or SDK or anything "separate" from the actual catalyst driver? (direct links would be helpful).  Thanks pals.  Hope to get this resolved once and for all Smiley

also note, some catalyst versions under win8 were causing guiminer to not launch at all.  (not the same as the "hiding" issue)  it simply would not execute.  13.3b it does execute, but gets the check hardware message.

Merchant tools (dynamic prices?)
by
Izlude
on 11/04/2013, 19:47:38 UTC
I'm planning  page where I want to sell shirts n goodies for bitcoins. I'm not certain how it will work out.  If I list an item for a set amount of bitcoins using merchant tools from mt gox or other, will that price automatically change to equal the "current value of other currencies such as USD"?  Or will I have to manually change the price?

secondary question if applicable,  are there any "flash action script" based bitcoin buy it now buttons?  i've never sold anything in bitcoin, but looking forward to it and in flash if possible Smiley  currently no tutorials appear on the good so hope someone here knows something.

Returning Miner, new errors.
by
Izlude
on 09/04/2013, 23:39:23 UTC
It's been a while since I mined, heck I still have 1.0 bitcoin still in my account (didn't request a payout). Just started up again 2 days ago. All was well until today when I got the following error (it occured earlier, but this is the 2nd time):

btcguild.com:8332 09/04/2013 16:24:11, 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'settimeout'.

It clears up when I start mining again, but eventually does it again after a few hours.  I also noticed that it says something like "job finished, idle" a couple of times and then that goes away.. not sure if that affects my mining too.

I use Guiminer (latest) with BTC Guild.

On a side note, I read recently that I need to start using stratum1.btcguild.com:3333,  not exactly sure how to configure that in guiminer. I looked at the "servers.ini" and it's not clear where to make the changes...

            "balance_host": "www.btcguild.com",
            "balance_token_url": "http://www.btcguild.com/my_api.php",
            "balance_url": "/api.php?api_key=%s",
            "host": "btcguild.com",
            "name": "BTC Guild (any)",
            "port": 8332,
            "url": "http://www.btcguild.com"

Could someone append this for me? Smiley  Or am I supposed to use a different miner?
