Re: What's the go-to/most reliable source for BTC exchange rates?

It also depends on the exchange you use as well. MtGox may say one thing, but the exchange that you use may say another. My advice, use the rate from the exchange you trust. I use Coinbase.com. The highest that i have seen is MtGox, however, people don't like them because of all the problems they have been having.

I've been using MtGox to watch the value etc, but I've never traded/purchased anything on there. Also they require government issued paper before you are able to do anything useful.. Is that normal..? I mean, I haven't used coinbase before and I'm wondering if they also require something like that in order to sell/buy bitcoins because I'm soon looking to sell some bitcoins.

Yeah, I'm hesitant to use it for the same reason... I really don't like the idea of my gov't ID being tied to my BTC activities...  Undecided

Did you write the seed down when you created the wallet?
If you did then there is no need to brute force the password. Just create a new wallet and enter the seed.

That's the beauty of deterministic wallets.

Whoops, forgot to mention that part.
That's the root of the problem. I don't remember being given a seed to write down. I've searched everywhere I would have kept it... To no avail.

Cool! How much did you pay for the rig?

Also, I currently use BTCGuild. Any specific reasons you don't use/like it?

Just bumping this back up... Not sure on the rules on double posting, sorry.

Does anyone know anything about recovering a password via brute force methods? I've seen it done before but I don't know how to do it. I can prove I've been using this wallet for almost 10 months now.

Are you guys mining?

Yep. 546 Mh/s with my 7970.

All my BTC are stuck in an Electrum wallet with a bad password though... This might just be the day I give up on bitcoins.

I've noticed a lot of talk recently about BTC. Had two professors ask me about it in the past week. Strange things...

Electrum Help

Came here to ask for some help in the Electrum section, but apparently I'm not allowed to do that quite yet... So i'll ask the newbie board!

I've been trying to send funds with my Electrum wallet, but i couldn't get anything to send. To make matters worse, I just updated to the latest version and now my password isn't working. Thoughts, anyone?

Edit: Any chance a mod could move this to the Electrum board?
